Yonex percept 97

Anyone playing or playtested the yonex percept 97? I’m looking for some customer reviews…

I’m currently using a pro staff 97L and doubting to switch rackets in trying to get my game to next level. Tried multiple rackets already but nothing gets close to the feeling of my current pro staff 97L (290grams)

I have two and have been playing with them along side the 97H for several months. Never played with Pro Staff. So can't really compare. What are you looking for that's missing from your current frame?

I have been playing the PS 97L for a few weeks now. The feel is addictive. My take is to stick with it and customise it if you feel you want more out of it. I have not played the Percept line and so cant compare. I play my PS97L with lead on the handle and 6 inches on each side of the hoop. Just put on a leather grip and will try it out on Tuesday. It truly is a great feeling racquet that surprised me.

Well its the older version from a pro staff and since my level is increasing i will also face stronger player who typically hit harder then myself… for those circumstances i’m looking for a racket with some more weight then 290 grams. My biggest mistake is typically on forehands where my body positioning to the ball is too short (altough this has nothing todo with the racket)

welcome to the forum

You can enjoy 57 pages of talk on the percept line.
instant gratification.

your Pro staff 97L has a stiffness of 67ra? Percepts and other control frames are generally around 60ra. You can add weight to your frame and string them super tight to counter the pace. If this approach doesn't work for you then time to demo softer frames (that are usually not the light versions).

I haven't hit any percepts, but I have some vcore HDs that are player frames (shelton probably plays with 59ra ezones but he played the HDs while in UF) and a vcore 97D that is a few points stiffer at 61ra. These are great control frames. Generally you bring the swing speed, and you get rewarded. I assume the percepts feel and perform similarly to the 97D.

Yonex makes the best frames quality-wise...

why don’t you try the PS 97 V14? the added weight (315g unstrung) and stability will help against heavier hitters. if that is too heavy, i would recommend maybe a 98 blade (305g unstrung). I have two V7 blades but just got a PS 97 V14 and that is now my main racquet. I play mostly doubles and wanted something better for volleys.

any racket in the Precept range is great..
As long as you can afford them...I say go for it..

Dude. At this point I have to assume you’re doing it on purpose?

I see. I use the latest version. But even with yours - add 4 x 5 inch lead strips on each alternate bevel on the handle. Then put on an OEHMS leather grip. Add 6 inches of lead on each side of the hoop. You will have essentially now created an under-spec'd PS97.

What is the total weight?
Are you still playing it?
