We're back with our BEYOND THE PLAYTEST episode with our playtest team and today we are talking all about the Yonex Percepts!

We talk all about what this new minty green new family of racquets from Yonex and go deeper into the specs. We discuss how they differ from other Yonex families, like the EZONES, VCORE Pros, VCORES and how they are similar to other racquets, like the Head Speeds, the Wilson Blades and the more.

We also discuss which was our favorite model, what strings work best and what modifications we might be making as we play more often with these racquets.

If you have any further questions or want to continue the conversation?! Email us at podcast@tennis-warehouse.com

Happy Hitting!

@TW Staff I probably speak for us all in saying we enjoyed the convo, especially the end where you guys went through your current playtester picks

Any chance we could get a monthly installment where you guys talk shop about gear generally? Instead of having a central topic on a racket line/release?

I'm sure we could do that! That's easy! I guess I always assume it could be a bit boring!

Stay tuned, a couple vlogs coming at ya with playtester picks -- we won't cover everything, but we will cover some of our new fave products!

Thanks for the kind words and listening!

Just finished listening. Enjoyed it while driving around today.

Tiffany mentioned her 100p, but I was surprised nobody brought up the phantom line when comparing the percept to other racquets.

Also, let troy know that the Osaka gp turbos in green/blue were released in big sizes. I picked up a pair in women's 13 :-D

This is super helpful podcast, I was hoping for a deep dive on these frames since I am loving that we now have classic feeling options that are viable for modern tennis.

I find myself relating more and more to Troy's takes. I am not as big as him, but definitely closer to his size than say Chris or a guy with a lean runners build. So while it's easy to say that a heavy frame like the H is for advanced players, I think there is possibly more to it. I have been playing most of my life and have good strokes, but I think an advanced player is someone who wins at 5.0 and up. Of course I may be wrong as UTR considers advanced at UTR6 and up. Anyway, the point is that I think natural strength and size can factor into frame weight too. I played another guy who was an ex football player/lacross player like me and he was killing it with an RF97A, so it just got me thinking that maybe heavy frames can be a good fit for stronger or bigger people in general.

Just a theory, but I'll put it to the test myself since I have a Percept H coming and am currently playing with the Yonex Duel G 330. I have been playing with mainly 305 grams for the past year but I was craving to go back to some old school weight.

Are you all finding the H to come in at a lower SW? Mine is 350 grams strung with a 325 SW. Makes a huge difference compared to my Duel G which is 335 SW.
