I seen the pics too! Looks pretty similar to the blue dr98 but when you zoom in you can see its the current ezone 98 paint job except in blue. Looks pretty good

You have to use the arrows on the right and left side of the main pic, as the racket is seen in pic #4, 7 and 8.

Thanks kindly, smalahove!

The bigger question is, is it his old EZXi98 in new paint? Or has he actually moved to the '18 EZONE98, which seems to be the spiritual successor to the Xi98?

Yonex has very small buttcap flare - do double loop with the grip and double loop with over grip at the bttom to create a nice flare that will make the racket much easier to old securely with relaxed grip.

Thanks for the recommendation. I went ahead and double looped just the overgrip and seems like it has helped alot.

Having some issues with returning big serves where all I want to do is hit a solid block return with minimal backswing. Anybody else having problems with this? I'm thinking about throwing some lead tape on 3 and 9 o'clock.

Funny thing is that the TW reviews rated the 100 much better than the 98, but there is no customer feedback on it. Not a huge change over the DR100?

I personally can tell the differences from the Ai100, since I have one Ezone 100 in my bag right now:

- EZ100 more maneuverable than Ai100;
- EZ100 has a much better control;
- EZ100 has a little less power (I use SG or MF as strings);
- Ai100 is more comfortable than EZ100.

Anyone with more feedbacks for the Ezone 100?

Testing out the new Ezone 98 this week (weather permitting)

About me - 4.0-4.5 counter-puncher/baseliner that recently got back into tennis after some injuries forced me out the game during college. Played with the 6.1 95 (16x18) all throughout high school and college, but looking for something a little lighter.

Strung the Ezone 98 up with my normal Alu Rough @ 54 pounds and played some doubles today. First thing I noticed was that the racket was much stiffer than I expected. I had hit with the original AI and DR earlier this year but they were too flexy for my liking (seeing as I'm use to playing with a stiff frame like the 6.1 95.)

I was having a hard time with my depth from the baseline, but I was placing my serve well + I don't think I've ever played better at the net. Lots of control, but just wishing I had a bit more power and less of the harsh feeling. Got it restrung tonight with volkl cyclone to soften things up and dropped the tension down to 48. I'll report back with how it plays later this week.

Why wouldn't you keep the ALU Rough and drop the tension. Changing only one variable at a time. I think that would have achieved both things you were looking for when you switched to cyclone.

Anyone tried the Ezone 100 with the Wilson shock trap?

I just got my Ezone 100 today after having shoulder issues with a slightly heavier and HH racket. Strung it with RPM Blast @ 53 pound, I was a little disappointed with the feel until i put the shock trap on and it immediately felt like i hoped it would.

I like the DR 98 with the Yonex Vibration Stopper. A bit rattly without it.
However no dampener on my Phantom 100.

Reporting back-

Hit with the Ezone 98 twice for a total of 4 hours. Even though I changed from ALU rough to Volkl Cyclone and dropped the tension down to 48.. the racket still feels too stiff and underpowered for my liking. I had great control but too many balls landing short and I actually experienced a little pain in my arm. Should I continue to lower the tension or does anyone have a string recommendation?

Starting to feel like I should have bought an AI or DR instead.

You still can!

Haha guess you're right. Maybe I'll demo both the DR 98 and 100. I'm hearing that the 100 is actually pretty stable. Anyone play with it?
Yup. It's a sweet racquet. I had wrist issues when I used it (don't know if it's just an unfortunate series of events or the racquet itself). Pretty stable. Nice power that doesn't blast the ball into the back curtain.

Posting again after a couple of months with the 98. Switched strings from Yonex Poly Tour Pro to Poly Tour Fire 17 1.20 (17 gauge) and love it. String tension at 53/51.

Any other string suggestions? Type, tension?

Sounds like a QA issue... or a coincidence that we both had faulty grips.

What's your string set up? I'm still experimenting around to find one that works well. I relied on PolyTour Pro 120 at 50 lbs in the Ai and DR. But that doesn't work in the new EZONE. PolyTour Fire 120 is working nicely, though! Spin wasn't as good. Next I'm going to try a hybrid with some Yonex REXIS or Monopreme.
Hey there XFactorer, did you end trying Yonex Rexis in your ezone98? I’m curious about this string, only available by the reel on the ...seems like the hardest to get string ever advertised!

Ive had some poly tour fire i was give sitting around for a while. Thought id give it a run in one of my new Ezone 100s @ 51 and like yourself really liked it. Being a late starter i havent used too many strings but did read a review where some guy rated the fire on par with his favorite string, hyper G. Didnt TW say the Yonex strings tend to hold their tension longer as well?

Have you tried EZone 100 instead of your 98? You will get the additional power you need, and almost same control and more spin.

Try adding some lead tape @ 12. Improved the overall feel and removed stiff upper hoop feeling for me. I settled with 1.5 grams @ 12

I have and use both the DR98 and 100. Both are quite stable but prefer the 98 due to the much softer feel and thinner beam. The 100 is more powerful and has greater spin potential. But the bottom line for me is the softness and control of the 98 over the 100.

Haven't yet. Currently using Solinco Tour Bite Soft. I'll eventually get to it. And, yes, super hard to find in the US.

I ended up demoing a Dr 100 strung with poly tour pro @ 48. Played against a 4.5 bit hitter and played very well with it. I was hitting a little shorter than usual and my second serves were a little light but I made some adjustments and overall I really enjoyed the feel and how comfortable I was able to play with a racket this light.

So those of you who have tried the Ezone 100 and the DR 100, which do you like best? Wondering how long the dr 100 will be available if that’s the one I prefer.

I have not tried EZone 2018, but I bought one more DR as they are good and on sales.

I played 2 years with Ai100, sold them do get a DR100 but couldn't play with it, by some reason the copy I was testing was very difficult to swing and my OHBH was impossible to execute on time. I tried it for 3 months and couldn't get used to it, ended up moving to prince textremes 100P and Warrior for another 2 years.

Now I got a Ezone 100, much easier to play than DR 100, easier to swing and more stable. It swings a little slower than the Textreme Warrior, but the precision is much better.

Can anyone compare the DR 100, EZONE 100, and PD 2017?
I played with the EZONE DR 100 and only briefly demoed the EZONE 100 and PD 2017.

DR100 was plush even for its stiff RA. I was able to use it just fine - at the time I switched from the ai98 to the dr100. It gave more power and all that jazz as expected. The DR100 feels a little clunkier (if I remember correctly) than the EZONE 100 and the PD 2017. The EZONE 100 seemed to have elongated mains compared to the DR100, so it could be even more powerful feeling. The PD2017 does have an even stiffer feeling than the two EZONEs and swings about the same.

Has anyone found a winning combo of strings for the new EZONE 98? I'm struggling to find something right. In the ai/DR line, I used PolyTour Pro 120 at 50 lbs and it was my go to setup. That didn't work well in this current line - dare I say the racquet is a little harsh up top and Poly Tour Pro doesn't help soften it up. Fire was good at 45 and did soften up the stringbed. I might just still with that or try some Air in it.

Thoughts?
