WTA week of 2/3; Abu Dhabi 500 & Transylvania 250

Thoughts on this week (mainly Czechs)...

Great to see Vondrousova back with a few wins, really hope she is in top form for RG and Wimbledon as she could be damn interesting there.

Noskova beating Badosa - not sure what to read into this. Noskova is a good player on her day and perhaps Badosa is having a bit of a AO hangover?

Also nice that Kvitova is coming back. Not totally sure what she can achieve at 34 but she hits a big enough ball to cause an upset if she's on. Especially interested to see her in the grass season where she thrives most.

Safarova being back in doubles is great at 38. Would love more players to come back and play doubles as it would really make for a more exciting doubles tour. That's making me want one last Venus and Serena entry at Wimbledon or USO doubles.

Raducanu hype tennis wise needs to be officially over. She may accomplish something in the future but without a coach she is lost for the time being. Vondrousova is great but she's literally just returned. This just shows how media hype keeping her name in the headlines is nothing more than rage bait for fans who find her grossly overpaid and overhyped based on the past 3 1/2 years. I hope that ends for everyone's sake.

Pavs quit against Linette.

Someone named Ella Seidel beat Cristian in Romania, the home country players are not bowing up.

Rematch of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games Gold Medal match (actually 2021) in Abu Dhabi with Bencic up a set over Vondrousova. Bencic is further into her comeback than Vondrousova but still so impressive that she's pretty rapidly returned to top 20-30 level tennis.

Well, Elena managed to score a W in a tight TB.

Piggybacking on this thread since there's no thread - looks like the older Fruhvirtova (#195) got a bagel from the rising Thai player Sawangkaew (#121 now) in Mumbai Challenger 4-6,6-2,6-0.

Cluj-Napoca Day 4 Highlights. Seidel highlight starts at 06:07. Enviable 1HBH winner shot from Golubic at 05:05. The qualifier Seidel is match-tough from all the qualifying and challenger matches she has been playing. Let's see how she does against the #1 seed, Potapova

Kinda weird Abu Dhabi is already in the semis, guess they want to be wrapped up before Doha's Sunday start.

Rybakina v. Bencic
Krueger v. Noskova
