Yonex Ezone DR CLUB!!!!~~~!!!

Still keep coming back to my DRs
tried the Percept 100d and the new Ezone 305 ... nothing have this blend of feel and control.

wondering what did other DR users go for as replacement?
If I had my DR98s to go back to Id be using them now. I dont like the newer ezones. Currently using a prince tt98. I might be ready to start looking for “the stick” again.

This is from the first time hitting with the DR98. Felt too flexible/underpowered. Could be the already played Alu Power it had on it. I've played it 2 more time with another string, that I didn't like at all. Today, I strang it al low (put 23kg on the drop weight, aiming for 21kg till I hit) with Isospeed Black Fire S 1.25. Want to see how a 6-sided string will unlock even more spin potential. Very tight string pattern, but on the forehand side this frame wants to be hit with top-spin. On the backhand side, the flat strokes work just fine.

I've been trying to wrap my head around the DR98. I admittedly have never swung a Yonex racket before my most recent Ezone 98 demo (and I'm a proud new owner of one), but I've read so much praise for the DR98 and I wanted to understand it better. On paper, I see a slight difference in static weight, swing weight, and +2 points in stiffness. The spec sheet tells me it's more of a player's racket, maybe between the Ezone 98 and Ezone 98 Tour. And that translates roughly to more control, feel, and plow in the DR98, while sacrificing some power, forgiveness, and maneuverability. If I have that roughly correct, does the DR98 just play better than its spec? Ironically, I am moving away from a racket that plays more like the DR98 sounds in order to get the properties of the regular Ezone 98.

i think the current 305g one is much better, but most folks here would probably disagree. i think the current one isn't as muted, is balanced better, and is a tad more comfortable. i've had 3 new ones as recently as a couple years ago, and they just didn't do it for me. that said, i still see some in challenger/future events

DR98+ are still my go to sticks. Had to buy more when I had the chance (at a logical price) but I was being stupid.

I have a couple in excellent condition, one of the is extended but I never got to find the pair to really make the switch. The first one I bought for like $100 new.

I'll most probably play one more time with the DR98 and then return it back to my friend. Played again yesterday. Isospeed Black Fire S 1.25 plays much better than Alu Power and LTec White Pearl, not even close in my mind.

Super stable on the 2-handed backhand, I dare say as stable as the Prince Synergy 98.
On the forehand side, it does require very early takeback, both hands on the racket for longer and really hit through to get depth. Anything later than optimal, the ball will find the net or the ball will be short.

Having said that, I've found it very easy to hit winners cross-court and down the line from the mid-court. I only missed a couple of those yesterday and made more than 8 winners from inside the baseline.

Very tight string pattern which I really like as I can hit the early flat ball with very consistent results in depth, I mean on medium-to-high pace groundstrokes I could land the ball almost exactly where I intended everytime.

The major drawback of the DR98 is that after everytime I play with it I have some back-shoulder soreness. I may try the AI98 sometime soon. I think the DR98 with 4-5 higher stiffness could play even better.

Played a couple more times with the DR98. Along with the Pure Strike VS, it's the second racket that is causing me elbow and back-shoulder soreness during and after every hit. So, I'm returning it to my friend next week. Just didn't gel with it.

As I stated I switched to the DR98 last year and got 2 yellow and one blue one.

I wanted to update my string preferences:

So I recently loved Grapplesnake Tour Sniper 1.25 in it.

But then put on Tour Bite 1.25 and I cant put it down anymore. TB seems to be a match made in heaven in the relatively soft DR98! My #1 string now.

I recently got a blue one and it’s indeed slightly longer than 27 inches. It’s an awesome racquet with addictive flexible yet solid feel. Much more plow through compared to current Ezones. Very powerful for me with PTP 1.25. Have to say, the hype is real!

How does the EZone 100 300g 2022 play compared to the DR98, especially in ball feel?
I play with DR98 and various versions of Ezone 100 after a long time changing rackets. In my 3.5-4.0 level and OHBH+all court playstyle, imo Ezone 100 offers much better advantages. Easier depth and volley with not far discrepancy in control. The DR feels mushy so I strung it with stiffer poly such as Razor Code white, Confidential, or Lynx Tour. Ezone 100 is more predictable using VS Touch/RPM Blast 54/50.

In my opinion, there is no way the DR feeling mushy. I played specifically with Ai, Dr, and current Ezone model. The current one has the least feeling and wayyyyyy more mushier than Ai and Dr.
I've still really enjoyed playing with the Ai LG (285) that leaded up to 325+ after trying all those models. My alternative is the Regna 100 2014.
