Yonex Ezone DR 100 vs New 2025 Ezone 100?

I have heard that the older DR racquets are some of the best Yonex has ever made. Am contemplating looking for a DR 100, but am curious if anyone can tell me how far off the new 2025 Ezone 100 is from the older DR? Have messed around with the 2022 Ezone 100 and the 2025 Ezone 98, but not the new 100 and I have never played with a DR. Any insight would be appreciated!

I had 5 DR 98's, 3 blues and two white/yellows. I played with the 2022 version of the Ezone 98 and 100. What I can tell you is that the DR's don't feel muted. I don't know if it is the dampening material or the stiffness ratings on the newer ones, but they do feel different. Haven't hit with the 2025 versions and I switched to the Blade 98 V9 last year for more control.

Good to know, thank you. I was not a fan of the muted feel of the 2022. I have gone backwards generation wise in a lot of different racquet lines because of how muted most of the new offerings are. Sounds like the DR 100 will be what I am looking for. Just wish I could demo one instead of pulling the trigger on one right away.

The DRs out there.... are so beat up by now. Not sure why you wouldn't just go for a new racquet.
There are so many amazing new(er) frames out right now!

The 98DR and 100DR were very different.
The 100 was firm and direct and not nearly as stable.

Played with A DR100 today and have tried both the 2022/2025 Ezone 100 variants.

I prefer the DR primarily due to single skip mains. The 16/19 is tighter on the DR, which I liked, don’t have to constantly hit topspin to control the ball.

My 2 hander is flatter/Agassi style and the DR is a better fit. It’s also surprisingly comfortable, pockets well and hits a nasty slice. Serving is huge, on all 3 serves. Spin is fantastic as a side note hence my opinion that the wider spacing on the 22/25 is not necessary and I actually think it hurts you when you cannot set up cleanly.

Just a great all court frame.

Any other comparisons you could make between the DR and 2025? My DR is getting a little old so thinking about updating. Main things I was curious about are stability and control/power level.

2025 is good frame, demo it and get a feel.
It’s just more muted and thicker/blockier at the top. Worth a try.

Comparing to Ezone 2025, DR 100 feels crispier at contact with higher RA and has better directional control imo. However the 2025 is more stable and more comfortable. Both are great rackets and you won’t go wrong with either. TW still sell grommets for DR 100, so if you like a crispy feel and don’t mind some cosmetic scratches, the DR 100 can be a good deal.
