WTA week of 1/27; Linz 500 & Singapore 250

The British girls are always nicely rested after a slam so quite a few in action this week.

Burrage had a stinky looking qualifying tie against Neimeier but the German pulled out, allowing Burrage an easier match against Radivojevic (which she won). Now she'll play Ruzic in the final qualifying round. Should go through, touch wood.

In Singapore Raducanu and Dart are starting in the main draw. Dart plays Teichmann who she beat even back when Teichmann was still good. Tough game but winnable.

Raducanu is playing Busca right now as I type. 7-5 2-3 to Emma but down a break 2nd set. Grindy struggle.

Kalinskaya not looking very good bothered with an injury.

Anisimova pulled out of her 1st round match.

Will be at the S'pore matches later this week.

The tennis fans comments quoted by GB News about Raducanu are brutal.

All the stars were aligned when she won US Open. She did appear to play well (and at her peak?) then, though.

If you're a one hit wonder in the music world, people are generally alright with it. Someone will say "Oh do you remember when Bob&Dave released that no 1 single?"
The reply might be "Yeah. I mean, they were total one hit wonders, but that song was cool, deffo!"

If you're a one hit wonder in tennis though, you get ridiculed. "Hey you one hit wonder ska_k! When are you going to win something else?"

Taylor, girl you were in the Aus Open doubles final 48 hours ago which you won, pocketing $405,000.

Did you really need to race and jump on a plane to Singapore to get destroyed for just $4000?

Schedule better woman.
She's playing doubles too. Will probably win with Dolehide.

It's very common, chasing the singles dream now that she is high enough for direct entry 250s.
Siniakova is also scheduled to play Linz, just get a better schedule and play tomorrow.

Not a lot of bangers on Wednesday.

Townsend gets bundled out in the 1st round of doubles as well.

Bucsa not playing like she did against Raducanu.

Surprised to know Kalinskaya hasn't won a singles WTA title yet, on paper her main threat left in the tournament is Mertens.

The 1st set that Mertens lost was longer than her beat down of Townsends.

Watching the matches on site Maria's slices are tricky to deal with.

Off-court MTO for Kalinskaya, but she hasn’t quit yet. Announcer said she has 20 retirements in her career, that’s insane.
