Yonex Ezone 98 replacement

I have a Yonex Ezone 98 2022, but I'm looking for a replacement due to a sore wrist. I tried various customizations with different strings, including multifilament strings at lower tension, but my wrist still hurts. I tested other rackets and experienced no wrist pain. I love the plushness, ball pocketing, and precision of the Ezone 98. Do you have any suggestions for a similar racket? I was considering the Head Extreme Tour 2022.

Just completed a demo of the Extreme Tour 2022. Fine racquet. Quite a departure from my v7 18x20 Blades. I cannot play with racquets that are stiff or have a high vibration frequency so I tried the Extreme Tour 2022. Really good racquet but probably requires customization. Great when I’m on the gas tho.

Might be difficult to match the plushness/ball pocketing/precision you like without going to something lower-powered like a Blade or TF40. Or a bigger head size like a Gravity. The Extreme Tour is definitely less powerful and forgiving than an EZone 98 in stock form.

Prince ATS 98 : great power and comfort yet not muted and decent spin, has been treating my wrist and shoulder well. I pair it with the Tourna Silver 7 Tour 1.25 tension 46-44 lbs. This is by far the most comfortable set up for me even though the Silver 7 Tour is not a soft string

I have also been looking at the Head Gravity MP as it has lower RA and some players really like it. Haven't tried it yet but curious about the precision of that racket.
As I have OHBH I like the fact that the Gravity MP has 22mm beam.

I did have a look at this racket as it has the highest rating on TW reviews. However, I cannot demo it in AUS. If I just buy another racket without trying, I may hear some complaints from my wife...:)

i had same problem than you with my ezone, you could try a blade 98S or 98. Eventually a boom pro

The Ezone 98 22 has a low SW and not much stability. That causes vibrations in your wrist and arm.
Keep the stick and put some lead at 10 and 2 oclock.
I felt the same when I played it stock.

I know both racquets and I play with ET 2022. It will be easy to switch and Head is easier on the arm. ET has a little less power and a bit more spin potential. But you can probably fix that with a string setup.

Thanks, Honzo for the tip. I did try to add lead but it didn't help.

Will certainly demo the Extreme tour as it is the same size and I dont mind the extra spin. Is it similar to VCore 98? I might give it a try too.

Hi @Petr and forum, I have 4 EZones 98, and somehow one is so underspec (feels super light) that playing with it gives me arm pain, I noticed one day that I started using it with fresh strings, it was giving me more vibrations and pain than my other EZoness that had same strings and tension on it. I noticed the discomfort and immediately switched back to one of the "good" racquets and pain went away.

Then I wanted to test my underspec racquet pain theory and I started to rotate with one rest day before using each racquet and the day I used the underspec MF, it was giving me signs of pain right away, whenever I started to feel it I switched to any of my other racquets and discomfort disappeared.

So, I would recommend changing to another EZone, but measure it before buying, make sure is with the correct spec and adequate swingweight (above 280 unstrung). Specifically for this racquet (and maybe others tooo), the more swingweight (to a level you can handle) the more comfortable it feels.

Question in general, has anyone experienced this phenomenon? Underspec racquet causing issues?

Also the underspec racquet loses tension faster than the others. Does that make sense?
