Yonex RDiS 100

Chopin

Legend
Is anyone still playing with the Yonex RDiS 100 mid? I've been with mine since 2009 and they're great racquets--good power, very stable and easy to swing. The only negative for me is that they're a tad stiff, especially in the throat.

Anyone else still using these beauties?

i bust it out every once in a while, but it is very stiff. My arm gets a bit heavy after an hour of hard hitting with that frame. I would have to condition a bit to use it.

I used the 93 for my last two years of high school and first two in college. very nice frame.

I understand why people say it's stiff, but it's still much less stiff than the Pure Drive, which is a hugely popular racquet.

^Pretty interesting. The stiffness rating of 68 is indeed stiff, but I'm still surprised that some have found it so stiff considering that many people play with the Babolat Pure Drive and Aero Drive, which are both stiffer on paper.

yeah, but rdis is rock solid and has feel. babolat feels hollow and has no feel

Completely agree. Granted, my main stick is the Pure Drive Team (2005?) which doesn't have the hollow feel of the new versions, but the RDIS 100 is definitely SOLID. I'm currently back with the mp version, and tinkering with the set-up to make it swing a bit faster through the air. Also have to build up the butt cap a bit...

I'm also playing with the mp version, never tried the mid cause of all those stiffness issues.
My MP has 2+2 grams at 10&2 and a yonex leather grip and it plays great!

That's because when properly marketed by the right stars, it'll sell regardless of RA rating.

I played the RDiS100 Mid and Midplus and they were very un-Yonex like. The 93 version, which I recently sold, felt like a lighter version of the RDS001 90, which I recently sold. I still roll out the MP-1 Tour 90's and SRD Tour 95's every once in a while and those RA was 64 and 62, respectively, they didn't play stiff. Beneficial, however, was that while playing the MP-1 Tour 90 at the time of its heyday there wasn't a real prevalence of poly strings that can cause arm issues when not strung properly. I have tried poly strings on them now but, in my opinion, arm problems for me develop not because of stiffness but due to an added 15 years from when I last used those sticks. Age does have its drawbacks.

I still have three brand new plastic on the handle mids. I attempted to switch to this stick a few years back. I think it does everything well. It is stiff however. I have one strung now with gut/4g at 51/47 and I think I could still lessen the 4g (or switch to a softer poly). I strung it once at 43/40 with Yonex poly tour string and it was pretty plush!

I am finally making the racquet switch from my trusty K90. I simply don't play enough lately to make good use of it. I've got a vcore 95d and the rdis 100 mid. It'll be one of those two.

I've tried all of the racquets you mentioned, and used to have a SRD Tour 95. My main racquet was the Yonex RD-7, which is super flexible, so it's interesting that I've switched to a much stiffer frame. We've been together for almost five years, too! Before this I played with the Yonex MP-Tour 5. I'd actually like to get my hands on a new RD-7. Thanks for your post!

Do many pros still use the original Pure Drive? Thanks!

If you can find an unused RD7 or a pristine condition one, I would be surprised.

I still have my RD7 as well. I strung it up with a poly, I forget which, and it did play pretty well. I was able to get some SRD Tour 95 grommets from Yonex as they are impossible to replace. Maybe I should sell these sticks. People seem to have a love affair with them.

I currently use the rdis100 mid, and I love it! But I don't play as often as I used to so now it's getting more difficult to play as well with the mids. And lucky my sister just bought me babolat pure strike tour, and I really like it so maybe I'll switch.

I was a 5.0 level player but now I'm probably 4.5ish since I coach more then I play competitive.

I'm sure of it. Babolat simply paints on the graphics of the cortex system (i.e. Roddick, Li Na, Nadal with the Aeropro).

In other news, I added some lead to my RDIS 100 mp at 10 and 2 and put on a leather grip like one poster suggested. Plays so solid but might have a bit too much heft for me. Back to the drawing board!

I've saw a new one on the bay in the past couple of months. Edit there's one on the Bay right now. Brand new.

Mine have 5 grams at 12 o'clock and a 1.3mm TW leather grip plus a Wilson over grip. That comes to about 362 grams and 31.8cm balance. Pretty perfect in my book. If only that throat were a tad less stiff!

Yeah, it's the throat man. I'm playing NRG 16 in it now and it helps.

Yea maybe it's little too much heft and I also felt it at the beginning because the raquet originally swings pretty light, but once I got used to it everything is just fine, almost perfect!

Someone must be using one still...I remember they racquets were well-received on the Boards

I've been using it for about 6 months now. I agree, they are a little stiff. I found very hard to find the right string set up.
Now I'm stringing full bed with poly at 44.
Any suggestions on strings for this raquet?

Yes, the yellow one. I've also used Luxilon Big Banger Original at the same tension and like that as well (44/41).

I picked an RDIS 700 98 recently, leded it up somewhere between a tweener and players stick, full poly at 50/40 and Wow! Really good and comfy even at 27.5".
