A lot of Brits here again, Boulter &/or Burrage may bolt.

Venus tries again. Svitolina v. Linda F in R1.

Not sure which slam final loss was worse:
Lisicki losing WImbledon 2013 after beating Stosur 3R, then the #1 defending champ and reigning RG champ Serena 4R and also #4 Radwanska in a SF thriller. All before losing to Bartoli who had such an easy draw.
Or:
Stosur's 2010 RG loss where she beat Henin 4R (giving Justine her first loss at RG in 24 matches), then #1 and reigning AO & Wimbledon champ Serena in the QF and then #4 Jankovic in the SF. Before losing to Schiavone.

I’m sure I’ve told this before, oh well. Was a big Stosur fan back then, dug the Oakleys. French final comes on at like 7-8 am here, but I’ve got a day-long softball tourney, so I’m doing good at avoiding spoilers. Finally sit down at Hooters many hours later, first damn scroll I see on ESPN’s bottom line is the FO scoreline. To this day, have still never watched the match.

Depends whether Venus is there by wildcard or on merit. I could understand the decision if it was Serena. Venus though has not been competitive for a long long time now. There is little to no prospect of her making inroads into the tournament.

Berlin does indeed look a great draw. Slightly surprised Swiatek hasn't joined in (unless she's waiting for Eastbourne?). If last year's Wimbledon is anything to go by, she needs the grass court practice more than most people in the top 10.

Re Burrage and Boulter; they may push their bodies given how much they rely on the grass for points. Boulter in particular had no three setters last week and still looked fresh by the end. Burrage was a bit more knackered. I could see Dart beating Burrage if that match goes ahead.

Linda now leading 5-0 again in set 2. Basically powerful groundstrokes and mid-court slices giving troubles to Svitolina. Plus, Svitolina's not playing at her best - looking at her box in frustration 'cause she was missing a lot of balls she normally would not miss.
