Yonex EZONE 100 2025 — A Top Gun of Racquets

I have to say that TW rating of 90 for this frame is not an exaggeration. This is an incredible frame.

It is an F-14, Top Gun of racquets. Hits big, hits deep, hits with control.

Yes, it feels dampened but it rewards you with ball pocketing, power and control that I have not experienced with any other racquet.

I would say it is like 2022 Speed Pro but with more power and much better maneuverability while maintaining a similar control and launch angle. It has a pretty tight string bed for a 16x19 so you get very nice and controllable launch angle and ball direction.

The frame in the head is thick(er), so the stability is top notch. It makes returns and groundstrokes super controllable.

Serves are outstanding. Tight(er) string pattern, high maneuverability and “chunky” head makes serving an exhilarating experience. Flat, slice, kick/top spin …

At the net, stability plus maneuverability make this racquet a volleying and overhead “axe”. Precise and powerful.

Super comfortable. Unbelievable so.

Honestly, I cannot think of any faults about this racquet. I cannot wait to go back to court and play. I will also definitely buy a second one to have a backup.

So, if you like to hit hard and heavy, with control, I don’t think I can think of a better frame. Yonex again hit the magic sweet spot.

Right now I have it strung with Hyper G hybrid. I am interested in trying “crisper” strings like Tour Bite or Tourna Silver 7 Tour to see if I get more “signal” as @TK Tennis calls it.

Otherwise — a five star racquet.

Great to hear. I demoed mine with the Rexis multi and loved it, ordered with nxt and not quite as nice. I added a leather grip and 3 grams in the throat and it feels better. I think i will string with gut mains next and continue to play with the weight

There are a bunch of comparisons online between the new PD and Ezone 100 and I've yet to see one where at the end they didn't ultimately prefer the PD if they had to choose. If you are a Yonex person then yes it's great but I think the PD is better especially now that it's more comfortable.

@eb_tennis_247 great review, I couldn’t agree more. I use Rexis Speed 1.25 in mine and love it. The racket is everything you say, it gives you easy power and serving is a joy. I find it really excels off the ground. I find myself punishing balls I used to just keep in. The frame breeds confidence.

@Dadof2wildmonkeys as noted I’m a Rexis user and confirmed. Thanks for the NXT comparison, further confirmation I don’t need to try anything else. I have leather on both of mine but did not do anything else. They are perfect for me.

I think the EZ100 is a fantastic frame and the ‘25 version a welcomed update.

Can you compare it with pure drive 2025 or ezone 100 2022?

@eb_tennis_247 - Curious to know how many on-court hours you've had with it so far. (ie. well enough past the honeymoon phase, hopefully?)

Also, I see you've come from a Rad MP circa 2023-ish, then Speed Pro from then until recently, obviously up-leveling forgiveness and free power as you go. Would you say that's been intentional, more so happenstance, or a mix of both?

Appreciate any extra info you can give to paint the overall picture here.

Preface: I am a total racquetholic and tennis maniac.

Short history: I started playing very intensively about five years ago.
Started with Prince Textreme 100 310 which I liked a lot, but developed a tennis elbow.
Erroneously thinking it is a frame, I switched to Clash Pro, and then to Clash 98 (review here, I liked it), playing with Triax.
Then, for sheer fun, I demoed Radical MP and I was stunned how much crisper and precise it was compared to Clash 98. I played with Radical MP but I happened to demo Speed Pro (blame @TW Staff for their glorious review and 89 score), and I really liked how it felt with mass, softness and control. It was MUCH better for my serve than Radical. Radical felt somewhat sluggish and weak on my serve which is my best shot by far.

I still love Speed Pro, but I found it slow and underpowered for doubles and when I am in second set, playing tired and don’t react and swing well enough. (I am 52 now. Fit but not that fit).

So, by reading reviews, I started experimenting with EZONEs - 98 and 100. I played with 100 and 98. I loved 98 but it started giving me some wrist and golfer elbow pain when I was having long hitting sessions with heavy hitters. It is a fantastic frame but slightly demanding on my arm. Overall, 2022 EZONE 100 was great but at the time I had thought I need more Speed’s control and comfort. At the time I was training with D1 player who hits with Speed Pro and I was trying to emulate him as much as possible.
(It is, btw, a total myth that you need to be 5.5+ to play with Speed Pro)

So, I floated between Speed and EZONE line for a while, until I recently demoed the new EZONE 100 after watching the @ACT and TW review. I find, in general, that if you know how to carefully read and listen to TW reviews, that tell a very complete story about the frame. @ACT is on another level with his reviews. His 2025 EZONE 100 segment is spot on.

Not to forget, with non-Yonex racquets, I don’t even know what is the real spec baseline. Swingweight and overall balance in midsections vary wildly.

