What was wrong with her?My girl gave up.![]()
She hurts her back. What was wrong with her?
Thanks for information! She hurts her back.
I swear my heart skipped a few beats when she pouted and winched in pain. Thanks for information!
And sad to hear, she was also getting grip of better tennis (than spring & summer) in the indoors.![]()
I have a question about the new coaching rules. I'm watching the replay of the Sakkari v Parks match and after they split sets there is a bathroom break delay as Parks goes off court to change her kit. I see Sakkari having a full blown conversation with her coach. Not words of encouragement, or hand signals, she walks right up to where he is seated and they are having a back and forth discussion. Is this allowed? Did I miss something?
I always get Sasnovich and Samsonova confused. Had to google which one had a winning streak this year.
Yes, Samsonova is the one with the win streak, and coincidentally, she beat Rybakina in Tokyo just a little less than 3 weeks ago.
BC the draw is so stacked?Crazily, Samsonova is in the San Diego qualies.

Using the towel is legit, Mark. Didn't you see others play use the towels when receiving? I personally saw Federer did that, Djokovic did that, Nadal did that. And let's not forget the head games that Iga uses against most players.
Like holding up serve (as receiver) to go for the towel etc. when server
is standing WAITING TO SERVE.
Sure it's legit. When the server uses it too (so no time delay by the returner).Using the towel is legit, Mark. Didn't you see others play use the towels when receiving? I personally saw Federer did that, Djokovic did that, Nadal did that.
Neee.. there isn't.Except for a few wobbles at the end, Alex could easily have ended up winning this one.
There is not much between the two players.
And let's not forget the head games that Iga uses against most players.

The only time she's got a warning for delay of serve is below. She failed to return the previous point and walked right up to the towel tray (assuming) Pegula needs time to get the balls from the ball kids. Federer got a warning for the same reason and he argued with the umpire that he had to walk across the court to get the towel from the other side.Sure it's legit. When the server uses it too.
But when the server is standing waiting to serve, it's not legit.
That's called gamesmanship and may be illegal.
Iga v BK could be a good one. Crazy still that Iga has as many major titles as Ash Barty does.
looks like she is trying to rise to her spot as a No. 1. Hopefully the gamesmanship of youth is behind her.Parts of Iga's post match press conference:
Let's keep what I said in context OK?Neee.. there isn't.
Not counting of course 3 GS, bunch of 1000 level titles and the longest win streak this decade.
Other than that they are virtually the same.
And you should also add to your list of atrocities she commits her breathing and sweating.

Well, this is a match thread and obviously Iga didn't get any code violation during this match (or this tournament) so I will not go deep here. What I am understand for a gamesmanship in case of delay of serve is that you have time for doing what ever needed before your opponent is ready to serve but you don't do it. When your opponent is at the baseline to serve and you see it, you start doing your stuff, like going for the towel or just turn your back going to the wall. As I said, using the towel while receiving is legit, and you should do it as quickly as you can. Kader Nouni gave her the warning during the match against Pegula though she walked to the towel right after the previous point finished. You can see the sweat was all over the place on her arms, face,... and she just wiped them off and went back. You accused her of hold up the server in today's match against Alexandrova which is ridiculous. If had she done that, the same umpire Kader Nouni who also chaired today's match would have given her another warning. But that's my point.
She gets away with gamesmanship.
I started a thread on delaying between serves, but delaying before first serve is also a problem.
Players know the server has 25 seconds between points to do almost anything they want.
Show me the rule that states the returner has 25 seconds between points to do almost anything they want?
The rule that I am familiar with states that the returner plays at the server's pace.
What she did was subtle and not so subtle.... You accused her of hold up the server in today's match against Alexandrova which is ridiculous. If had she done that, the same umpire Kader Nouni who also chaired today's match would have given her another warning.
