Yonex Ezone DR CLUB!!!!~~~!!!

I've for two Yonex EZone DR 98s, one is like and the other is blue. I remember back when they released it NEEDING the blue version too. Clearly I fell to their marketing strategy but luckily now I have two DRs and they play so well and have such a great reputation that I'm not even interested in 'upgrading' to any of the new EZones.

1. Does anyone have any stringing suggestions for these two stings:

Yonex PolyTour Pro 125 - yellow
Yonex PolyTour Spin 120

I'm going to put the yellow PTP string in the lime DR and the PTS in the blue DR.
I'm predominantly a baseliner, but I play doubles too. I put in ample amount of spin on my shots nowadays, but I used to play very flat so depending on what's coming at me, I can also flatten things out and like to play with slice too, just to give the opponent a variety of balls to deal with.
I currently have them strung with PTP yellow at 50lbs but I've been reading users stating to string the mains and crosses slightly different to get best results.

2. I've been reading users like to add lead to their DRs especially at 3 and 9 or at 12. What would people recommend for my game style? I feel I could probably cope with some extra weight as currently I just have them stock weight with an overgrip.

Cheers :)

Right now for my setup I am using Solinco Revolution at 53 lbs and Poly tour Fire at 51 lbs. Gives me a bit more pocketing. As for lead I have 4 grams at 3 and 9 each with a leather grip and OG.

I have no mods to my cracked dr98. Overgrip, ptp 1.20 at 51lbs on constant pull.
i have yet to find something I like to replace it . checking out the pure strike VS. thread to see what’s up that one

My go to is 52/51 in my 98 DR

Trying the 100 DR tomorrow for the first time ever! 52/52

Have you ever hit the V8 blade 16x19”
If not, give it a shot

Hello guys,

Is it possible that I have 3 dr 98s and they are all have different weights? 336-340-343 gramms. They all have the same strings and dampeners

yo if anyone wants my lime 98 i don't really jive with it. brand new leather grip thought it would sort it out but still prefer VC95

I think i'm switching top the DR 100 or Ezone 100 so i might have 2 DR 98 for sale coming up very soon in 4 1/4 grip size.

My thoughts:

The new one is more crisp, less dwell time, little more power, but just a smidge. Feel isn’t quite as good. Not as good at net. But a little better on serve (quicker through the air). Handle is larger on the new ones.

It’s still worth a hit for sure. If the spec is in your wheelhouse.

For who would you recommend this racquets (310g)? I mean in playstyle, how do I know if DR fits my game?

I'm alternating between DR 98 and VCore Pro HD against the same opponent. My opponent said the difference was significant. He was often pushed out of the sidelines by my hits from DR. Balls had good pace, landed close to the baseline and bounced high. Directional accuracy was so-so. I hit out of sidelines a lot. I often found that the ball landed very far from where I wanted. Volleys could easily become mishit and the ball just dropped on my side of the court.

With VCPHD he wasn't pushed out of the sidelines. Balls landed before the service line. He stepped in and crushed me. Placement was excellent. Balls landed exactly where I wanted, in terms of left-right direction, not depth as it was clearly too short. Volleys were solid.

I'm also alternating between my DR and VCP 310 (gray/blue) and have some similar experience like yours for the DR. VCP 310 just a tad more accurate and raw feeling, great volleys and serves. The DR's are more comfortable and always a nice hit. VCP 310 has a fullbed of Lux Smart 17 at 52, the other had VS/Alu power at 53. DR (4 of them) has PTP/850 at 54.
Recently been really contemplating on getting the VCP HD. Do you have a different string set up between the DR and HD? Thanks in advance!

Pro's Pro Red Devil 1.19mm at m48/c46 on both. I think a looser setup say 44/44 or 44/42 should give deeper balls from HD.

With the new 2022 Ezone 98 out, is someone able to give their thoughts on how it compares to the DR98?

So I have been using the DR98 for 3 years and switched to the new EZONE 98...has not been a great transition but I will stick through it. Basically I am almost 50 and the DR98 is getting a little too demanding for me to hit well consistently so I wanted a frame that was easier to use. The new EZONE 98 fits that bill.

However in stock form the new EZONE 98 it is just way too light and unstable. My timing was messed up switching....I couldn't keep the ball in and the frame felt tingy. The DR98 has this nice flex & feel that hasn't been replicated with the newer EZONEs so if you really like that frame I wouldn't switch. To make the new EZONE 98 tolerable I have lead tape on 3/9/under handle and I switched from the Babolat Skinfeel grip to a Gamma grip with more cushion to take some of the harshness out of the EZONE. I probably will keep fiddling a little with lead and string setup. It's not a horrible frame by any means but I still can't quite get it right vs what I had with the dr98 which I used in stock form.

Why not switching to the DR 100? I'm transitioning to it and i like it so far.

you will need to measure the specs of your drs to get accurate results

Hi everyone ! I have 2x Dr 98 lime yellow and I'm wondering if it's worth trying out the the blue version. I've been following this thread (60 pages, wow) and I don't know what to think. Some people say the yellow has more pop and the blue is more plush feeling, then again people say it's virtually identical. I'm wondering if I should trade the yellows for the blues, should I do it ?

They’re the same. But Why not have one of both and draw your own conclusion!

Well, I just strung up my old DR 100s. Customized to 11.80oz, 7HL, 322SW, I used the, for a couple of years before switching to Blades/Pro Staffs/Clash due to a relationship with Wilson. Back to the DRs, strung one with 1.20 Poly Tour Pro and one with leftover Element. Wow! What a wonderful time. So much fun that I’m now demoing a new EZONE Tour. That stick throws down bombs.

i only have blues, but if you like the two you have, trading what is a increasingly hard to find stick in good condition for ones that could be in worse condition to investigate a potentially nonexistent difference sounds like an iffy proposition.

if you just want to investigate for fun, maybe buy a blue one? can always sell.

Does anyone know where I can find a butt cap for a DR 98?
You could try cutting a piece of bicycle tire tube (like a rubber ring), and fitting it overtop the Yonex butt cap. You could also cut a longer piece to double-up the thickness. Bicycle tire tube is not too heavy, and it added a nice flare to my DR 98 butt cap.

Wilson non-Pro Staff buttcaps work just fine, you can even remove the red Wilson trap door and put the Yonex green one. You will only have the red outline. I did it to my DR 98s and I like the Wilson buttcap's shape much better - the Yonex DR 98 (sensor compatible ones) were just more bulky

I bought two used DR 98's. With strings and OG they're at 31,5cm balance. Is that not kinda low? I am more used to around 32,5.

depends on weight of strings, but with overgrip i think the balance should be under 32.

DR98 is almost impossible to find for a reasonable second hand price anymore, if you are patient a few may turn up on second hand markets but I have seen them sell for around $150 in battered condition recently.

Last last year I sold 7 of them, all in good shape, to a pro coach friend of mine for $250 total. It's still possible to step in a good deal, but it's not getting any easier that's for sure.

I just noticed that my DR98's were longer than my Gravity pro so I measured them and they were:
DR98 1 strunged: 68,9cm
DR98 2 unstrung: 69cm

I believe standard length is 68,6cm
Anyone know whats going on here?

If anyone´s looking for spare grommet set for DR98 - let me know, I recently got them from the local Yonex rep and willing to share :)

I am still trying to get my hands on one of these. The yellow 98s have been calling but it's rough out there! No one I know locally even has one I can demo ):

I'm currently playing with an Ezone 98 2022 right now. How differently do these two sticks play?
