After Miami I think people were expecting more from her. I wonder if '25 will be here past season or if she will perhaps only play the first half and retire at IW or Miami?

I was wrong, she was a game away from forcing 3. They’re back on now in the decider.Rain interrupts Ito a game away from victory.
Wow, this is pretty surprising, actually. I know she has had a great year, but it seemed like her level picked up because she had the peace of mind to know it was her last push.
I'm actually thinking she decided to keep playing until she gets pregnant. It can take some time, so she might be there for a while...After Miami I think people were expecting more from her. Mirra rising steadily, currently ranked 19. Not bad for 17 years old! OK, I'm back on the hype train. And looks like Krejcikova quit while losing to Mirra.
That's outstanding matches compared to Osaka. Then again 500 vs 250. So it's expected I guess.lol, with so many players no show in Ningbo, they somehow managed a very decent semi lineup
Badosa v. Kasatkina
Andreeva v. Muchova
Geez, Kasatkina is the definition of majoring in the minors this year.
Her results this year:
2R Aus Open
2R French Open
3R Wimbledon
2R US Open
1R Doha 1000
1R Dubai 1000
4R Indian Wells 1000
3R Miami 1000
4R Madrid 1000
3R Rome 1000
2R Canada 1000
2R Cincy 1000
So how is she #12 in the race?
500 title in Eastbourne
500 runner up in Charleston
500 runner up in Abu Dhabi
500 runner up in Adelaide
... Kasatkina thereby back in the top 10!Badosa retires.
Kasatkina into another 500 final.
Yeah not even a SF or QF finish at a 1000 when there are many of them compared to GS is pretty awful. I think the WTA need to reconsider their 500 events, there are now so many the week before a GS and at quieter times in the schedule where top players don't want to travel to them. Ningbo suffered from a bunch of top withdrawals so perhaps it would have been more stacked given there are more events in Asia such as Tokyo. This was from August and it's actually gotten even worse for Kasatkina.
She's added a 3R in Beijing and a 3R in Wuhan. But she's also added another 500 final in Seoul and she's a set away from another 500 final here in Ningbo. Insanity that she's keeping her ranking from just 500s.
The only thing that can surpass that is a WO in Final. The extremely rare double-quit semis, wow. Asian tennis, my dogs!
This is interesting because Kasatkina just had a long and playful interview session with Andreeva on Kasatkina's vlog.Mirra joins Daria in the finals. Curious to see how this one plays out.
Putintseva did cold handshake to Dasha. I think Dasha teased Kalinskaya as well with the cold handshake after the match in physio session. Ladies need to be better at handsake lol. This is interesting because Kasatkina just had a long and playful interview session with Andreeva on Kasatkina's vlog.
SO many withdrawals from Tokyo including Andreeva who's about to play the final in Ningbo. Kasatkina is still entered. How on earth did Stojsavljevic get a main draw wildcard for a 500 in Tokyo?! She's still like 650 or thereabouts.
Most likely a good agent. Mirra Andreeva was WC for Madrid when she was almost 16 (She was in the 300s so not 600s but it's 1000 event!) and it paid off.How on earth did Stojsavljevic get a main draw wildcard for a 500 in Tokyo?! She's still like 650 or thereabouts.
She's #9 in the YEC race and now 200 points behind Navarro. Kasatkina is playing Tokyo whereas Navarro isn't. If we have a withdrawal from the YEC (such as Rybakina) I'm guessing Kasatkina could qualify if she plays the next 2 weeks for instance. Not sure why Navarro has no more events entered when she's first alternate for the YEC and looks like she could be caught by Kasatkina the next fortnight.Another 500 for Kasatkina who's now firmly in the top 10 without a single QF at a slam or 1000 tournament this year.
Solely there based on her 500 results.
In 2024:
Adelaide final - 500
Abu Dhabi final - 500
Charleston final - 500
Eastbourne champ - 500
Korea final - 500
Ningbo champ - 500
Additionally in 2023 her only finals were:
Adelaide final - 500
Eastbourne final - 500
Last year she also didn't make a QF at a slam and made just one QF at the 1000's and that was in Canada.
They put weight on her being US Open champion - which I see as sensible - instead of so far low ranking (she's not even 16 yet). My predictions seem to go more often miss than hit, but I doubt Stojsavljevic (jeez, that is genuinely hard name to write correctly! ) will ever go very far. She has mainly succeeded in juniors because she is big and powerful but has little else worth advertising. At best she will have similar career than say Clara Tauson has had so far.How on earth did Stojsavljevic get a main draw wildcard for a 500 in Tokyo?! She's still like 650 or thereabouts.
Oof, that sounds like an ugly match. 73 UE between the two of them, meaning 18 games’ worth of UEs. Those poor spectators - if any.Mirra is basically got asked to be aggressive and she failed. Andreeva W/UE 20/47 Kasatkina 8/26.
Nah, did you see those hugs afterward? That was definitely long, warm, consoling hugs from both players at the net and at the trophy ceremony.I assume the „friendship“ will be over after this match, regardless of the result.
Didn’t realize Zheng is playing Tokyo after skipping ningbo. I thought she is shutting it down till the finals based on some Chinese comments. Her stock shot up like crazy in China. She must have tons of endorsements deals lined up during this period. Probably lots of engagement and photo shoots to attend lol.SO many withdrawals from Tokyo including Andreeva who's about to play the final in Ningbo. Kasatkina is still entered.
Tauson out in final round of qualies to a Japanese player after losing in QF of Osaka a few days ago.
I am surprised Shibahara didn't get the WC, she's playing doubles but she's approaching top 100 in singles. Unless she's declined and just want to play doubles, I'm not sure why Tokyo organisers would give a WC to a British junior player. Maybe it's a sponsorship thing or connections. She will play Uchijima in R1 and could play Qinwen in R2. Hopefully that happens and we can get an idea of her level.
