It certainly does. We have a Thursday night social with players from 3.0-4.5 (most are computer rates BTW). Being a 4.5, I usually try to not be the first server. I'll let the opponents or my partner serve first. Ill return conservatively cross court the first game until I figure out everyone's ability. Then, by the time I serve I know whether to hit hard first serves or to just spin them in. When it is apparent the level is 7.0 mixed, I'll play conservatively cross court. When it is 8.5 men's combo, I'll play noticeably more aggressive. People certainly get pegged. No one gets upset by it. Note, when I was 21 I wouldn't have thought of this. It's something you learn over time and get used to.
