WTA week of 4/5; Charleston 500 & Bogota 250

There's often plenty of excitement and drama when Cornet is involved !

Osorio backing up her title win last week by beating the 2nd seed was very nice to see. A lot can happen and there's a lot of competition out there, but I would love to see her establishing herself as a tour level player.

That was an excellent rally for Tauson to stave off break point at 3-4

Edit: and an ace to secure the hold. This Tauson is a tough cookie!

I briefly checked the score when Tauson was down 1-4 in the second set. I was pretty sure we were going into a third! And yet here we are, at 5*-4 Tauson.

Watching McHale and Spanish champion Osoro Serrano! McHale in the second set to close it out! Now, 6-5.McHale serving for all the marbles!

Watch the new American Alycia Parks, 20 year old from unknown! A total mystery player! Even Tracy Austin is lost tiID her fully!

Alycia Parks, is a very impressive play with lots of talent and has powerful weapons - serve, volleys, groundstrokes. Impressive and good athletic too. Looks like a young Serena Williams to me.

Nice win. Watched the match. Some serving issues to work out, but she looks very solid from the baseline already.

Rogers vs Kovinic should make for a pretty good match. Really liking Danka's game as of late. Did anyone else have to Google where Montenegro was? :giggle:

Poor Tauson. I hope she recovers soon and isn't out of action for too long. She has made nice progress this year. The way that Cami comforted and consoled her afterwards was very classy. An excellent combination of both battling qualities during the match and empathy afterwards there.

Ahead of the match, Cami had said that she was excited about playing a rival from her junior days in a WTA quarter-final, and also happily brought up the fact that Clara, Leylah and her all won junior grand slams 2 years ago and then their first WTA titles within the past few weeks. I was going to mention that Cami's string of victories, now 8 in a row, must be putting her close to an RG main draw place. However then I realised that the cut-off date for that has already passed. Anyway hopefully she progress as far up the rankings as possible.

After the umpiring farce that took place during Sharma's match in Bogota last week, and the fact that she lost a lot of ranking points, I'm happy to see her doing well and stringing some victories together this week. And Kovinic and Jabeur will face each other in the semi-finals for a second straight week.
