Hello,

This thread is for those that use the
YONEX RDS 001 MID racquet.
Exclusively, and not those that change gear to Avery/Dunlop/Vantage
every week. (you know who you are! shameful Yonex club members!) :)
So if you are a diehard RDS001 mid user... WELCOME and JOIN the CLUB!
Club membership is provided for those that show us a pic of their RDSmid. Extra credit given for a pic of the user WITH their racquet.
Pics with user and TROPHY or at a tournament get free pack of Ramen noodles!
A club with 1 user is no club, so join up, and show us a pic!
My pic should be up soon... once I get it uploaded.

I just demoed this racket, I want to say that this is the most amazing racket in it's class.

It has a full classic fullbodied type feel, the frame is stiff and so so true, but the string bed feels very nice and soft so that if you miss hit it is not jaring at all.

This racket has more control than any other players frame old or new that I have ever hit with, just simply amazing.

Most of the new rackets feel like BS, this one is exactly what you would expect for a true advancement.

This racket is weak no where to any degree.

The best part is the racket is ~12.0oz, so it has so much room for customization.

I modded this racket to PIM PIM's specs and it was just amazing, much more to what I am used to as I play with heavier rackets.

SW 350, I have never smacked the ball so hard with so much control, on back hadn forehand serve ect, and the sweetspot felt like a 95sqin

As for playing stock, if you consider yourself a ball striker and depend on your racket doing EXACTLY what you want right when you want, then this racket is for you.

You don't need to be any more than a 4.0 to be able to enjoy what this racket has to offer.

Also what was so amazing about the power was that it gave as much power as you put in, there were no hot spots where I was wonder what just happend. I could smack it from the basline but the control is still there and then rip an angle.

So if the K90 or N90 was not quite for you but you want a racket in this range, you simply can't go wrong here.

I definitely am a racquet ho! But I did manage to keep my RDS001 MP (that is the only racquet I will not part with)
Has anyone told you that you resemble Hewitt?

nice assessment jackson vile,

i agree it has lots of room for customization.
some reviews here go a little overboard... i prefer
to stay reasonable.. it is just a lump of graphite...
nothing to go loopy over, but as far as racquets go,
this is a very nice one.

Not too stiff, not too flexy and it does remind me of
a "classic" Yonex frame. I wanted to like the RDX but
something just didn't click with me when I tried it. As soon
as I used the RDS, everything felt good.

And I certainly wouldn't be so harsh to give it negative review points because of the paint color. If this was all gray or green or whatever I would still like the way this frame plays. Being yellow...well it certainly stands out! If you are going to be yellow ... be BRIGHT YELLOW!!!

weird... Hewitt??? strange! i was yelling COME ON at the time... interesting!

I guess I'll join the club. I own 3 of 'em. Have used them as my main racquet since they got released ..it's been about a year now.

I just noticed your string setups, how is the spin? Also have you added any lead?

The first time out with the Gut/"nanocubic" was great... as good as it gets, especially for serving. Once the feel and tension started to drop, I switched to the Sensation/Duralast hybrid.
I was expecting playability to decline, but I have been totally surprised by the results. It played AMAZING when I first brought it out and has held up great. Its about time to restring, but I have played a month with the same Sensation strings in the mains.. no notching no fraying... strange from all of the bad comments I have heard about it.

I love the way the racquets play stock, but I have been experimenting with lead. I have added 16 grams I think...
I started with 8 grams at 3&9 and was surprised how much it altered my serve timing.. so I counterbalanced with 8 grams on the buttcap.

Haven't played much with this setup though....
I need to weigh it too. It is probably at 12.7 but I want to check so I can customize my others too if I like this setup.

also WELCOME JAMAUSS!!!! (just saw your posting)

Can I join? The mid is my holy grail, in case you haven't noticed me telling everyone who will listen to buy it. ;)

yes Voltron... quite naturally you would be included.
However, you sometimes go a little overboard.. but the
enthusiasm is good.
I just don't think everybody will like the RDS001 mid quite
as much as you do.
(secretly... I must confess... I do too!)

oh and guedoguedo... I am not posting in your thread but
I use gripsize 4 1/2 too! woowoo

Hey, where did you put the lead to achieve that balance/weight. I also use a RDS 001 mid, but i find it swings a bit too lightly at times...but i suck at finding the right ammount of lead to put on a racquet.

I think my 001 90 is about 12.5 ounces and it's a dream come true. Unseen is about 10 grams to the top of the grip and it's made it so much better.

