Ah, missed the second set!

Congrats to Safin, though, another good win and best of luck against Andreev!

Davai Marat!!

Its really good to see Safin win. With him retiring it would be great to see him have one last big win in front of the russian crowd as he has been a great davis cup player over the years

would any russian deny marat his last year in st. petersburg? i dont think so

marat already up a break 3-1, now serving 40-30

wow!I wasn't watching the screen for a min,and that breaking racquet by Safin sounded like a gunshot to me!lol

and he starts teh second set with a break.Nice :)

Suprised this match is getting more attention from people on here :S

anyways, it's 5-4 in the third with marat serving to stay in it

safin should win that set because that would mean hes won the match and then gets to participate in the final

Would have been nice to see Safin go all the way here but what can you do,see in you Paris Marat.I thought he'll win the 3d set the way it started,he seemed to have the momentum but didn't go that way.

damned, again... that was a golden opportunity to get a last title. :(

Stakhovsky wins 2-6, 7-6 (8 ), 7-6 (7)
Crap!

Good efford for Racho. I'm so giving him a wedgie for losing as soon as he gets home! :p

Stakhovsky has won 2 career titles, one as a lucky loser(2008 Zagreb) & one as a qualifer(St Petersburg)

Now he just needs one as a wild card...

is there any player that has won more than 2 tournaments as a qualifier (or LL) ?

i remember yahiya doumbia winning lyon in 1988, and bordeaux in 1995... both as a qualifier !!! :)
(his only finals on the main tour !)

Nb: paul-henri mathieu won back-to-back tournaments at moscow-lyon in 2002, the 1st one as a qualifier, the 2nd one as a SE (special exempt).

Zeballos had an 5-3 ATP career record before this tourney. In fact, he reached the final in his 4th ATP event ever :)

He's not only from my city. He's a friend of mine. And we played together (or against each others) for years.

I'm proud to say I have 12 wins over the (now) #42 ranked player in the world :D
