Throwing this out there for opinions..

How many double faults per set do you think a player has to make before it's starting to become a noticable weakness?

It depends on how good the other serves are. If you are a high risk / high reward server you can tolerate some. If you are "just getting the point started" you probably can't tolerate more than a couple.

OTOH, I've never agreed with the coaches who say a double fault is the worst sin in tennis and must be avoided at all costs. I don't see why it's any worse than making an UE off a neutral return by the opponent or losing every 2nd serve point by teeing it up.

That was an impressive shot. It is extremely hard to hit a ball perfectly on the very edge of the frame like that. Harder than hitting a fastball in baseball.

How wonderful for WTA that while Swiatek is flopping when it matters Rybakina and sabalenka are building on their slam wins.

Sabalenka's AO was a fluke. She lacks the IQ to even come close to Iga. Just watch her Double Fault finals away in the future too. Insane stupidity

yap, totally agree.
Although somewhat surprisingly the facts show neither Sabalenka nor Rybakina managed to win a tournament following their Slam win (obviously that will change today). While Swiatek won 11 tournament following her first Slam title, including 2 more Slams and 5 WTA 1000 level.

The most surprising thing about the 2nd set is that Sabakenka hasn't hit a single double fault in blustery conditions.

Will be a terrible collapse if Rybakina doesn't win from here.

Rybakina really relaxed this set and went full throttle after being kind of nervy in the 1st set. That return to break was ridiculous and lethal. Sabalenka's intensity dropped off in the 2nd.

I'm hesitant to write her off completely, because I was 100% sure she'd never win a single major and she proved me wrong on that.

But until proven otherwise it's hard not to think of the AO as a fluke. Like it was the law of averages finally breaking her way, where her all out aggression somehow kept landing in. Like Cilic's USO.

Good to see Rybakina come through. Mental gymnastics should never be rewarded in sports. Congrats to Sabalenka to the dumbest performance I have seen in quite a while.

The WTA is in a slump in the post-Williams era. Apparently you can be a world #1 contender without even being able to hit serves into the court.
Bad tie break really

But lots of attacking tennis. I like it.

And man - I like it way better than Serena of the last 5 years. She would hit, I would go read a chapter, walk the dog, or make a sandwich … and she’d almost be ready to hit again. Also - Did not care for her attitude w officials.

Nothing personal but I like the new crop better.

Saba can't play in the wind (even with my racquet?)...Someone tell her that we'd make beautiful babies...
Ryba has a cool sister and smiles a lot :)
