Yonex VCORE 98 305

Hi tennis nerds,

I've been playing with VC98 305 2021 about half a year and I think I just started to understand its secrets - it needs a good swinging technique to open up.
Still, seldom my shots fly past the baseline and I can't get the right amount of precision to make an opponent run through the court. Sometimes I switch to VCore Pro 95 (matt green one) which is on another end of precision spectrum yet no powerful enough.
Are there any adjustments known to this community to VC98 to domesticate it and eventually make it more precise?

Thx.

Recently switched to the VCore Pro 97 (2019 edition/matte green) and noticed the same as you - requires good technique/form in order to generate any type of power and precision. Very stiff as well. Not the rackets fault, I'm probably just not at the level to use it properly so I'll probably sell it. Curious if the new Ezone 98/100 will suit me better....

You can tighten that tension by a couple lbs if you're looking for a tad bit extra control. Overall, ptp is pretty good string for control as it is. You could always test out the vcore 95 (I think the racquet you mentioned above is the vcore pro 97).

The vcore 95 is a bit more control oriented with a smaller head and 16/20 string pattern and has a lower launch angle. For your current set up with the vc98, I'd start with tightening the tension and that should keep balls from flying out

like 52 lbs? perhaps I can go lower gauge 120 since I have to change it anyway? I am not a string-breaker.

This is something you may have to keep experimenting with to find your perfect set up. You can start with 53 or 54 lbs and go up from there if you need more control. If you lower the gauge, you may want to tighten it by an extra lb

Hi Folks,

Having 3 racquets at the moment ('21VC98, '21VC95, and '18VCP97) I was offered an opportunity to trade my '21VC98 for '18 VCP97HD, would that be any meaningful addition to my package given I have non-hd version already? I didn't give VC98 enough time to become a family member due to lack of control, so I thought maybe HD version will be my control/power trade-off.
