Yonex RQIS 1 Tour XL - info needed....

Yesterday I met with a Yonex rep and he had this racket with him. I couldn't take the racket for a demo (not until next week).

However when just shadow swinging the racket it feels awesome. I played with the normal red/black RQIS 1 tour and to me it felt too underpowered / flexy / and sluggish - however it had an amazing 'feel'.

I have a feeling this new 'xl version' could be everything that the standard RQIS 1 tour failed to be. According to a famous australian tennis site which already stocks the new frames the stiffness of the new XL tour is only 1 point below the RDS001 MP. This to me sounds great as I thought the RDS001 MP had perfect flex.

Also the weight is 315 (unstrung) which sounds great as today there are very few players rackets that come at this unstrung weight. Most are usually 325 grams plus.

So.....has anyone hit with this new frame or heard anything about how it plays?

(PS: the PJ looks awesome in real life)
 
I'll be glad when Yonex finally releases this stick. I don't know why they've been dragging their feet on it for so long.

It's almost identical to the rds001mp in weight, balance, swingweight and stiffness. except head size, beam width and string pattern.

Yes the XL indeed makes up for the sluggishness of the regular rqis 1 tour. A very wise move from Yonex introducing a higher stiffness version of the rqis 1 tour.

I was thinking of getting this racket , but after reading this thread ,I am not so sure about it. Is the blue/yellow PJ the XL version ; the stiffness of that racket would definitely not be suitable for myself

These specs have got to be unstrung. There's no way it would have a swing weight that low strung. I am surprised by the stiffness. I thought they would go stiffer, but not that stiff.

These are the specs TW has posted. These numbers seem a lot more on target. It looks like the flex rating is 64 and not 73. This is more like what the original RQiS 1 should have been. Looks like a real sweet racquet.

TW measures strung. The 73 was measured unstrung.

I agree it's what the rqis 1 tour should have been.

And I just wanted the OP to notice that meanwhile the specs have been posted on TW thus eliminating the question of exact specs other than the ones mentioned by Yonex, that is flex and swingweight.

If you re-read the first post the OP did not ask for exact specs (as he already has them from the Australian site).

No.

Yonex wouldn't do that. It would steal sales from the regular tour version. In perspective of marketing stratege they did the right thing releasing it a year later.

That's files under "well duh." There is a huge difference between "should have" and better off marketing wise.

TW uses Babolat RDC. The Australian site uses a different swingweight machine. Of course there will be variations. Doesn't make TW the benchmark. Important thing is the measured stiffness difference of one racquet in relation to another. If that is consistent then its a reliable source. In the case of rqis 1 tour XL, TW listed the stiffness as 64 (regular tour is 61). The Australia site has XL as 73DA while the regular tour is 68DA, all unstrung specs. The differences between the two are quite acceptible. Why don't you checkout the site and see for yourself.

Yep. Yonex seems to be the one racquet company that understands that progress is incremental and user driven, not driven by the marketing department. They constantly make small, user driven improvements to their player's frames. If the resulting racquet is not right, they fix it. Obviously engineers call the shots at Yonex. You can trace the lineage of their player's frames back 25 years if you have examples of all of them. As I do. :) :(

This is the total opposite of the big marketing driven firms like Wilson and Prince, that junk entire racquet lines so they can trumpet new, sometimes suspect technology.

Well put; I couldn't agree more.

I had a Yonex R-27 in High School and caught all kinds of heckover it (it was the "Martina" racquet) -

All these years later when I got back into playing, my club pro, put me into Prince....Boy am I glad that I switched back to Yonex. You can feel the quality...

im thinking of buying this racket
is it cool if we get a review from someone who has this racket
i dont care about the weight i was planning to use lead tape
also if you guys can can you compare it to the yonex rds 001 mid and the original yonex rqis tour cause i want more power but not babolat power