Couldn't stand the yellow

that should be a crime to paint an RDS the color of a t.u.r.d

Sign me up!
I've just switched over to the RDS001 Mid from my heavily customized PC600's. To be honest, I didn't actually like the racquet at first, but after a little tweaking (each of my four 001's now weighs about 375 grams strung, while retaining the original balance point), I've come to love it!
Great racquet, and personally, I think the paintjob is not that bad at all; much better in person, anyways...

I just brought the specs to PIM PIM's and the racket was just amazing, IMO this racket at least ties with the all best rackets of all time.

Except here is the thing this racket has no weakness.

The SW is 350 static ~12.8oz, I split the lead, half under the bumper guard the other half in the butt cap.

I suggest people try a very low powerd string in the crosses or even something stiff and string the crosses 1-3lbs lower and something nice in the mains.

IMO you will want to keep the string bed bit stiffer than what you regularyly do, and if you can stand string saver throw those in there as well.

So basically, you added 3.5oz to just 11, 12, 1 o clock? Or just 12 o clock? And then the remaining 3.5oz to the buttcap?

Sounds interesing (definatley gonna try it). I use a 2 handed backhand and altough the racquet works well for my forehand...it feels like it swings too light on the backhand side. My racquet is stock now except for a leather grip. I was originally thinking to make the racquet less head light, but didnt know how to go about that. The past few weeks i have been using my LM Instinct XL, which has made my backhand stronger while keeping my forhand about the same. However, i like the yonex more because of its feel (the instinct has a terrible metalic feel) and it had more control...like i can place a ball anywhere on the court.

Well time to go pick up some lead tape. :-D Thanks.

IMO I would think that people with 2hbh that like ~10ptHL rackets are either relying on the lead hand more or just have a slower swing on that side.

At any rate, yes adding lead will indeed help, but you may want to first just try adding lead to the head, now if it is too powerful you can either solve that through string type and tension and/or making the racket more head light.

As for the LMIXL just simply add a rubber band to the bottom of the center mains like you see the pros do, this made the racket feel extremely more solid for me. Also in this racket I recomend a very low powered string, if you don't like polys a very good cheep choice would be Sheep Micro orginal or super.

I've got my bouncer VOLTRON on the scene to keep the club exclusive.
No MID, no pass into the VIP room at RDS90.
NO SOUP FOR YOU!
(but thanks for passing by...)

1. C'mon people no pictures recently... this club is lame.
2. Question of the day? What is the best color overgrip to go
with the RDS001mid? White/Black/or Blue?
My vote: BLACK
3. Did anybody buy an RDS mid from TW and get a dampener not Blue/Purple with it? Did you get a white one? I would trade 2 purple ones for 1 clear one. I have 5-6 purples....

Hmmmm I'll put photos up in a few minutes, and if you lived anywhere near me, I could get you clear ones I think. (I know the rep)

Yup, i do use my left and more in my 2 handed backhand...its kinda like my right hand pulling the racquet through while my left pushes the racquet forward. (for the lack of a better explaination).

I have always been using rubberband dampeners on all my racquets...they sound so much better then without it...especially compared to those cheap head logo dampeners. I'm planning to get the strings changed on them with a poly when the current strings break or in a few weeks when it gets warmer outside. It has some Head multi in it right now which is fairly low powered...but i think they add to the poor feel of the racquet since they are soo mushy that they feel kinda dead...cant really complain though since it was basically free string that came with the racquet.

I'll let you know how the lead experimenting goes when i head out to the courts next time.

Amen. I've got two of 'em, even though I'm not a 9.0. :) This is the nicest racquet I've ever played with, excepting POSSIBLY, my PS 6.0 85.

One of mine is leaded up to SW2, more or less, to 365 grams. What a log!

Anybody have more than this? Show 'em!
Dang if I can't find more CLEAR dampeners... sigh.
How you like the NBF3????

Then it's perfect for me as well. Although the paint chips too easily when preforming "standard activities". LOL

I have been impressed with how well the paint holds up. Especially the silver part... but the bumperguard is VERY thin and soft. I am going to go through lots of those!

Really? Mine have a bunch of chips on them already. I guess you don't go for every ball then.

i've gotten quite a few chips on my as of late. now i just rub some candle wax around the frame and bumper guard, last line of defense.

Voltron -
ahh true, just today i lost 2 points on skidding balls that I basically conceded to save my paint!

My 001 90 came with a baby blue\pink damper! Ok, you're thinking that some girls will use it so they should cater to them on some examples, but my racquet is 4 5/8 grip size!
