Yonex quality control -- insane

I bought a Dr 100L lime 8 months ago or so...
now I bought an blue version of the Dr 100L (which is extremely rare by now) and they have exactly the same balance point.
Great job yonex! :)

and the weight is the same +\- 0.2 gram

Lets only mention i have 3 Radical OS racquets - and they are all WAY unmatched.. to the point you think thats really not the same racquet anymore.

Wonderfull, but to make it statistically more significant you should buy a few more ;)
Do they feel the same too when playing because there is somewhere a discussion tbat the different coloured ezone dr frames play different? Probably in the mind of the players then ;)

you are right..but two frames are enough for me. They feel absolutely the same man! However I cannot judge as this new one bblau was bought used and has a different string at a little lower tension. Trying figure out which string it is as I like it very much. It is black and a little rectangular (like sonic pro edge). Anyone has an idea?

i think a two lime frames can be as different as one lime vs blue, and two blue ones can also be diffent.
but i had luck on these two. the balance point and the weight is absolute the same.

very nice frame. Tried the 300g APD - and didnt like it so much - way too much power

They do play differently. Green is crisper, blue is more plush. I've tried 2 of the lime green and 4 blue ones.

Maybe you didnt like the apd because you compare it with the L version of the ezone?
Black code S is rectangular too.

Got my second Vcore98+ and it is precisely 305g. Forgot to weigh my first one before I installed the leather grip unfortunately.

I too was disapointed by the quality control of yonex rakets,,, grrrrrrr
I read and read and read posts about how to match racquets,,,
I bought 3 identical y.vcore.tour.g,310s,,,
I went/ran home exited to custom match the weight myself,,
I brought/set out everything I would need todo the job!,, ( 2 scales, several pads of paper/pencil to write everything down,, my own balance board, my x2 360yard rolls of 1/4" and 1/2" lead tape,, several rools of electrical tape, overgrips, new grips, etc.etc),,
needless to say, I was ready to take on the challenge,,,
I started to weight the rakets,, and frustration set in right away, when I notised that all 3 rakets weighed the same,,,, grrrrrrrr
within < .2grams
all that anticipation for nothing, haaaaa

Those are TWE measured VCore SV 95.

They ironically all came in too heavy as the VCore SV 95 is supposed to weight 310g, so it's a not so insignificant difference.

Yonex is notorious for being unmatched quality control

Also - did you all know that TW offers some kind of frame matching service??? If you order 2, they will make sure your frames are identical.
Who knew..

That was the matching service. In Europe, they ask for 20€, measure 6 frames (if available) and you can pick the one(s) you want. They ask for 10€ extra per racquet. It's kind of a bummer, they're heavier than expected from the specs sheet and TW/TWE average, with lighter SW. They are close to each other within that batch and the balance is really on point, but the weight isn't near the printed specs.

I just purchased 2 Yonex vcore pro 97 frames from a seller that purchased that service...can't say I have a professional scale to measure them, but they feel pretty close..

:-D Great control for weight and balance, except my mate just bought a ezone 2020, went to string it and it was missing an entire grommet haha
unfortunate...
I guess we can only speak annecdotally, as I don't know of any data collected about this.

Just to counter this with my own experience, I have 4 Ai98’s and the heaviest one weighs 7g more than the lightest one. That’s not stellar in my opinion. I have matched them all as best I can, but I was hoping for better after all the Yonex quality control talk here on forum.

you're doing the wrong math. What you should be doing is seeing how far off the racquets are from the manufacturer's claimed specs. If it's 3.5g over and under for those 2 racquets, that's a lot better than most other brands. It's up to you as the buyer to ask your shop to weigh up the racquets and find the least spread. Yonex has an industry leading standard of 5g +/- Japan origin specs, 40% better than the 7g +/- manufacturer tolerances of the likes of Wilson and Babolat. I just bought 2 new old stock SV98+, and they 1.5g +/- total weight, 0.1mm +/- on balance. Swing weight was within 6 kg/cm2.

Mine DR98 was 7g lighter than it should be, balance was 30,6. It should be 31cm. And SW was ultra low.

Have six more racquets measurements. Still not getting close to 310g, but the frames are still relatively close to each other.

Isn’t that due to the plastic on the handle/grip? IIRC, my Blades had 3-4 grams of plastic there
Could be, but up to seven grams of plastic is quite heavy. I've never had plastic wrap even a couple grams heavy, but I'm willing to suppose its possible.

So you have the reason. There is a vid on YT where a guy measures several Ezone 98 racquets and they are all within 1.5 g.

Should I order the racquets (emphasis on "should"), I will report back.

It's not to say that the QC level isn't great on some points, but there are discrepancies in the batch that are a bit more problematic to match; notably because the balance is near perfect, which makes SW and weight a bit harder to tinker with. Sometimes racquets with bigger variances are a bit easier to match between each other.

Yes. Sometime.
I suppose if the balance is the same for these racquets. Then I’d go with the lower weight and lower SW racquets, so it’d be easier to tinker with. Suppose it is easier to increase the SW and near impossible to decrease the SW.

I got 2 vcore pro 97s matched and these were the specs of the rackets with the plastic on.

Actually I wanted a higher SW for a more polarized frame, so static weight and balance was a bit more important to me since as you said SW is easier to increase.

I purchased 2 VCORE Pro HDs--1 used and 1 new from separate sources. There is a .5g difference between the 2 strung. The string are different, so will need to weigh both unstrung. Anything within 5 grams is really good.

As I am going through a box beam phase atm.....

Took the VCore DG 97 310 out fo the storage bag tonight as I was quite keen trying to match it to my Blade 98/Pure Strike 98 spec.

This is the first time I realised the DG97 is longer than 27”, even though it said 27” length on the frame. It is indeed 27.12”/68.9cm long. :X3:

(On the other hand, the RDiS 200 was spot on at 27”)

Specs for VCORE Pro 97 HD. Specs are with the plastic wrap on the handle.

are you saying you purchased 5 of these from TW, and these are their stats??
Just curious - did you calibrate the machine first?
Is this the average measurements of each statistic based on a number of measurements, or did you take each measurement once?
I'm shocked that the weight is all abve the stated weight, and there is such a difference

I paid 20€ for matching service on TW Europe. They offered me these 6 racquets. I choose the first two. I was suprised by the racquets that deviate from the standard specifications. The difference is quite large. By this, yonex is not a safe purchase without matching service. QC is certainly better than the others, but there are obviously some racquets that deviate quite a bit.

Did TW offer any insight into this issue?
a 2% difference in weight seems to be beyond the acceptable range...
On the other hand..You might prefer slightly more weight, and if so, you could have chosen frames 3&5, I guess

They didn't explain anything. The two racquets I bought were in accordance with the factory specifications, so I didn't bother with the higher values, but I was certainly surprised by the large deviation on the individual racquets. I have never used a matching service before, but in the future I will use it without thinking, at least you know what you got.

I more shocked about the swingweight. Look at Nr 5.
So far I thoguht Yonex has some kind of bullet proof QC
