This thread will be bumpin’ right after the Slam.

Abu Dhabi draw

28-player field, Bencic/Alexandrova/Tauson/Navarro are top 4 with byes.

Kenin v. Samsonova will begin while the men’s AO final is underway. @GoKenin

Transylvania draw

Raducanu/Cristian/Cirstea/Xinyu Wang lead the way. @Fintft

@NaomiKonjuhPotapova will find one name he likes in the draw too.

Ostrava draw

30-player field, Tatjana Maria & Arango get byes.

Both 250s are indoors.

Didn't there used to be an extra week before Abu Dhabi? Won't help them get good fields

Somehow Brit Webley-Smith, age 41 and ranked 1445, wangled her way into singles qualifying. Not even a potential prospect, just some random over the hill journeywoman. So weird.

Brenda Fruhvirtova is in Ostrava, ain’t seen her name in a minute.

Katie is there too, gets a 20-year old Czech.

shorter week this year, last year season starts at Dec 30

Monday’s 500 action.

This court has a cool teal/turquoise outer border, but the seats are 4 different colors. Gives the illusion of fans.

tough day for aussies Joint, Kasatkina lost. Kasatkina continue her slump 1-4 and we thank Sakkari
There's obviously something wrong going on with her. Maybe she needs to hire a new coach? Because with these results Adidas will stop using her in their adverts very very soon, even if they do it mostly for the purpose of diversity.

It's worrisome. She might quit and then we won't have the best source of WTA entertainment, their vlog.

Not even Emma could lose to Minnen. It gets tougher next though with Juvan and then potentially Danilovic after that

I'm giving Kartal a decent chance against Bencic.

Boulter plays Havlickova in the Czech Republic today. Shows how quickly she's fallen when she's only a marginal 2/3 favourite to beat the world number 276 (and on an indoor court).

Boom, Kenin/Krawczyk save 2 MPs to upset the 1-seeds in the 10-pt breaker.

Singles matches coming shortly at all 3 venues.

Kessler smoked Lelyah, Navarro lost with a WTA-special. 6-7(6), 6-0, 3-6

Toots failed yet again in Romania, Cristian survived in 3.

Katie served a deciding breadstick in Ostrava.

Can someone please find an easy way for me to remember the difference between Kessler and Kruger?

Seriously, I can NEVER remember which is which when reading their names. I know one is super tall...

Well, that piqued my interest so I looked up the result. She didn't lose too badly (4 and 3), although woman that beat her got beaten herself pretty easily in the next round of Q.

badosa looking good in that nike bathing suit
I know not everyone likes her, but Badosa always looks very good to me! That Nike kit is indeed awful though, as I can't see past the bathing suit thing.

Fernandez and Navarro need to get their seasons started or they'll be dropping out of the seeds by the next majors.
people have mentioned before but I haven't been able to catch one of her matches until now since she lost early at AO but yeah it looks like Navarro still needs to shed some of that holiday/winter weight.

Go katie volynets taking out the 1 seed slicer maria

After Boulter dropped the 2nd set in Rd One I messaged my friend and said "Boulter's gonna get pregnant and retire this year. She not interested anymore".

She's into the quarters.

So while Jaqueline Cristian lost drastically, Sorana Carstea is doing the opposite 6-1 6-0 (with the exact same score).

Commentator a bit too partison, imo. Keeps cheering on Eala and sounds disappointed whenever she loses a point.

Edit: Eala won and the commentator was celebrating as if it was his own daughter that had just won the match.. jeez, Sasnovich deserved some respect as well. She had the entire stadium against her.

Bartunková continuing to impress after her nice run at the Australian Open.
Raducanu struggling against the now veteran, former great Slovenian prospect, Kaja Juvan.

very entertaining first set in Raducanu vs Juvan. Juvan started hot. Going up 5-0 and breaking Raducanu's serve three straight times. Hitting winners all over the place.

Now seems to have cooled a little. And Raducanu has broken her back 2 straight times.
5-4 Juvan, serving for the set.

Was she a top prospect? I'm not surprised. This is the first I've heard of her, or seen her play. She can really hit the ball.
