Lakers play in the Paper Fasteners Center now and split time there with a team called the Clippers. Plans are underway with Clippers owner Microsoft giant Steve Ballmer to privately fund a new arena near The Forum, which is still open but owned by the New York Knicks parent company. Inglewood, where The Forum is located, has become very “sexy” due to the nearby LA Rams stadium to open during 2020’s football season.

A Donovan song titled Mellow Yellow uses a double meaning/usage of the word/name “Saffron.” Just when you think Donovan is solely into food colored with the yellow spice (most expensive in the world!), the young Scot turns the table:

I’m just wild about Saffron
She’s just wild about me

Years later I discovered the English actress Saffron Burrows and always think of this song when I see her in a role in film or television.

War war is stupid and people are stupid

And love means nothing in some strange quarters

. . . sings Boy George but let's forget the doom and gloom a second because some lucky punter won more than £400,000 for £6 bet in Melbourne Cup

The first-four bet won the punter A$793,842

A punter in Australia won almost A$800,000 (£425,0000/€494,000) from a A$10 stake on the Lexus Melbourne Cup after an anxious 20-minute wait for the result of the stewards' inquiry.
The Sportsbet user placed A$10 (£6.13/€5.27) on a first-four prediction and needed Vow And Declare to win, Prince Of Arran to finish second, Il Paradiso to come third and Master Of Reality to take fourth.
Master Of Reality, partnered by Frankie Dettori for Joseph O’Brien, was second past the post, but had bumped the Aidan O’Brien-trained Il Paradiso, who finished fourth past the post after his late surge through the field was impacted by the interference.

Much to the punter's delight, the inquiry was upheld, with Prince Of Arran and Il Paradiso moving above Ascot Gold Cup third Master Of Reality, who was demoted to fourth in a decision that cost connections a whopping A$750,000, but won the bettor A$793,842.

Dettori, who described the interference as "very minimal" to the stewards, was hit with a nine-meeting suspension.

"Safe to say our punter would have been incredibly happy with Frankie Dettori's aggressive ride," Sportsbet's Rich Hummerston said. "This is the modern day rags-to-riches story."

Out of bratty JMac’s mouth came a lot of salty statements but the most famous is probably, “You cannot be serious! That ball was on the line. Chalk flew up!” He followed that up by saying about the umpire and the referee called in that “You guys are the absolute pits of the world.”

The trouble with having too much [money]:

- Jealousy [why him/her?]
- not deserving [of success]
- greedy [others might think, but then they'll start]
- pitching and expecting a yes!
- if you are generous
- they'll think you are cheap [for handouts deemed too little for someone having so much]

"Accept" to "Uppsala" does not compute, but "breakup" to "Uppsala" works, and Rafa and I posted at the same time. She beat me by a few seconds, something that I need to accept.

The Black Hole was probably the safest place in the stadium when the Raiders played in Los Angeles.

"Smooth Operator" was a Sade song about Torquay's favourite hotel proprietor, Basil Fawlty.

Even though the comedy series Fawlty Towers was based in Torquay none of the show was ever filmed on the English Riviera. The one strong connection with the show was Hotel Gleneagles, but this property was demolished for redevelopment in 2016. This was where John Cleese and the Monty Python team first encountered hotel proprietor, Donald Sinclair, who would become the inspiration for one of comedy’s most famous characters.

During their stay at the hotel the Monty Python team experienced first hand the eccentricities of Donald Sinclair. Most notably Sinclair berated Terry Gilliam for using his knife and fork incorrectly and throwing Eric Idle’s bag over a wall believing it contained a bomb (it actually turned out to be a ticking alarm clock!).

While many of the Monty Python team decamped to the Imperial Hotel, John Cleese decided to stay on and take notes. He even invited his wife, Connie Booth (who later played Polly in the series) to come down and join him at Hotel Gleneagles. This was the beginning of one of the most famous and popular comedies of all time.

Budapest is the capital of Hungary. Hungary's 1989 decision to open its borders with Austria to help East German refugees flee to West Germany was a key factor in preparing for the German reunification and, interestingly, today, November 9, 2019, marks the 30th anniversary of the demolition of the Berlin Wall.
