Living in Canada means demo both is not an option, else wouldn't make this poll.

Money is not a concern but spending less would still be nice.
Well I mean, have you hit with either of them? What racquet are you coming from? What are you looking for? Lots of questions.

But as for the Ai vs DR, they are very similar. I believe the DR is a little bit stiffer.

I hit DR with poly once, feels nice and firm, but my elbow can't take anything with poly, and no, trying with multi/gut is not an option for me, so again, the reason I made this thread is because demo is not an option.

Currently playing with price 100t lead up to 327g 330 sw, also tried 100p, not enough spin and too much power, tried 2014 tour 18*20, amazing control, but too low powered and not enough spin. Playing fine with 100t in term of control and spin, but feeling shot quality is low, the ball is very light, very easy to hit bac, which was not the case with my old Donny X-blue 99.

I went from a few different prince tour 100 frames to an AI98 some time back and enjoyed it. It will probably give you what you're looking for

It's a tough question especially if you can't demo.

I didn't like the Ai98 as it felt too mushy and lacked feel, the Dr98 was much better IMO but amongst my other friends, we are split on which is better.

This is how I would rate the 2, power Dr, spin Dr, feel Dr, comfort Ai. The main difference to me is how crisp the Dr feels vs the Ai and how much better I can feel the ball on the stringbed.

Thanks, any idea how your friends think of them in term of spin control etc?

A couple of my friends preferred the Ai98 over the Dr98 as they said it had more plow through and feel which I totally disagreed lol!

As far as what a lot of others posters have said, it's harder to gel with the Ai98 as it is more muted and quite a few including myself couldn't connect with it.

When I was hitting with it, I wasn't able to gauge where my shots were going as I couldn't feel the ball on the string bed well. I just felt more confident hitting with the Dr than the AI.

Before I go further, if you are around the 3.5 level I would say skip the Ai/Dr98 and get the Ai100 instead. A lot of the negatives of the Ai/Dr98 aren't present in the 100 series.

Control, feel, power is as good in the Ai100 as in the Dr98 and it has very good spin overall plus it's cheaper to boot.

I preferred the ai98, I felt like I got more spin. felt like the ball sat on the strings longer and let me put more work on it and swing harder without fear of it sailing (hit more balls long with DR), with DR it felt like it left the stringbed sooner. DR definitely feels firmer, and has more power in top of the stringbed, which is really my only knock against the ai98. I'm currently using dr 98 lite with a small amount of lead, and feel like I'm getting a softer feel compared the heavy dr, but still not as much spin as ai98. I found that I like the feel of lead at 3/9 regardless of starting weight, and with the stock ai98 and dr98, they just got a little tiring as the day went on. definitely need to try the ai98 lite, could be just the ticket for me
