WTA week of 1/12; Adelaide 500 & Hobart 250

Both players just going for it and they kept pulling it off over and over again. Never seen Kalinskaya diving all over the court like that lol. Used to seeing her dictating from the baseline. Amazing hustle. What a match.....

Kalinskaya's depth has been awesome. Phenomenal effort to break in that 11th game. She hit the deck multiple times and cuts all down her legs scrambling and scrapping. So much hustle when she is not standing in the baseline and dictating with heavy hitting. Gotta admit I want Mboko to take this but it's going to be hard from here.
Are we talking about the same Kalinskaya? She never struck me as one that was going to hustle that much!

My excitement levels for Raducanu coming into each new season..

2022 - VERY excited
2023 - Looking forward to it
2024 - Meh
2025 - Starting to lose interest
2026 - No excitement whatsoever.

Good first match though

Edit - She's got a bye next round and then Preston (rank 204) in the quarters. The highest ranked players who could stop her reaching the final - Jovic (30) and Linette (53). Ok, my excitement is promoted back to the 2025 level

*Second technically, lost to Sakkari last week.

Frech has already quit, so Emma gets a freebie into the quarters against Taylah Preston. Should be relatively easy.

Classic easy run in a lower level event to get that hype train rolling again... She's not doing anything when it matters.

Very excited for Andreeva v Joint and Keys v Mboko in the Adelaide QFs!
Kinda of tired of hyping her... so really hope Andreeva takes a big step forward this year. She should be consistently challenging top 5.

Linette finished Wang in straights, Danilovic did the same to Stearns.

Ajla quit after winning the first 2 games against Joint in Adelaide.

Mboko locked in the struggle of a lifetime in gruelling 38 ball rallies against Kalinskaya. She's sprinting from side to side, smacking 150kmh forehand DTL winners and still has time to crack a smile in huge moments showing how much fun she is having out there. Mboko is one of the most likeable players on tour already and she is one of these players who draws you into her matches.
I didn't see the match, just the highlights (and we all know that the highlights don't show the true picture of the match). But I agree with you about how likeable Vicky is. She just seems so genuine. She seems sincere and happy. Of course it's easy to be happy when you're on the rise. I hope she can keep her lovely personality, no matter how her career progresses.

Agree 1000%. Something so admirable about being in the heat of the battle, have a tough point that you lose and still be in the frame of mind where you're enjoying the battle and you show the enjoyment of the competition with a smile. It's very rare to see.
