Yonex 2015-2016 models grip size. Are they still thick bare handle and thin stock grip?

I read some old posts at the forum advising a size smaller grip if you are planning to change the stock grip on yonex racquets.
Are their bare handles still thicker and stock grips still thinner?

I will be purchasing a dr98 soon. I plan to remove stock yonex grip and put wilson shock shield hybrid comfort+overgrip on the bare handle.

(My Wilson racquets are are 4 3/8 premium leather + overgrip and they feel perfect.)

So shall i get the dr98 4 1/4 ?

Grip is still the same but the size of the handle feels 1/4 to 1/2 size bigger compared to Ai line.
Yani 3/8 almalisin ama birazcik daha kalin gelecek Wilson'a gore.

ok/tamam :)

Today i purchased the 3/8 grip because with the current stock grip on it it didn`t feel any major different from the Wilson`s i have/(had)
It is 13.7 oz and i am not planning to put any thick/heavy grip to keep the weight below 12. Maybe a thin synthetic soft replacement grip and an over grip. I guess i should be fine.

Abi I suppose you meant to say 11.7 oz, not 13.7.
Enjoy your racquet and string it at lower tension to add some power/spin as it has phenomenal control anyway.
Babolat skin feel grip is very thin and light.

Yes, I had to remove the yonex handle and replace with a custom wilson handle and add a leather grip. The 330 Duel G is perfect with the mod.

I haven' tried them side-by-side (but do own/have owned every frame I make ref to), but ime, the grip size on the AI98, AI100 and DR98 are bigger than one the Duel G97 (310) and SV98 (305). The latter, I've been able to use with OG without any mod, the others not. That being said, the perception of size is very individual, and can often be related to pref in the actual shape of the octagon (ref. Angell's A/B/C shapes). All things being equal I find a Head type (A) feels smaller than the others, meaning that for me a size 2 A feels smaller than a size 2 C f.inst. Another factor is also the grip, some are softer than others as well as thicker (build more).

Yonex grips feel B'sh.

Interesting topic as I have been dealing with this recently.
I was given a Duel G with a 1/4 grip. I wanted to put leather on, so I put a Wilson leather grip. The darn thing felt like it was suddenly a 1/2 grip (normallly use 3/8 with leather and 1 tourna grip).
I almost immediately removed the leather and put on a Gamma synthetic grip, it still felt huge! It felt like it was 7/16.
I took that off and ordered a Prince Resithin grip because tw doesn't sell Yonex replacement grips. Now it feels right.

I agree that Yonex's handles are slightly bigger than most.

All true, when comparing brands the distance from bevel 3-7 is where I notice if something feels wrong. When compiled some measurements from various racquets bare handles without grips my Tour G 330 was the biggest #3 while the RF was among the smallest #4. That is partially due to the marketed size being with a standard grip installed which are of different thickness.
