Try a thinner poly like 1.15, feels great.

The marketing differentiates the lines. VCORE is all about control. EZONE is all about power. Frame geometry and materials used further differentiate the lines. I think the VCOREs and EZONEs have different feelings when you hit with them even if they have similar specs on paper.

Try the new Kirshbaum XPlosive Speed 18g in it! My first impressions are positive. I strung my EZONE 98 up with it yesterday and I do feel like I'm getting more spin and I didn't get any of that upper hoop harshness.

Well now Yonex has an even bigger marketing problem on their hands. I would say the VCORE Pro line is all about control, not the regular VCORE line. The current VCOREs descend from the SV line, which was Yonex's stiffest and most powerful line.

Wilson killed the Burn line because nobody could tell you what the fundamental difference was between a Burn and an Ultra, even if some specs and geometry were a little different. Yonex either needs to separate the VCORE and EZONE more, or kill one of them.

Actually, I take it back. Even I am confused a little bit on what the EZONE and the two VCORE lines are promising.

The VCORE Pro is control ("crush with control").
The VCORE is spin ("the new shape of spin").
The EZONE is comfort ("unleash the power of sweet").

Maybe their racquet matrix might help us differentiate...

I'll simplify it for you, if I may...

What Yonex is trying to tell you is basically that you need to buy all of them and have them in your bag... You start off with the VCORE Pro because you want to crush your opponent with control... then when that opponent thinks they have you figured out and is starting to adapt... you switch to the VCORE and start killing them with the new shape of your spin.

Suddenly, you are Rafa instead of Djokovic... they are confused, fumbling, shanking... a quivering mess of 2008-2016 Federerness-ness... you press your advantage... but eventually they adapt and start to claw back the gap... they become 2017-2019 Federer... you then hit them with the final piece-de-resistance... You unleash the EZONE power of sweet, and crush them with your Del Potro power... they have no answer... You win the match... the crowd goes wild and you realize that thanks to Yonex... you have done it...

You are the G.O.A.T... Then you wake up... look down at the weapon in your hands... and realize that the whole time you were actually playing with the DR98... ;):laughing::-D

Went to the Western and Southern earlier this week and talked to one of the workers in the racquet/merchandise tents about the forthcoming update. He told me he was in the meeting with the Yonex reps so take this with a grain of salt. Long story short, the plan is to move it back towards the likes of the DR compared to the current Ezone. He said however no one was allowed to hold the racquet when the reps were in the shop during the meeting, the rep held it the entire time.

Hell, just use the DR mold, spray on a new paintjob, add some new "tech" to it, and Yonex can see their tennis racquet sales skyrocket for the next year.

Interesting. I think it would be a good move by Yonex. For whatever reason they tend to mix shake things up more with their racquet lines compared to the other big dealers. If you think about it though, the DR line was so well received that it didn't really make sense to change things up as much as they did. Although I can't exactly comment because I haven't played with the EZone 98, but I did play the DR98 for about two years.

Welp, looks like I have to wait until this release as well... :rolleyes:
Vcore HD, 97 310, Vcore 95, or this one. Gonna take a while to demo them all.

I actually ordered 2 DR98's last year from germany and they were sent to the wrong state, and since I was moving it became this whole frustrating process. Never did get to try the famed DR. The frame is annoyingly hard to find.

that's not the new ezone, some misinformation was given by someone earlier, that's the current 102in Ace model as was pointed out above.

I have seen the photos. 99 % inspired by megaman/rock man. They look great with shades of dark and light blue.

Know any specs? Just curious if yonex continues to encourage lead use by giving us low swingweights.

I played older vcore model and ezone dr too. These lines are so very different. No need to be confused.

I got to play with the:
green ezone 98, fast, light feeling
blue dr ezone 98, more solid, stable feel
both easy on spin,
both of these sticks where matched for swingweight and grip size
but one of these started to hurt my fore arm=TE,,
anyone have any similar issue?? was the green.ezone too light??

I’m still playing with my 3 Ai98’s but always keep my ears open for another well-received Ezone to try out. So far I haven’t found a replacement for the Ai98. I currently have a Prince Textreme Tour 310 that I’m giving a real chance to entice me, but I think I miss the 8 mains in the throat that I’m so used to on the Yonex.
