Evolution education wound up being a court case in a Tennessee court less than a century ago. Imagine a 21st century high school biology teacher being charged for a crime for educating his students about Darwinism!

The Scopes trial in 1925 was brought to the screen 35 years later with Spencer Tracy portraying my second most favorite attorney role (Atticus Finch by Gregory Peck will always be first!) as Henry Drummond (a fictionalized Clarence Darrow) representing Bertram Cates (John Scopes and played by Bewitched star Dick York). The case was covered nationally in the press and ( @Sentinel will love this!) Gene Kelly was cast as the journalistic equivalent to H.L. Mencken.

The film was directed by Hollywood giant Stanley Kramer, a craftsman with a conscience, as best displayed in Judgement At Nuremberg and Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner, both of which were collaborative works with the legendary Spencer Tracy.

I really miss people of substance in the cinema industry but cheap action with no content sells these days.

These days are strange days, indeed.

Everybody's talking and no one says a word
Everybody's making love and no one really cares
There's Nazis in the bathroom just below the stairs
Always something happening and nothing going on
There's always something cooking and nothing in the pot
They're starving back in China so finish what you got

Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Strange days indeed -- strange days indeed

Everybody's runnin' and no one makes a move
Everyone's a winner and nothing left to lose
There's a little yellow idol to the north of Katmandu
Everybody's flying and no one leaves the ground
Everybody's crying and no one makes a sound
There's a place for us in the movies you just gotta lay around

Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Strange days indeed -- most peculiar, mama

Everybody's smoking and no one's getting high
Everybody's flying and never touch the sky
There's a UFO over New York and I ain't too surprised

Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Strange days indeed -- most peculiar, mama

Strange days have found us
Strange days have tracked us down

They're going to destroy
Our casual joys

We shall go on playing
Or find a new town

Yeah!

Strange eyes fill strange rooms
Voices will signal their tired end
The hostess is grinning
Her guests sleep from sinning

Hear me talk of sin
And you know this is it

Yeah!

Strange days have found us
And through their strange hours
We linger alone
Bodies confused
Memories misused

As we run from the day
To a strange night of stone

Stone The Crows were a British blues band I saw and heard on a beautiful day at the Crystal Palace grounds in London, Other artists on the bill for the one-day festival included Roxy Music and Arlo Guthrie, who of course performed his Coming Into Los Angeles tune that begins with this lyric:

Coming in from London via over the pole
Flying in a big airliner
Chickens flying everywhere around the plane
Could we ever feel much finer?

Coming into Los Angeles
Bring in a couple of keys
Don’t touch my bags if you please
Me. Customs man!

Hollywood’s famous sign on Mount Lee in the Hollywood Hills was first erected in 1923 to advertise a real estate development and was shortened from the original Hollywoodland verbiage in 1949 when the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, in tandem with LA Parks Department, took over responsibility for maintenance of the iconic sign.

Music merged with old Hollywood California dreams in the teenage mind of Lizzy Grant of Upstate New York. She collected old footage from the internet and made music videos, changed her name, and cast herself as the lead character in her fantasy reality.

"It's just us two!"

Stringertom slowly awakens to a hand on his shoulder shaking him.

"It's just us two, Stringertom!"

His eyes slowly open and the blurry figure of a man stands over him. It's the Mira Mesa Maestro.

"Stringertom, there has been a nuclear catastrophe and we are the only two left alive! Let's get breakfast!"

Stringertom screams.

Anonymous and large was the donation from a wealthy benefactor that kept the Scottish isle of Eigg afloat when the less than benevolent land baron deserted the few hundred citizens of the isolated island off the west coast of Skye.

It is such a cool place that any trip I am fortunate enough to make on a return to Scotland will include a stayover with all those good eggs.

Paris Opera Ballet is one of the topmost ballet companies in the world and was the home company to the beautiful Sylvie Guillem, a technically strong ballerina with the most amazing extensions I have ever witnessed.

Vienna sausage [my meal in a can; aside from Guinness] with Ritz crackers alternating with Mac n' Cheese while saving up for a Bimmer whilst juggling with uni studies and chasing girls--on an extremely low budget. Someone asked me, which'd you rather have first, that girl who's got that thing or a shiny Bimmer?

Dreaming of recurrent sex dreams.

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality

Open your eyes

No, I won't wake up cuz dreams are uninhibited and spicier than fantasy or even reality.

We'll always be together
However far it seems
(Love never ends)
We'll always be together

Together in electric dreams

Trophy, when I hear or see this word, I'd immediately think of muscle hypertrophy but with which is remotely associated with a certain San Diegan. The sureshian on-court yuge exertions should've resulted in ginormous growth and increase in musculature., yet he is rotund as a rotunda amidst all those physical exertion and weight training--where did it go wrong?!
