Yonex Power Cushion Pro Shoes

About 7 months ago, I was struggling with foot pain after playing. I had plantar fasciitis. I play 3-4 times a week and couldn't find a good tennis shoe. The tried on the newer Adidas Barricades, but they were immediately uncomfortable for me out of the box.

After doing some research and reading the reviews, I decided to go with the Yonex Power Cushion Pro. Out of the box, they were probably the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned, with almost no break-in required.

Just want to say, I love these shoes, and when this pair is worn out, I'll definitely be ordering more.

Just wanted to add that since wearing these, I've had little to no foot pain. And I love the design. ;)

I'm wearing the D version of these - cheap, comfortable and far far more durable than Barricades. Only negative is heel support (in the sole) isn't as good as I'd like.

I may get a pair of these, the look kind of nice and when I tried them on they felt very good. I've been hearing many good things about these.

They seem to be holding up well too. I might post a picture later of the sole after my 6 months of owning them, playing 3-4 times a week. I haven't found any problems with the insole, and lateral movement in them is very solid.

I love the durable version, fits like a glove and has so much cushion. Hoping to send 'em in soon for the 6 month warranty and get the new version. Hard as hell to wear them out too!

The durable version fits a 1/2 size big btw, compared to the PCP. Both are great shoes. I've tried many brands and Yonex is the best for comfort and durability imo.

Most comfortable tennis shoe I have ever worn. I had no idea shoes could make that much of a difference with respect to pain after playing. In addition, despite the lack of a warranty, they are wearing rather well. I couldn't be happier with mine. Mine are orange.

Yep, I got an orange pair as a gift and wasn't delighted with the colour. Now, I can't take them off. Some of the best shoes on the market. Will be ordering more

I loved these shoes until the sides of my feet all of a sudden got really blistered and bled and I got patellar tendinitis... No idea what happened or if it was even the shoes fault but I'll be more skeptical next time to say the least

I didn't really have any complaints about these shoes. They actually reminded me of the old school CB 4.3s. But I guess after using the LBs and to a lesser extent the Vapor 9s the past couple years, I just got accustomed to those shoes. So I feel a bit more comfortable in those. But I'm sure a few more hours using the PCPs and I'll love them. They feel like they are built like a tank though.

Just wore my new Fusions today. They fit me like a glove, without being overly tight. They are at least as comfortable as my Babolat SFX's but with a noticeably higher performance quotient and a more "locked-in" fit and feel. Traction and cushioning are equally superb, with maximum padding around the ankle and heel. For my feet, these are very good shoes. I will be trying the Pro version next.

Like the OP, I also had a plantar wart about 10 months ago. Eventually, after many doctor visits and different treatments, I had to have it surgically removed. At the time it happened I used the Nike zoom vapor 9.5 tour. When getting back on court (8 months ago) I couldn't force myself to wear the vapor 9.5 again because I associated my plantar wart with them (although I am sure they had no part in it). So for 3 months I wore my alternate shoes (Lotto Raptor Ultra IV which I like very much), and then, when these reached the end of their life I got the Yonex Power Cushion Pro (White\Grey\Red).

I absolutely love the Yonex. It has been 4 months that I am playing with them (3-5 times a week, mostly singles at 4.0 level). They still show no sign of damage.

There are only two negatives with the shoes (not deal breakers by any mean):
1. They are on the heavy side.
2. In the hot summer months, they for some reason maintain humidity inside them like no other shoes I had before.

Again - I love them and no doubt my next shoes will be Yonex again. Most likely the Power Cushion Pro again. However, I am tempted to try the Durable II version just to see if the above two issues are addressed better.

this shoe makes you 10% faster. only powercushion does that. But having said that, it is way too heavy and no ankle support and I hate this one. I won't buy Yonex again til they make it Lighter with better ankle support

I started this thread, and loved my Yonex Power Cushion Pro shoes all the way until they wore out. I think I actually tried to push them a little too far, though. I played in them for about 9-10 months, and started getting tendinitis in my heal. I finally decided to order a new pair, and went with the Yonex Power Cushion Fusion Rev. After playing in them three times, I'm back to having no foot pain again.

My only complaint about the Fusion Rev versus the Power Cushion Pro is that the collar (around your ankle) feels a little stiff. I like the ankle support I'm feeling, but when I flex my ankle side to side, it feels like the shoe is poking me. Hoping it will get better with a little break in. Its not bad enough to dislike the shoe though.

