China already has a women's GS champion and top 10 player in Li Na.
When will we see a men's GS champion from China? That could mean huge for China's 1.3 billion people and for tennis in terms of market.
The 17 y.o. Yibing Wu from China has just won boy's singles AND doubles title at US Open. He followed these with an impressive title run at Shanghai challenger beating veteran Lu Yen-hsun (#62) in the final. He is ranked 320 and receives a wildcard into the upcoming Shanghai Masters.
Although juniors champion doesn't always translate into success in pro tennis, there is hope.

It would be wonderful if Yibing Wu ("Jason" to those of us in the Western world who are pathetic in terms of Chinese languages) progressed and won a number of titles. He is likable and talented.

His game looks good. Serve not great but ok but both groundies are quite strong.

However he didn't really progress much at all in the world ranking this year. This seems to happen to quite a few Asian players. They win junior tournaments and then don't really get good.

If you didn't get it maybe I should repeat the joke enough times and eventually you would get it.

Do you see what I did here? :)

And he beat Isner in 3 tiebreakers to when his 1st ATP title in Dallas!
Yeah and he saved so many championship points!!! Incredible match!!!!

First Chinese citizen to win an ATP Tour title!!!!

I'm glad he succeeded, achieved a history win for his country

Just watched the match highlights. Good thing is he doesnt grunt : ) He seemed to hold his nerve well during big moments. Tough loss for Isner.
