Yonex Ezone 98 (305) vs Vcore Pro 97 (310)

Been demoing both and like them both very much, Vcore very comfortable with any string (important to me), Ezone comfortable enough with Multifiliament, not as much with polyester. Ezone maybe?? a bit more power, Vcore a bit more control. Ezone a bit more fun, better cosmetics to me in either color, but maybe not as predictable as Vcore. I could play with either one. I'm 4.0 in my 60's. Old school for the most part, but working on adding more spin and kick serve. Currently using DR 98+, very comfortable, SW just a bit too high for me although trimming the head guard helped a bit. Sometimes feel that maybe the SW and length make it tough to control, so that is why I am considering Ezone 98 and Vcore Pro 97. Would appreciate anyone's thoughts. Thanks!

The V Core Pro 97 has been my racket of choice since it came out, and the Duel G 97 before that (310g). It's a great frame, esp for all-court play.

I've recently migrated back to the Pure Strike family and the Ezone 98. I didn't really like the Ezone 98 at first, as it didn't give me any noticeable advantages compared to the VCP97, and has a lot less feel, esp. at net. But now, well into the clay season, I can really appreciate the Ezone 98: to me, it has a bigger spin window, and is more forgiving for that type of play (heavy topspin).

However, the Pure Strike 16x19 and 100 give me a bit more pop, so I'm currently playing those. And strangely enough, I'm gravitating towards the 100 - which I never would have thought before trying it. That being said, compared to the VCP it feels really blunt at net. It gets the job done, but it doesn't have any of the great touch and feeling the VCP has.

If my backhand, and return game, was better against big hitters, I would have stuck with the Duel G 97 (or VCP97).

What string and tension do you use for project one ?

Funny, the Babolat Pure Strike, probably 16x19, is the only non Yonex I was considering. Have always loved many of the Babolats but they usually weren't comfortable enough for my tastes. I hear the Pure Strike is pretty comfy. Any thoughts, especially compared to the Yonex sticks for which I am looking for comparisons. Thanks!

Played the Duel G for a long time, after that picked up the VCore Pro 310, now i'm testing the ezone 98 with some weight in the handle for some time. The VCore Pro 310 really has some great attributes, but the Ezone 98 just hits a heavier ball, it is slightly more stable and just has better plow through. The Vcore pro just hits weaker balls which is noticeble on clay, it requires more effort to pressure your opponent and it is much harder to defuse heavy (topspin) balls.

I am probably going to switch.

I actually play with the EZONE 98 and demoed the new VCP97. Power levels were similar but I had to work more with the VCP97 to get what I needed. It was less forgiving and at times I had an inconsistent response. I loved that the VCP97 was more svelte in the hands - it had more feel, too.

I didn't really get the Ezone 98, compared to the VCP97, before I tested it out on clay. The Ezone just lets you hit a much bigger ball with way more spin, but the VCP97 beats the Ezone 98 and PS 16x19/100 on touch by a landslide, esp. at the net.

I'm demoing the Yonex and I'm impressed with the 310. If I go taht way, I figure I have room for customization (a plus) versus buying the 330 and hoping it's all in tune. Talking VCP97310 here.

A couple of months ago I swung the Babolat and found it stiff feeling. > > > > are there any signs of the famous Babolat "Hurts My Arm" syndrome there? . . . how's it do for comfort?

I should try it again, since I'm looking for a sick-serving racquet.

I switch back and forth between my VCP 310 and the DR98+. On days I feel good I get better serving from the DR. Also hitting groudies take less effort from the DR.
The VCP I feel I can control things better so I hit better angles and have better net game with the VCP. Serves are still ok but I get more action and pop with the DR. I do have to give it more umph to hit a heavier ball than the DR.

I'm a 4.0 in my mid 50's, and the only two frames that I actually own are the DR98+ and DR98. Like you, I have also demo'd the Ezone 98 (305) and VCore Pro 97 (310) on numerous occasions. Which one do I think is a better? They are both very good IMO. However, I would give a slight edge to the Ezone because of the serving. Ground strokes are similar. The V Core might have slightly better feel at net, but that is not a show stopper (for me).

what is the difference bw dr98 vs vc pro? I am a dr98+ user and considering vc pro or vc98+ to switch

The Ezone DR98 and V Core Pro (310) are very similar frames on paper. I believe the main difference is the RA. Touch and feel is better with the DR (in my opinion).
