Yonex Polytour drive soft

Came here to ask the same question, I got a free set of YPTDSoft with their $2 YPTD promotion. Son plays YPTA so was curious how they were similar.

Just strung this up in a new Dunlop SX 300 Tour (Dunlop's Spin Line) 98 sq. in. Got the string while back on the promo. It's yellow so it matches the frame nicely. I really like this string; played three sets of 4.0 mixed on Saturday and then did some rallying with a friend yesterday (Sunday afternoon). Strung it up at 50 but tension tester app tells me its at 40 but it played quite well; so no big deal. It is comfortable and it has better than average spin; I'm feeling like I can get a little extra pop when I need it with this setup. Seems like a good combo for this new frame and the price (even at list) is quite good. Doesn't seem to kink much when stringing so that was nice. As the weather here in Northern CA gets colder this one is probably going to in a while just for comfort alone. I think it's a solid value. On comparisons to Poly Tour Air - I don't have any input on this; never tried it. Compared to Cyclone Tour -don't know - i've only used Cyclone (Orange). Never tried Cyclone Tour. Compared to Cyclone Orange I'd say this string is softer and has more ball pocketing. Found Cyclone to be a very good string and good value.

Son finally got to try YPTDS, says he felt it hit flatter, was more powerful but less spin, ever so slightly stiffer, than YPTA. But, he’s a 14 year old kid and it was like pulling teeth to get that much out of him. In the end, he said he liked it enough to not immediately cut it out so he’s gonna demo it a bit longer.

This is in an under average spec FX 500.

Edit: apparently mom/coach was running short ball drills today, so throws some shade on the “flatter” comment.

A bit of a thread revival on here, but I finally strung up my promo sample of YPTD Soft. I like the color....so far, that's about it.

Strung in a Blade 100 v8 @ 45lbs.

My first time playing with these, I won a 2-set match in 48 minutes. I had never played on clay, so I figured the tenderness in my elbow was a combination of fresh strings and heavy balls (xtra duty on clay :O). I just played with them for a second time doing drills for an hour and I can feel my elbow again.

They were adequate during the match, but I found them to lack power, touch, feel, and comfort during drills. Control seems to be pretty good, but I'm considering cutting these out after only 2 hours.
