I want to see Svitolina v Putin. Fireworks.

Also NcNally v Neidmeier

Cocciaretto just beat Errani in the final of a clay 125 in Mexico. Sara turns right back around in Bogota.

Aren't we supposed to have SDL of Charleston (or does that different color than any other tournament mean it has dropped off this year)? Not that I have any illusion doing well in it... win one, drop immediately in the next.

Gauff not playing Charleston? Could be tired and/or needs to work on some things, but it's such a big event and really close since she lives and trains in Florida.

J-peg just goes right into another tournament. She must really love to compete.
She really must. I think most top players enjoy their tennis careers broadly even if it's often a grind. Pegula is one of those players who seems to enjoy it more immediately and just really likes the travel, the tournaments, talking to other players, competing generally, etc. Hantuchova, among others, was this.

With Pegula there might be a bit of regret she didn't get this good until quite late in her career, and now she's going to squeeze as much as she can out of it.

Svitolina playing insane good,, after being out for so long... very surprising.

Looks like Sabine's last main draw match was Hamburg in July '22, more recent than I would have guessed.

Sara must just love tennis man.
Honestly, I really pull for Erani. Seems like she has a chip on her shoulder, and I love how intense she is. She is the "bad girl" of women's tennis, and I like that!

I find Fruhvirtova annoying.
I know what you mean. I want to root for her, but something about her attitude is just really annoying.

This is just gravy for her. She never had any of the pressure to succeed that many of the other players have/had. Her financial future was never in doubt. All she had to do was keep plugging in her effort to prove that she wasn't just some super wealthy girl tying to make it in pro tennis because she had nothing better to do. And she achieved that goal. She proved that she "belongs" on the pro tour. Now her parents don't have to be embarrassed when someone at a party asks about their kid that doing that tennis thing...

Replying to my own post because sheesh, she only went and did it! How often do you see a world number 800+ take out no 80?
It's the WTA tour. Anything is possible.

Svitolina looks great, too! Glad she’s back!
She does look good, although I had almost forgotten how terrible her thigh tattoo looks. At least Sabalenka no longer has the worst tattoo in the WTA.

Lol, I always liked her thigh tattoo, though I don’t actually know what it is!

Looks like Sabine's last main draw match was Hamburg in July '22, more recent than I would have guessed.

She seems to have got into a pattern of turning up at a random event, winning a couple of rounds, getting beat, then going off to work on her fitness for 2 or 3 months, as if she wasn't fully satisfied with how it felt somehow. She's had ITF play since Hamburg, sure of it. Still got that serve though - 17 aces in the first match this week.

Edit - hard luck story of the day; L. Carle of Argentina earns 3 match points after 3hrs and 25 mins. But she blows them all, losing 5 consecutive points to lose the match.

Sloan stephens using Green string on her racket........ why did she dump confidenctial and what is that green string ????? Confidential 2 ????

This is pretty sad.

Muguruza who's been "enjoying time away from the sport" is extending it and will miss both clay and grass season.

Maybe retirement isn't too far away.
I think this is good news. Even if she doesn't manage to come back, no point in getting beat up week after week.

We'll just have to see. Garbine might come back for one more tilt if she misses it, and then if she still does rubbish, maybe retire then.

Or she might not even do that. Presumably she's minted (24 million in career prize money according to wiki).

Edit - her net worth is apparently 12mil. Emma Raducanu meanwhile, who has still had just one good tournament, has a net worth of 10mil at almost a decade younger than Muguruza.

You gotta know when to fold ‘em, when to walk away, as the great Kenny Rogers say… lol… Pliskova, GM, Venus should all call it a career. Time to enjoy the sunshine and rest old weary bodies.

I saw that same number, and although it's already ridiculous considering her one fluke result, I actually thought it would be higher. Didn't she get something crazy like 40 million in sponsorship deals immediately after the USO?

We always tease/troll/joke about how horrible Ostapenko’s outfits look, but mmmaaannnnn!!!……… Danielle is such a pretty lady but WHO PICKED HER KIT??!!! Black top, glam purple skort, pale yellow shoes! :X3: :p
