Well, we have our first WTA-special of the year. Yulia wins with this beauty of a scoreline...Puts in boots might be done. She’s been struggling lately.

Agree. Potapova has hurt herself in the Brisbane event. I hope its a soreness issue thag she can recover from in time for AO.That’s a lot of withdrawals. Pota injury didn’t look good again Rybakina, so not surprising on that one.
Almost an exact reverse replica of her epic against Trevisan last yearWell, we have our first WTA-special of the year. Yulia wins with this beauty of a scoreline...

I know she came back to win her last match, but she has indeed been struggling for a while, which is a shame. She’s such a character.Puts in boots might be done. She’s been struggling lately.
Her match against Collins at the AO a few years ago was insane and amazing. One of the most entertaining WTA matches I’ve ever seen.Almost an exact reverse replica of her epic against Trevisan last year
Martina Trevisan d. Yulia Putintseva 0-6, 7-6, 7-6
She gets involved in so many epics and she loses a lot of them so probably deserves to get over the line in one.
Pretty embarrassing.I know it was only a charity exhibition but does anyone have any news on the Osaka vs Raducanu charity match?
I'm a fan of both but this seems downright ridiculous. They could both also use the match practice.
Besides the Vondrousova withdrawal, During the day session they bumped Cirstea vs Ostapenko out to court 1 instead of centre. They put on a fantastic show and it went to 3.
There is also no refund on the tickets for this event because it was for charity. I agree with no refunds for that reason but it’s still a big hit for people who paid for the super expensive tickets.I'm a fan of both but this seems downright ridiculous. They could both also use the match practice.
NO and ER. No surprise.
Did Townsend get that spot because she happens to be on site? I noticed that the Queen of Tennis, Camila Giorgi, lost in the first round of qualifying as the #3 seed, and lower seeded players that lost in qualifying still ended up in the main draw. Is it because they at least won one round of qualifying? Or is it because Camilia already left for Melbourne? The latter seems more plausible to me, as the Queen doesn't seem to like hanging around after a loss.Rough match for the Centre ticket holders.
Divas gonna diva...NO and ER. No surprise.
By my count, in Hobart, you have three players who lost in qualifiers that ended up in the main draw (Podoroska, Fruhvirtova and Tomova), with Tomova having won twice and now into the quarterfinals!Pera who only got into the draw as a lucky loser is up a set on world #3 Pegula...

Up an early break on DasKa now.Anna k plays a great match once in a while but then disappears. We would all like to see more of her more often haha.
Your last eight in Adelaide
[1] Rybakina vs. Alexandrova
Kostyuk vs. [6] Ostapenko
Siegemund vs. Kasatkina
[Q] Pavlyuchenkova vs. [2] Pegula
Yeah. She's young and tall and never seems gassed. Strike while you're hot.Rybakina has barely broken a sweat in both tournaments though. Have any of her matches lasted longer than 60-90 minutes?
As long she doesn't get embroiled in a marathon, she might be fine at her age.
Yeah, but preferably be hot when it matters.Yeah. She's young and tall and never seems gassed. Strike while you're hot.
And after I talked smack about how bad Pavs has been lately, she pulls off two solid wins in a row. Oh well...Pavs gets through in 3.
Kostyuk is drilling Townsend.
She did not appreciate my slander, handles in straights.Pretty much a guarantee JO plays 3 again.
