Yonex RDS 003

Rookie
im looking for a new racquet and so far ive been pulling for the yonex rds 003 than the aeropro ddrive.

can someone tell me the pros and cons of the yonex rds 003?

thanks

for serving you have to have an easy swing for it to work. If so it has nice pace. My spin on serves was less than average. Groundstrokes and volleys were very easy, but again it was better for flat shots than topsin imo.

I had the 003 for a while. It is more sluggish than its specs suggest. I found it hit great for flat serves and flat shots, but not as good for spin.

If you like extended lengths, consider the Volkl Cat 8 VE. It is the racquet I settled on and I have not been dissapointed.

Yeah, the grip shape is nice, although I agree with everyone else that they are running a tad big now, even if it was measured. I have an old yonnie for direct comparison

Not familiar with standard Wilson grips/shape. I like the Wilson Pro Overgrip thou

I am in a similar situation as you are, but instead of the Aero Pro, I'm between the Roddick and the Yonex RDS 003 and Yonex RQS 11. I just came back from my local tennis shop with an Aero Pro demo to hit a little more with it... In my first go around, I didn't quite like it (it felt like a "sling shot"), but I decided to give it another try based on comments on here...

At any rate, I loved both Yonex. My experience with the RDS 003 has been great. I'm a 5.0 player, hit the ball hard, with lots of spin and loved the RDS 003. I also liked the RQS 11, but found a little less control with it... Another thing that I like about the RDS 003 is the quality (second to none) in terms of looks (quality of finish, decals, eyelets, grip, etc) and specs.

Specifically, I've been weighting/measuring every racket I demo (by now have tried 25 to 30+ rackets), and Yonex specs are *always* spot on. Other manufacturers (will not mention names) are all over with their specs (what is written in the websites and spec sheets, is different from what is written on the rackets, which is still different from what one measures/weights, even accounting for strung/unstrung weight, grip size, etc).

Hope this helps! :)

Yup, yup. Mine weighed in at 11 oz even. 4 3/8 grip, strung with 16L string, with no overgrip/dampner.

Although I do use an overgrip/dampner.

As noted above, the Yonex grips are exactly as spec'd for all that I have measured. I recently measured an RDS 001 MP demo - 4 3/8 label, 4 3/8 measured, same w/my 4 1/2 RDX Mid - measures exactly as spec'd.
