I'm tipping Sabalenka tomorrow too. Superb resilience from Swiatek today though. Could easily have packed in after a set and just told herself she didn't need this one.

Honestly, if she recovers from today and beats Sabalenka, it will be just as impressive for me as those W1000 titles.

Liudmila has nice legs!
She kind of had the physique of Sharapova? I noticed she did look really well conditioned.
I felt like her performance at the BJK Cup finals last year was a sign of what was to come this year, but so far her results haven't reflected that too much. A SF showing here was decent, and pushing the #1 to the edge. She's going to be a danger on grass for sure if she is able to carry this form through the clay season into the grass. It will be interesting to see her in Madrid, Rome and RG as Stuttgart not necessarily a marker for who is going to do well for the rest of the clay season as it's indoor and the conditions of the remaining clay events differ a fair amount.

This match is boring. I guess this is how everyone else felt about Pete Sampras in his prime. :sneaky: I love watching Iga but I think she’s at her best when she’s fighting to come back or figuring out how to fix what’s wrong.

The overrated Swiatek loses the first set to Samsonova

Overrated? The woman is on a 23-match winning streak with 4 titles in a row.

Get ready to be impressed.

Brilliant from Swiatek. What a performance.

Wouldn't be the worse thing for her to miss Madrid, would it? It doesn't even play the same as Rome/Paris.

Sabalenka meanwhile - very one dimensional, very poor

Me: Finally gets a decent stream, match is already over!

It's a shame I just don't have a life that allows me to follow tennis like I used to anymore, but it seems to me the WTA is enjoying a pretty cool phase. Barty retires and immediately Swiatek steps it up to produce a darn impressive streak of wins, in two different surfaces to boot. Very rewarding, I think.

Sabalenka a runner up for the 2nd straight year to the #1.

Last year to Barty, this year to Swiatek.

Both ladies had won the Miami Open on hard and come into Stuttgart on clay and won the title. Iga far more dominant.

My gosh I am ready for her to dominate at the slams, I hope she does so. She is flawless and playing so well.

Wow, hadn't paid any attention to WTA this week - watched highlights of Swiatek-Sabalenka. That was played at a high level. No idea how anyone beats Swiatek when she's in that much control and making such good decisions. Some really clean play from her in the victory. Sabalenka just had no idea what hit her - it didn't even look like she was playing badly - just got stomped.
