Yonex PolyTour Fire - The hype is real

I may buy a set or two with my next order. Any more feedbacks?

I've gone through about half a reel doing hybrids with Hyper G and Tour Bite Soft.
Love it so far. It seems to lock up quick but that's because I've used it at reference tensions over 50lbs.
Super slick and soft but low powered. Good Feel. I can't tell that big of a difference between PTF and PTP TBH though.
Not a great value considering price.

Did not like PTF, maybe it's better in a hybrid but full bed felt like your average run of the mill string.

I'm planning to do that setup on my ezone 98+ .. how have you been finding it? Not sure which tension I should go for to have as much control as with the current setup which is 55/53 with a slightly stiffer poly...

Compared to cyclone tour, PT Fire is slightly less powerful, more muted so kind of feels more comfortable and lasts longer.
CTour has more spin though

Then you should try a hybrid of the 2, with RPM in the mains. Should get you back some of the bite on the ball, and still have some of the characteristics of PTF.

I usually play with RPM Blast 17g but I just tried out PolyTour Fire 1.20 in my Ezone Tour (98 inch, 315g). Really love the feel. A little less spin than I was getting before but I get more controlled power when I try to max out my racket headspeed.

Cyclone is stiffer, crisper and has more bite. Playability durability is lower, but it's not a classic for nothing for overall playability. Cyclone Tour is much softer than Cyclone and PTF, a tad more feel because of that, but loses tension very quickly and goes dead. PTF is closer to Cyclone in terms of stiffness, so it is in the middle of the 2 in arm friendliness, given the same thickness, however, Cyclone 18L and 19g are close to PTF 1.2 in stiffness. PTF has the least grip on the ball of the 3, but that's not hard considering it's the only unshaped poly here.

wow, how does RP measure control? 100 for control on HGS? looking at the data HGS is a better performing version of PTF

I got two packs of PT Fire as freebies with a recent purchase. I was thinking about using it as the cross in a hybrid with Tier One Tour Status. Anyone here used it in a similar setup and can provide input?

Just redid an Ezone 98 with PTF strung around 52. Holy cow. I couldn’t miss. It lacked any of the pleasant feeling/feedback you get from some strings such as my recent standard of Grapplesnake tour sniper. But the results spoke for themselves. It certainly wasn’t stiff at all. No arm pain whatsoever. Yet it wasn’t at all mushy either. It still felt low powered the way a stiff string would and allowed me to take massive cuts at the ball.

My opponent last night had a very weak second serve. I must have destroyed 75% of them from only a couple feet behind the service line. Sailing long was not even a concern.

My bigger gripe: I remember PTF looked like it was being liquidated on all the big retailers. I think TW had reels of it for $90 or less not all that long ago. Now it appears to be back to a full price (or more) premium comparable to Lux strings. What gives?

I was ready to just commit with another reel this morning but at $215 (yes I know I can shop around and do a little better) I may as well keep shopping and see what else might be comparable.

I haven’t but I’m sure it would be great. Material wise and slipperiness wise, they are extremely similar strings. In fact, I was wondering if Rev is just shaped YPTF.

I was going to but they didn't have the guage I wanted so instead used Poly Tour Pro.
PTP was really good as a cross with PT Rev. The main difference is Fire would probably be a little smoother/dampened compared to PTP, which is a little more crisp, and maybe a tad bit more power from Fire.

In fact, I was wondering if Rev is just shaped YPTF.

That is literally what Rev is.

I tried this string in two situations. I play with wilson h22 16x19 . One with gut mains and ptf crosses work very well. In full bed at 48.5 pounds was kind of disapointing. A ok string doesnt exel in nothing but neither is bad.
