Hi friends
I need quick help.
I ll defenetly buy a yonex ezone 98?
But which one ?
- dr 98 new
- ai 98 used
- xi 98 new

Whats the difference for you?

I played the ezone ai 98 - and I loved it. So I want one ! But at the moment the DR98 is quick available. Does it matter, is it different to the ezone ai 98 I played once last year?

History:
In 2015 I played the yonex vcore tour g 330gramms (now to clubersome)
In 2016 I buyed a yonex ezone dr 100 300gramms (stupid me - to light to much power no)
In 2017 I want a yonex 98 310gramm!!!

I now that the I like the ezone ai 98 a extremely - so I am a bit afraid that I ll be confused if the ezone DR 98 is different wehen I buy one. Then look for a AI 98 again would be extremly stupid. So please help me quick. I need one this saturday.

Whats different in dr98 then ai98? is it a lot?

Xi98 is by far the best of all 3

I have tried all 3 and the AI nor the Dr come even close which is a shame
Have not tried Ezone XI98 but tried AI and DR.
AI became very popular because it was different from XI.
If XI was the best of those three, AI could not be one of the most popular rackets among Yonex rackets. AI saved Yonex brand in my opinion. Difference between AI and DR is feel. DR is slightly more crispy. Other than that it's just same frame.
Some people like XI but when majority of people who switched from XI, they said AI is better than XI. That's what I remember from early reviews.
XI still gets some attentions because of Nick.

If you want 98 and 310g, vcore duel or old vcore tour g, even Yonex Regna
be other options.

Had both the dr and the ai. It's stated above that these are the same frames but they are not. The shape of the head is a bit different. I agree in terms of feel, the dr feels crisper than the ai. Me, I tried the ai, bought the dr en eventually switched back to the ai because I didn't like that crisper feel but for some on these boards it's just what they're looking for! Good luck!

The Ai98 and DR98 are dimensionally identical. The Ai is softer frame and has a more flexible throat. The DR will be crisper feeling with more power.

Wow!
Awesome replies.
Thx folks !

Interesting.
- Of course I know that I influence the quality of my stick with my own mindset ;-) - thats part of the fun about that gear stuff. I m woldclass in thinking my stick bad or perfect. But I don t want to spend some more money, time and nervs in testing and trying. I just want to sattle with a stick in which I put my trust in - be calm, adjust to that thing and dont think about a new raquet for a while.
;-) Here your answers ll have a big impact. Because I need the stick as soon as possible.

My summary about your ansers is:
1. xi ai and dr 98 are different.
2. xi is completle different to ai and dr
3. ai was and is a huge succsess - very liked from a lot of peaople (me too as I said I played it and liked it!!!)
4. dr has a more crispy feel than the ai (I m not sure if i know what crisp means, more modern? more selfplaying?) - I m not sure if I like it or not!
5. xi is also liked by a lot of people (why exactly?)

my decicion status at moment:

- dr is available in shops -> maybe I risk it and buy that and have my silence (or not because it isnt what I wanted (AI?)) money loss, mental problem
--> new is always better. I have what I need

- ai isn t available in shops here, I need to seach it in internet and so on (but I have my silence because I have a lot of trust)
--> legal cheating, I know it is good

- xi is also available on a internet shop ;-) , why not? I see myself liking that one, It has class, looks nice, a bit unique and so on (but will I have trust in it, will I miss something? movement to the air for example? lack of spin? too old fashion?)
--> Nick plays it, a lot of style. no risk no fun, I see myself doing that ;-)

That said, I m completly in nomans land still all three are possible...
I ve money in my pocket (card) and I am a dangerous man on the market ;-)

So...
What are people like about the Xi 98 ? How is it different?
Are there people that like DR 98 much more than AI? is more crisp nice?

@fundrazer: yes... the shark from messina ;-) vincenzo nibali I like that rider ;-)

I demoed ai98 at one point, but purchased dr98 when it came out. It's a little bit stiffer, but otherwise very similar. If you like ai98 then you most likely will like dr98.

I'm falling in love with the XI98 > AI98! It's not uncomfortable but it feels like the stiffest in the bunch. Feels solid, has great pop & plow!

I do have two AI98s though and still enjoy them but they feel lower powered, muted, tad more flexible & less stable. Needed more customization as opposed to my XI98 which I can play stock.

sounds interesting.
xi could be kind of cool.
people liek the manuvarbility of ai - me too when I was playing it.
can xi do the same? qukck to the air and so on?

I'd say both are maneuverable and quick for sure. When I make contact, my XI plows through and remains stable while my AI flutters a bit.

OK.
Again thx for your inputs.
I think I nail it and go to yonex shop - and take the new DR98.
Only need to decide blue or normal colour.
And strings ;-) ?
Usually I go with luxilon alu power silver.
Somebody has a perfect match for dr98 close to alu power or something to hybrid with alu for a little more spin?

Get the new blue color. Most will agree that it looks better and you'll have an easier time selling or trading it when it's time for a new racket.

If anyone has an Xi98 or DR98, I'd trade one of my Ai98's for it.

I am not interested in a trade due to my current racquet downsizing efforts, but I have two EZONE 98 Xi's in perfect condition that I'd be happy to sell at more than fair prices if you are interested.

I will.

How does raquet trading works?
I ve a 1xDR100, 2x vcore tour g 330, and a older legendary yonex rdx300 which I would give away cheap. But doesn t know how to get them away.