So, I first took the EZONE 100 demo to a ball machine and serving practice. I mean … pure butter. Everything. Mindlessly good.

Then, I purposefully took the demo frame to a round robin doubles matches with and against 3.5/4.0 players, so the pressure was on. Even though I did not like the strings in it (PTP 1.20, no spin), the experience overall was great so I ordered my own 2025 EZONE 100 with Hyper G hybrid which is a baseline string for me.
Last night, fresh from the box, I played with 3.5/4.0, young players. One super athletic and fast, another super consistent pusher. All to test it under pressure.

We won decisively. I had to evolve, in a real, match time, my best serves, returns, groundstrokes and poaching volleys with this new frame. Everything worked. My groundstrokes had good depth and controlled height. Good control. Serves started little shakey but by second set I was hitting hard flats, good ad side kicks to backhands, and good slices from the deuce side. I poached aggressively in the second set when we started losing advantage and it all worked. 2025 EZONE 100 just worked for me on everything. More I played with it, better it worked for me. I started writing the review for in my head while I was still on the court. I was that impressed.

Overall — why EZONE 100 works for me:

The serve is my best shot. I like to serve by “throwing” racket up and through the ball so chunky headed racquets like Speed and EZONE 100 work really well for me.

I like to have as even balance of control, power and spin on my shots. EZONE 100 gives all three at once.

I don’t like too high of a launch angle a la VCORE or Speed MP. I struggle with it. EZONE 100 launch angle is right between Speed Pro and MP and it feels controllable, perfect for me.

I need maneuverable frame. Both for my 1HBH and just in general. EZONE 100 is it.

As I am getting better and playing with heavier hitters, I need stable frame. Again, EZONE 100 wins there.

Yes, it feels dampened and muted but not to the point where I don’t have a feel for the ball, so I am OK with it. I am not a big finesse player. I like the controllable cannon.

@eb_tennis_247 - Appreciate the additional explanation. Curious: do you ever customize your frames with lead, etc. and/or have the tools (such as a Briffidi, etc) to allow you to actually know your full unstrung/strung spec (static/balance/sw)? Or do you just tend to play and judge your frames value mostly on how they play stock, and/or don't/aren't really able to measure, but rather just go by feel? – Note: there isn't any answer here that make you more or less qualified in my eyes, I'm just purely curious. Thanks again.

I do customize a little bit. Usually to make frame a little bit tail heavy if needed. I put Gamma HiTech replacement grip on or a little bit of tack in the buttcap.

With EZONE 98, I was adding a little bit of lead to the 10&2. 2.5-3 g total.

I added a little bit of tungsten putty to the cap to 2025 EZONE 100 to match my 2022 EZONE 100.

There is a super pro shop in my neighborhood with a Wilson weight, balance, swingweight and tension measure machine so that helps the tennis maniac.

Cool. Will be interested to hear how your game progresses as you get more time with the 25EZ100. Happy hitting!

@eb_tennis_247 , good to hear you are happy with your new Ezone 100 (2025).

I play with the 2022 version of the Ezone 100 since they came out. Very nice racquet.

Since you also play with a OHBH, have you felt any difference between the 2022 and the 2025 version ? They made the the tip of the head slightly thicker which one could assume makes it slightly more difficult to manoeuvre. However, I haven’t seen any comment about this in any reviews.

I just bought the new Pure Drive 2025 as well as I was just too curious. Great racquet also but after two weeks of trying it, I still slightly prefer my Ezone 100.

Like you, I have a problem with frames that launches the ball higher (Vcore etc). The Ezone 100 has an ideal string pattern for me. Feels so natural to hit.

Haven't hit the 2025, but the 2022 is amazing. This frame really does it all. I'm still just now getting used to the clunky feeling on serve, but it's gotten much better with time. Everyone could use this racquet and be happy, I really believe that. This is the closest to a racquetholic killer frame that I've ever tried.

I think despite it lacking that 18m pinpoint control, it's still good enough ESPECIALLY for a power 100. EZ100 really wants you to go for it, just rip. Confidence is what posters above have said this frame gives you, and I completely agree. Confidence to go after your targets and punish opponents with shots pushing through the court.

Small updates:

Played about 4 hours of match play and an hour of dedicated ball machine hitting and testing including side by side w. 2022 EZONE 100.

Overall, my first impressions still hold, with some more solidified ones:

  • EZONE 100 has a fairly low, controlled launch angle
  • It is surprisingly good and controlled. I think that “power racquet” is a total underrepresentation — I would really dare to call it a high-power control racquet.
  • It is very good on flat and slice shots — all kinds: serve, groundstroke, chip, drop, slice, slice smash.
  • Spin potential is modest. Very similar to Speed Pro or Radical MP. It is there but you have to put an effort and make it happen.
  • It is a servers dream

In terms of this one vs. 2022, the difference is very small. You can feel the difference when testing and paying attention, but if you string them the same, you will not have much of an adjustment or misfiring at all in the heat of a match.

