WTA week of 9/16; Seoul 500 & Hua Hin 250

It's great to see carol zhao play s&v and variety against her opponent deyoung back. Gadecki did some yesterday as well in the other tournament.

Sloane lost, unreal.
Sloane wants a piece of Zhang's losing streak it seems.
Pretty sure the year she won the USO she went on a big losing streak too.
I know she's just released a body care line which must take up a fair bit of time but she's also travelling across the world to lose R1. She won in doubles yesterday but she's not a top doubles player like Zhang making the latter stages of tournaments playing doubles - I really don't know how she has the motivation to continue at this stage.

So close for Peyton Stearns, would have been great to see her get a win.
As for sloane, it'd be interesting to see what her coach and team have to say about her form and training.

She also has a podcast to promote. I honestly think she is playing now just to keep her name out there, to help get the ball rolling on her post career activities.

And looking at these draws, these tournaments are basically free points grabs. These are basically challenger level draws with WTA level points.

Good to see Zidansek and Volynets scrape out wins, and always nice to see Parks lose (especially to the hated Seigemund).

About a month ago some social media pundit fat shamed Anisimova. That's a dangerous slope. I watched her match against Putinseva, she looked leaner than ever. Hmmm? She played really well in the first set and won.

looking at past winners for Korea Open, there are some big names there: Sharapova, Vaidisova, Woz, Pliskova, Venus.

Now we probably getting Baptiste vs Tomova final.

In serious note, team Diana all the way.
Insane that Shnaider could win title #4 this year here. Wonder when the last time a player won 4 of their first titles in the same year.

Think it might be Halep in 2013 where she won her first title and then won 5(!) more.

Ok, it's just Seoul "challenger" but I have told you that Polina Kudermetova has much more talent/potential than her ranking has shown as a pro (She was once junior nr.4!!!) She should just have a strict coach that makes her really play and gets her hungry for success. Usually she is like she is just hitting there and doesn't really care how the match goes!

Laura won in over 4 hours.
Damn, that sounded interesting high drama match that I would have liked to watch! And 4 hours is not much for somebody that grew up watching clay court matches with e.g. Wilander and Lendl that went on for long, very long.

Good to see Zidansek and Volynets scrape out wins, and always nice to see Parks lose (especially to the hated Seigemund).
Why the dislike for Parks?

Laura wins the breaker, but the chair deserves the sh*t she’s getting.
What happened?
Laura won in over 4 hours.
Wow, must have been pretty epic. What was the incident with the chair about?

Why the dislike for Parks?
Her attitude seems truly awful. And my judgement on that is based largely on an incident she had earlier in her career. You can find it on Youtube, but she basically tried to start a fight with her opponent after losing a match, and then made some seemingly specious claims to justify it.

Haha yeah.
That thicker outfit with a collar looks more suited for a cool english summer. Before even counting other layers.
In that hot seoul weather, less of an outfit is more and better than being uncomfortably sweaty.

Aside - ig post below "green or nothing" .
Wow, she looks fantastic in those pictures. Berrettini must be kicking himself right now. If a player has a six-pack midriff like that, she should certainly be showing it off. Kudos to her.

One of the Wangs hit a ball on the line, it was clearly, loudly called out. Laura played it, because, well, tennis players are taught to play balls on the line. Hawkeye showed it was in, chair inexplicably gave the point to Wang, Laura correctly lost her sh*t.

1000% the point should have been replayed, it was a serious goat blank.
