YONEX rds 002 tour, THE RACQUET?

My 1HBH is my bread and butter shot and my forehand is the shot that always breaks down in a match. After video analysis earlier this year, I found that I tensed up much more when hitting my forehand and was much more relaxed on the backhand side. I also went to a more of an open stance and a pull type of forehand and I have seen improvement. the 002 tour is a frame that you need to be relaxed with and the positive results will come.

And have in mind that basil j, has the UL version of this raquet..

Really basil, have you played with 001MP? If so, can you describe differences between those two?

i reply to my own question (i forgot about the answer basil j , has in previous page of this thread)

I owned the RDS001 MP for a while and found it pretty low powered and pretty stiff. It is a sub 12 ounce frame and it swings fairly lightly. I think the 002 tour feels better on every shot and is a more comfortable frame. I also find that it plays light for a 12+ oz frame. I never tried the 002 so I can't comment, but I ilke frames that are in the 12-1.6 oz weight range so I didn't consider an 002 . If it plays the same , except in a lighter vesrion, then I would say that it is worth a spin. I have a bum shoulder and I only use VS gut in any frame I play with now and it has made a world of difference for me. I did not like the tour in the summer when I tried it with a poly hybrid. With the Gut, it has more life to it. The rds 001 probably would have played better with gut as well.
Hope this helps.

I hope not according to their characterristics and what was said in this forum,
Eventhough their weight is about the same, seems like the distrubution of maze is different and i expept 002 TOUR UL to be more stable than 001MP.

I weighted my 001 MP and 002TOUR SL strung with overgrips, and were about the same size 335 gr (maybe 2 - 4 gr difference) but the 001 is easier to move (smaller swingweight) and the 002 T SL is more solid and easier to play against big hitter. You can retour a big hit, even if you late, very easy.
My problem is the swingweight.
The swingweights are identical between the two. Just check the specs. Swingweight, RA, weight and balance are nearly identical. Again, it's the UL version, not the SL version that you and basil are playing with.

And the swing weight isn't identical 322 001MP vs 330 002 TOUR (i guess the SL)
Compare the 001MP to the 002 Tour UL.

001MP = 317, 11.8, RA61, 12.45HL
002 Tour UL = 321, 11.6, RA62, 12.5HL

Those numbers are nearly identical and within the margin of error between the manufacturing and the measuring.

Strange numbers...Where did you pick them up from? I saw mine from TW store

Played a good set at lunch today. The 002 tour has now become my main frame and unless it bothers my shoulder, I don't think I will be looking else where for a frame. I like the fact that I can go from defense to offense very easily with this racquet, and when I miss a shot I almost always know why. Even with synthetic gut( I am amwaiting for my gut order to arrive) I find good control and feel with this frame. It is not as spinny as I thought it would be, but I still manage to get good action on the ball with minimal effort.

this site you mentioned has serious mistakes as the stiffness of the 001MP. They give it 61 and 002Tours' 62...

Nikolaki, my compatriot, I am happy to report that I have had no joint pain whatsoever with the yonex. At first I was getting a tender elbow but I quickly realized that I was choking the crap out of the handle when serving. I now serve with a very relaxed grip , with my pinky finger half way off the bottom of the handle and I get more pace and control due to a relaxed swing and loose grip and no pain at all..Great racquet. You can really stick volleys well and it plays great from the baseline. The only thing I don't like is that the Yonex grips run a bit smaller than the Dunlop & wilson grips.

You can also get them directly from Yonex's site. Here they are:

RDS001 MP = 11.5oz, 310SW, 65RA, 9pts HL
RDS002 Tour UL = 11.6oz, 324SW, 64RA, 7pts HL

played again with the 002Tour against a 3.0 player.... i had all the time in the world to set up to crush cross court winners. felt fantastic.
my serve was way off, though my 2nd serve had good kick on it.

this really is a good racquet and if i wanted to just dominate the local yokels, i'd stick with it... but i really think a lighter & faster swinging racquet might help when playing other guys that like to rip the cover off the ball.
we shall see.... i am going to play with a lighter and more powerful racquet this weekend.

Played a good hour today at lunch. I have been working diligently on serving nothing but second serves this month amd today I had some great pace and kick on both kickers and slice serves. This frame really rewards concentration(like any frame would, duh) and a relaxed arm. I still am struggling a bit on the forehand side, but I just think I need to get out and hit forehands for an hour or two and get dialed into the very unique feel this frame has. I sold my Dunlops and am now only playing the yonex. The frame has been very arm friendly and the pace of my shots is improving with every session. I don't see this frame ever when I am on court and it really surprises me that Yonex is not more popular here on the east coast.

i'm on the East Coast and used Yonex for many years... and seen some shops in FLA that do a great job promoting them...I agree the Yonex 002Tour has some special characteristics... and eary forehand preparation is crucial and rewarded, but I've decided they just aren't for me... if anybody wants some 9+ condition racquets (3/8 grips), check my posting here:

Hit with a buddy of mine today that ironically uses an RDS 002 tour. He really got a lot of action on the ball and mixed it up very well with different pace and height. I haven't played 2 days in row in a while and My level of play dropped off quite a bit from my match yesterday. He really likes the frame and doesn't even think about using another frame. His game has definetly improved since moving to the Yonex from a Babolat pure storm.

I finally got mt shipment of gut. I wanted to try the tonic +15l and I was a bit disapponited with this string. Right now I have one of my frames strung with 17Klip dentonatorat 59#m/56# crosses and the frames plays quite well. Spin, power and control are great. I was hoping that the 15l would give me everything the 16gauge VS gut gave me but It did not. I found that I lost some spin and most of my shots were either landing on the servivce line or long. I was very frustrated wit the unpredictability of this string, especially since I have been using VS gut in a 16 gauge on all of my racquets for about 6 months now with great satisfaction. I'm hoping that it just needs to settle since I have my first league match on Sunday. Anybody else have any issues with babolat tonic versus VS gut? it felt great, but I had no idea whwer the ball was going to go last night.

That league match went great, but I have gone back to the dunlop 200G since then. The yonex was a great serving stick, but I always struggled with control on my groundstrokes. I have been using the aerogel 200 exclusively for about 8 weeks now with very good success. Yasou Vre!

I took off of my bag the RQiS1 tour and my old RDS001Mp and i left only the 002 Tours.
I go back and forth though, to the SL and UL version. I found the heavier version to have more maze and if you have the ability to swing it fast, is the best choise. otherwise the lighters version is the best alternative sofar.
I strung the 2 with Hybrid (1 x multi | polyester, 1 x gut | kevlar), and 1 with full syn-gut.
