WTA week of 4/1; Charleston 500 & Bogota 250

Raducanu saying she'll skip the WTA Finals because they're held in Saudi Arabia.
Is her PR team two 3 year-olds playing with cubes? How do they let her utter such nonsense, she's #79 (!!) in the race.

Turns out it was clickbait/fake news. Awful.

I hope she’s thinking like you, which would give her a boost of motivation, as that’s what lacking in her lately.
Lately? Sloan can look completely lost at times.

Townsend's so far good run is this tournament is quite unexpected. She beat Alexandrova that did very well in her last tournament and is now troubling Vika big time...
Shouldn't this be far too slow surface for her to shine?
Townsend has always had a lot of potential, or a "high ceiling" as some like to call it. Her main issue is consistency, as she doesn't always have her best stuff. But in terms of skill with the racquet, she is definitely one of the best on tour. She's a way better hitter and tactical player than Gauff, for example, but obviously Gauff moves better and never stops trying.

Jabeur was the defending champ and lost easily to Collins.

She drops 3 spots to #9 in the world. She's currently 84th in the race rankings. Still holds her runner up Wimbledon points but she is headed for a plummet if she can't turn her game around.

I don't think she will but, she has looked broken and lost for quite some time now.

5-0 Maria, about to be curtains for Thursday.

Kudermetova beat BHM earlier, she'll play the Greek tomorrow.

Charleston QF's:

(1) Pegula v (12) Azarenka
(4) Kasatkina v Christian

(9) Kudermetova v (3) Sakkari
(11) Mertens v Collins

Pretty darn good lineup.

She is now 20th in the world. Another win here and I think she passes Keys for that third Olympic spot. Who the heck would have thought this?

Or do countries only get two spots I have forgot.

Collins, Keys and Navarro are all fighting for the last 2 Olympic spots.