I never minded the weight of the power cushion pro, and the fusion rev is supposedly lighter. So weight or bulkiness hasnt been an issue with me. They feel as light as any other shoe, but they still feel very stable and agile to me.

I'd recommend the Fusion Rev as well as the Power Cushion Pro. Great shoes, in my opinion.

Incredible shoes. Like high performance bedroom slippers for the tennis court. The Fusion Rev have jumped SFX and T22 as my favorite shoes. The lacing system is no gimmick -- it really relieves pressure on the instep no matter how tightly laced. Yonex better keep this one around.

Sounds tempting, but I've had bad experience with Yonex 308. For some reason, I would get immediate aches around my arch whenever I did serious drills in those.

Perhaps the fusion is different. Would never know unless I try.

But then I'm quite happy with Barricades. Pressure on the ankle where the strings are tied needs to be addressed on the Barricade Boost model (perhaps the tongue is too soft), but still excellent comfort for my feet.

EDIT: It turns out the Yonex I had trouble with was 307. I have actually never worn 308. Sorry for the confusion.

Same here -- the 308's killed me. They gave me severe pain on the outside of my foot, somehow torquing the hell out my foot, like they were trying to be the King Kong of anti-supination shoes. I had trepidation going in but, thankfully, the Fusion Rev is a different animal. BTW, the Durable sucked for my feet, running small and being quite different from the fusion in every way. I completely understand how you might feel wary after a bad experience.

Good to know I was not the only one who didn't gel with that shoe. I wonder if I missed all the negative reviews when I purchased those.

Chotobaka and scotus, you two and one other person on this forum are the only ones I have ever seen post anything negative about 308's or Yonex in general. I personally love their shoes. Have worn all thier models for well over 10 years and have never had a single complaint. I know everyones feet are different; but you are differently in the minority one this one. Hope you find your perfect shoes though.

Actually, there have been quite a few people here who had problems with the 308's and voiced their opinions about this. Many thought the 308's were significantly different, and not in a good way, from the 306's which in my opinion were very good shoes. Everyone's feet are different.

Good that you had nothing but positive experiences with all of your Yonex shoes.

Great Picture. I don' think it is in Yonex site just yet. It looks like slightly lighter newer version of the Power cushion pro. Yonex had much feedback about cushion pro that it is too bulky and heavier than weight indicates. Effort was made to create Lighter version that is just as stable with same great cushioning. This is it. I really look forward to this new Model. When Yonex discontinued the 308's , I was all ready to switch to Federer Vapor shoes but NOW, It looks like I don't have to do that at all...............................

Chotobaka, I must have missed the other comments. I agree everyone's feet are different and so is everyones likes. I like the 308's but feel their best shoe was the orginal 304's when they first came out. Those shoes were light as a feather. But they tended to wear out fast.

308's are the BEST shoes Yonex ever made. Power cushion Pro was good but just too bulky and heavy for me. that doesn't help me and actually hurts me. so that is why I am hoping this new shoe is bit lighter in weight without sacrificing stability

Well, those of us that had problems were definitely in the minority. The 308's were wildly popular shoes. The original 304's were fantastic shoes, fast wear notwithstanding.

The Durable II ran very small for me, so you may want to consider up-sizing. I believe they are the lightest shoes in the current Yonex lineup, which is what prompted me to try them in the first place (light and durable is hard to resist). It is a very different design than the either the Pro or Fusion Rev. Nicely made shoe, just not for my wide forefoot.

My foot is also wide so your input is good. In that case, I will not try them.

The power cushion pro are very good for wide foot.

CORRECTION: I goofed.

I went inside my closet to check on the Yonex shoes.

The ones I had so much trouble with are the 307 model. I actually have not tried the 308.

I have been looking at Yonex shoes for sometime now because of all of the positive comments about cushioning and comfort mostly. These look cool and the look I like so these will probably be my next pair.

Yonex shoes get great reviews. I've been looking for shoes that will play hard and also protect my knees from impact. I really wanted to try these shoes, but the consistent knock on them is that they have a wide fit. I have narrow feet, so unfortunately, that's a deal killer for me. If they ever come out with a narrow (or even just a medium) model that does all these great things, that would be awesome.

The Yonex website mentions a narrow fit shoe. Don't know the name of it offhand.
