Good run for Swan (and gets a winnable match against Bucsa next). Katie Boulter though sadly blew a 3-1 final set lead against Tserenko.

Raducanu a doubt to play Rd 1 after pulling out of a warm up match.

I wonder if 'Britwatch' will survive 24 more hours.

What the hell is Emma’s excuse this week? Tonsillitis usually ain’t a long-term deal.

No idea, and the Kovinic match is still on.

Could end up being the 2nd time in Kovinic's career she gets a win against an injured Raducanu (her hand was massively buggered the last time they played).

Then again, this could all be a storm in a teacup. A overblown precautionary thing etc.

That's a new ploy I haven't seen before.
Sherif is one second away from being called for too much time before serving.
She is just about to throw the ball up, which is when the umpire stops the clock. Then she stops the serve and starts bouncing the ball again for a few seconds! Clearly a time violation but the umpire said nothing.

I wonder if Shapo would approve of Fruity1's between the legs ball bouncing technique? If so, maybe a marriage in heaven awaits?
Congrats Fruity1 on the victory today!

Another British calamity. A week after Dart blowing match points in Texas, Katie Swan blows a 5-3 lead in the first set tie break then SIX set points in set 2.

I was going to post something on this a week ago and I can't remember if I did. Basically, if a player does several bad ball tosses (deliberately), could they get more time?

Yeah that's another related matter that I often see.
I don't know if players are doing this deliberately or not, but I've seen it many times and not once has a player even gotten a warning for it.

the attendance is pathetic, the middle east swing had more audience in the stadium than IW

Kal was trying hard to lose the 2nd game but failed. :)
She served four double faults but still won the game.
Three doubles in a row!

I turned on this match. 4 straight point AParks couldn’t find the blue.
Gets Stadium court at prime time.:sneaky:

Wow, she looks even worse than she did in Austin, I can't figure out what's going on with Parks.

Raducanu still hasn't pulled out. Impressive is this. She's having a good tournament so far. I don't know if the bandages on the wrists are a worrying sign though (?).

How is she having a good tournament so far? She hasn't played since the Aussie Open as far as I can tell??

Lol at Manimal… she was behind 5-2, got back to 5-4. So she was mad at change over because TC camera was “too close to her so she screamed at it, and left the bench.
Still lost the set.

ER tried hard to give the match to Kovinic, but DK said “nah thanks, I’m good!”.

BTW, Kovinic was also the poor sacrificial lamb served up to SW in the 1st round of the last USO. Talk about an unfortunate trivia answer….

That was a dumb match from Kovinic. Raducanu is apparently suffering from both a wrist injury and an illness. She did look wheezy and slow whenever she had to move to one side. Kovinic just kept going for too much. Not sure why any player wouldn't just try and keep the ball in play against Raducanu right now.

Because of misplaced white guilt.
The American public is waiting for a new star, she started the year off very well so Tennis Channel was hoping she could sustain it, but she's struggling right now. No need to make a post like that.

Looked like Raducanu hit some nice winners in the highlights. Hard to just keep the ball in play when she's striking it like that.