Will keep testing including 2022 side-by-side and keep posting updates. This frame is really worth the detailed review.

Is it worth to upgrade?

I can give you my views on 100/98/98+/98 Tour.
I still have 98, love it and might get a 2025 98 too.

With that being said:

I think @ACT ’s review, Jonas tennis nerd and Team Tennis.fr (Jean Pierre) say things about 100 in their reviews that I completely agree with. Jonas and Jean Pierre converted to 2022, Jonas at least for a while. Jean Pierre is a high level, first rate player, with one of the best groundstrokes at YT, but not young any more.

100 vs. 98 offers more of everything, without taking anything away. I played with 2022 98 but it gave me some arm pain. I think because it is so light and whippy and on heavy shot exchanges it lacks stability. I could, though, see myself go back to it. I love it too, especially on 1HBH and aggressive FHs.

I see 98 as a better frame for young(er), athletic, 4.5+ player.

98 Tour is very sluggish for me. Had 2020 and sold it. I like Speed Pro much better for that 310/315g level frame.
You can also easily convert 98 to 98 Tour by adding 10g weight to hoop (accross), throat and some to tail, and then go back down if too sluggish.

Don’t know 98+ much. That SW concerns me so I never tried.

‘22 to ‘25 user here. I think the new’25 EZ100 is just a really good tweak over the ‘22. I play the same string/tension in both and the ‘25 is just a bit better at everything.
Is it worth it to upgrade? For me, and I hate to say it, the cosmetic was enough to warrant the upgrade. I’ve had more people ask me about the frame than at any time before. But I’m playing really well with it to boot.
The ‘25 has a tad more everything, imo, power, control, spin and maneuverability. Maybe it’s because I’m used to the frame but when I went from the Navarro VCore to the Paul VCore, I couldn’t say the same. Didn’t like the newer one as much.

Im currently playing with Blade Pro v9 18x20 around 350g static, 354sw and 32.9 balance. So with a normal EZ98 i ll have to put too much lead to bring it on the same spec level... meanwhile the simple one compared to 98+ and the 98 Tour is much more hollow in terms of frame composition. 98+ and 98 Tour will be much more stable, powerful etc

@Rabbit, since you have been using an EZ100 for a long time, I am curious what strings and tensions have you settled on? I am currently waiting on delivery of a 2025 Ezone 100.

Here are some cons of EZONE 100 after two weeks of playing, including the most recent match this evening:
(Note that naturally some, if not most, of these observations are purely subjective and based on my own stroke and play style)

- the ratio of low launch angle, high power and lower spin potential can be a little bit difficult to adjust coming from Speed MP 2022. You either hit the net or the ball can go long.

- lower plow and lower spin/launch angle is hurting my serve games. I am used to hitting deep, jumpy serves that clear the net and have a good pace from the Speed’s chunkiness. I’ve been losing my serves because I hit net more or my serves lack pace.

All these might be just a matter of adjustment to the new frame. I observed that if I toss ball more in front and hit the slice/flat serve, I am getting a good precision, especially on T serves. I can also produce a very difficult serve if I hit a flat slice (slat) with lots of racquet head speed.

Hey @Rabbit, good to hear your thoughts here. You're using Rexis Speed at 54 or lower, right? I gotta say, I'm kinda nervous to put a multi in my EZ100 just because I'm liking the control I'm getting despite how powerful it is. I've got Poly Tour Rev 1.25 at 53# in mine right now and am enjoying it overall. However, I may try a poly/multi hybrid. Would that make any sense in the EZ100?

For where I am right now: Mine has leather + og rn, going to start tailweighting even more soon with some tungsten putty under the buttcap, maybe 5g, and then add maybe 1g or 2g lead at 12. I feel absolutely no need to throw any at 3 and 9 despite my SW being 317. It feels plenty stable in that regard on twistweight. I am just looking for a bit more plow, and I may be good to go at that point. Mine feels plenty fast off the ground and I don't want to mess that up too much, especially that I am now feeling a bit more dialed in with it on serve.

I just wish I could go back 3 years in time, scream at my old self for thinking something like this wouldn't fit me...

I’m currently testing Poly Tour Rev/Poly Tour Pro hybrid @ 53/50 that i’m liking a lot.

@curtstead if you’re happy with poly and extra weight, stay with it. The Rexis I’m using has the best control of the multis I tried. And my arm doesn’t suffer for it.
The only thing I’ve done to mine is leather and that was to give a little more size to the grip. I had to buy 2’s. But they are working very nicely.
Reading your post and how you wished you could go back 3 years…. Listen to yourself and don’t tinker too much!

I have some tennis elbow when switch from rf97 to blade 98 w poly. Bought the 2025 ez 100 with nxt, and do not like it. The demo had Rexis and it was great. Question for u, or general thoughts, i bought touch vs gut to put in the ez 100. I have only ever done a hybrid with gut mains but am thinking full bed. Any general thoughts? Tension?

Why did you change to it from the Speed MP 2022?
Good question. Not really changed yet. Still in an evaluation phase.

No. 1 reason is quality control. It took me so many trial and errors to find 2-3 Head frames that are close to each other in SW, balance and weight. I used to get Head or Wilson that had 10-15 SW points difference between the same models.

With Yonex, it is not nearly as bad as with other brands. There is still SW variance but nothing like Chinese-made frames.

With all this said — I am still testing MP with EZONE side by side.

Do you think your initial positive experience of the Ezone 100 was perhaps a bit of honeymoon ?

Seems the lowish launch angle has also created some challenges for you? The Speed MP has a rather loopy trajectory I think, quite different to the Ezone.

The Pure Strike 100 is also pretty nice with a lower launch angle than the Speed MP in my opinion. Power wise , the Ezone 100 is though on a different level.

The Pure Drive does offer a slightly less flat trajectory than the Ezone 100. Perhaps that also could be racquet you would like ? I play with the Ezone 100 and just bought the 2025 version of the Pure Drive. Like them both but as more used to the Ezone, for now I prefer it over the Pure Drive.

I played with EZONE 100 before so I just need to re-adjust to a) launch angle and b) shot setup since it has a lower SW. I added 1.5g to 10 and 2, respectively so I will go with it. I like a little more mass in the head for my serve.

I like a lot this combination of power and controlled string bed.

EZONE 100 is a real “weapon” frame. One just needs to get adjusted to it.

In my last match, I was missing my first serves into the net and sort of powder puffing my second serves because I was used to MP’s heftier feel.

I adjusted my serve to use more racquet head speed (RHS) and I was able to aim better with EZONE because of tighter string bed and I was back to ace-ing more of my first serves. For the second serves, I also just needed more RHS.

Once I am adjusted to the different playing profile - squat on my shots to clear the net, swing more aggressively and in front — EZONE 100 turns into a true “lethal weapon”. Almost feels like cheating how fast the shots go.

@Dadof2wildmonkeys were it me, I’d go 52 gut and 48 poly with the gut in the mains. Please let us know how it works out.
I did 50/45 with vs and 4g soft, both 16. Feels way better on the arm and very fun to play with than nxt 17 at 50/50. Generally, i must accept i am a gut mains guy. I have a leather grip and 4 grams on the throat as i am trying to replicate the headlight balance of the rf97, which to me feels perfect in its weight/balance. I am not that great of a player to give a detailed review, and i need more time to gel, but i can say the ease of power of this frame just feels nice, less taxing, and when u go for a big shot the ball is fast/heavy. I think i like the overall idea of controlling a more powerful frame, rather than using power on a control frame. It would be ideal to buy a second frame to compare setups.

I demo'ed both the vcore 100 and ezone 100, and found the ezone to be more stable and with less vibration when slightly missing the sweetspot. It feels like the ezone is more forgiving and has a very slightly higher launch angle, but the strings were different between the two racquets so it's hard to know definitively.

Can anyone compare the ezone 100 to the 100+? Does the ball come off the 100+ in the same way?

I see. But what do you want that the Speed MP doesn't have? What are you looking for?

I really appreciate your question. It is a good one.

I am really an experienter, at the expense of my own game sometimes …

With that being said — Speed MP is a great frame for me. I am not a flat hitter and I use (moderate amount of) spin to control my shots. It works the best for me for serves and for hitting really heavy groundstrokes.

Where I find it lacking is a little bit of consistency on returns and precision.

I was looking for something in between Speed MP and Speed Pro.

In retrospect, I might just stick with Speed MP, but (customized) EZONE 100 is very good.

If you feel the Speed MP lacks a bit of consistency, perhaps you could demo the Percept 100 and the latest Pure Strike 100 ?
The Diadem Nova 100 also comes to mind.

They are pretty similar to the Speed MP but both have slightly tighter string pattern despite also being 16x19. Those 3 are pretty nice frames.

I prefer the Ezone 100 and Pure Drive but that’s because I like the added power and stability.

I have come to realise that there really isn’t one “best” racquet. It is all about trade offs in the end. You win in one aspect, and loose something else instead.

@curtstead, how exactly did you end up customizing your ez100? What impacts did you notice? I have not hit with my new EZ100 yet due to bad weather, but I know I will end up adding some weight at noon for some more plow amd some tail weight to counterbalance…

That's quite heavy as mine is about 333. I'm guessing you have added quite a fair amount of lead?
