Just ordered a VCT "after reading this stupid thread". String suggestions? I have some Lynx Tour on hand, as well as some confidential 1.20, tour hex, M8 and MSV Swift. I like some bite on my strings.
I know many vcore regular players with lynx tour 1.25 but havent tried it personally. Tour hex sounds good. So far I tried toroline super toro/enso pro and it was very powerful but linear and addictive. Tried also 1.30 firestorm at the same tension and it was a bit stiff and boring. Will wait for the tension drop. I was shocked. I think dont go higher than 22.5 kg. Most around here stay lower with their tours as well from what i was readingJust ordered a VCT "after reading this stupid thread". String suggestions? thanks! I usually string around 22kg, might go a bit lower with the Lynx tour. I'm enjoying wasabi/enso pro in my percept 97, but I'm all out of wasabi at the moment. two reels I have the everyone here seems to love but I just can't seem to gel with that much are tour hex and m8. but maybe their a good fit for the vct.I know many vcore regular players with lynx tour 1.25 but havent tried it personally. I am testing toroline strings but its hard to know for sure which combo could be the best. I like k-pop spin potential but it goes dead quite quick and looses feel. I am afraid wasabi X could be too powerful with too high launch. Enso pro sounds like a happy middle ground cross string for wasabi. I wanna try super toro/enso pro and super toro/caviarthanks! With what tension you usually string this hybrid ?I can speak positively about my experiences with Enso Pro. I've tried it in full bed, which was really comfortable/powerful. It's worked best as a cross. I've broken it as a cross twice in the sweet-spot and I usually don't break polys before they go dead.
I've tried it as a cross with Poly Tour Rev, Toro, Super Toro, and Wasabi. Feels great in all three but I pairs best with Rev and Wasabi.
Is it just a matter of weight slowing down the swing, or does it have a denser stringbed?amazing how much lower it is, compared with the reg 98, being same mold and all!
this is MUCH more playable for me, the tour version!

Launch angle is the same, lol. I switch between both versions all the time. It's just the way you are swinging with the different weight most likely. Sweet spot is also the same size. Main difference is stability and plow and it has an even more solid feel than the VC98, which already feels pretty solid.

I might try thisi have wasabi and enso pro in my bag of strings lol
I agree. However because its heavier the swing is a bit linear (harder to accelerate upwards) where with the regular 98 you can swing it like its nothing so you can „over-swing” it sometimes which can increase launch. But its a difference of specs and how they act in the loop rather than racquet itself.Launch angle is the same, lol. I switch between both versions all the time. I found the regular to be a nice feeling and fun, but unplayable racquet for me in real matches in stock form. No plow at all, totally falters against heavy balls.Launch angle is the same, lol. Wow, what was the balance with that much weight in the tail. I may have to do some experimenting & see what I think. The VCT is OK stock, but I added 22g to the butt and it is great! Swings much more natural, faster and whippier now and fits my style much better.
Of course, it is all personal and so good to have all the options.

Don't know. It is all tungsten putty, so at the very end.Wow, what was the balance with that much weight in the tail. I may have to do some experimenting & see what I think. Thanks for sharing your findings.
I bet he has a very quick arm. I don't. I need some mass to help me. Also, I have a one-hander and learned with heavy headlight racquets. Everything else feels alien to me.Its wild how much weight preferences can vary. I have a matchplayed xi Vcore 98 from my old coach who was top 500 ATP and he played it stock and just removed the base grip and used 2 OPGs. The SW is in the teens and the stock weight is 305. He was a big hitter, more on the flat side and easily handled high levels of pace with it.

Actually, I wished I could play with lighter head heavy racquets, but I always end up feeling much more sluggish and painful than my natural set up. Muscle memory is not to be underestimated. I mean, I can play with these racquets, but I always lack the control I have with heavier headlight frames.
I added 5 grams to the butt & it took balance to 32. It definitely makes the racquet a little whippier! Thanks for the suggestion, I played amazing tennis today with set up.Don't know. It is all tungsten putty, so at the very end.
But remember, I am coming from old skool, super headlight, heavy racquets. For example, a stock Blade feels very sluggish to me, and even hurts my elbow. But if I put 30g of tungsten in the butt, it feels and swings much more natural to me. I just need that balance also to have tip control, and control in general. Head heavy frames are uncontrollable for me forearm somehow. I am not strong enough to control head heavy frames.
Good to know it worked for you. Thinking of doing the same, as whippiness is what I'm missing from it stock.I added 5 grams to the butt & it took balance to 32. It definitely makes the racquet a little whippier! Thanks for the suggestion, I played amazing tennis today with set up.
Has anyone played the VCT with a NG/poly hybrid? Thinking about stringing it up with LXN NG 1.25 crossed with Tour M8 1.25 for it's maiden voyage once it arrives. Just played a match with that set up in my Percept 97. I got my butt kicked but it performed really well.
Should string it with something cheaper first up to let the grommets bed in, unless cost is no object.Has anyone played the VCT with a NG/poly hybrid? Is that really a thing? Is it just that the relative tension of the first stringbed is lower than subsequent stringbeds strung at same tension?Should string it with something cheaper first up to let the grommets bed in, unless cost is no object.
Thanks. Makes a sense. I’ll go with a poly and string a touch higher first go round.IMO there's often a small but noticeable difference, more so regarding rate of tension loss; just thought it might be prudent to hold off on the gut for one restring.
VCT arrived today. 316g, 302 SW, 32.5 bal
First string will be S7T or LT 1.2 grey… hmmm
1cm balance difference for almost same weight and sw? Those sticks will feel totally different, unless that 32.5 balance is a measurement error. My VCT just arrived! Unstrung specs:
314g
304 SW
31.5 balance
The balance is a on the head light side, which is what I prefer...less weight I'll need to add at the handle. So I'm happy with that!
Just remeasured… mine is 32 not 32.5.1cm balance difference for almost same weight and sw? Those sticks will feel totally different, unless that 32.5 balance is a measurement error.
Which string are you going with? I’m loving S7T @ 22kg, but lynx Tour is great string too. I went with S7T 1.25 to keep swing weight down. It is more like 1.20 than 1.25.Just remeasured… mine is 32 not 32.5.
You’re right, sorry my mind was not thinking. The 1.25 S7T is more like 1.20 & the 1.25 lynx Tour is more like 1.30.I have a bunch of S7T but I think it’s 1.25, didn’t know they made 1.2! I have LT 1.2 from Europe that I love. I might even go TB 1.15 for lowest SW and crazy spin! this thing is definitely the heaviest racquet I’ve ever tried overall mass and SW BUT I bet it will hit BOMBS.
No **** right. But I use a Dunlop balance board. Like I said, I prefer head light racquets. So I’m not mad at it. But it is bizarre.1cm balance difference for almost same weight and sw? Those sticks will feel totally different, unless that 32.5 balance is a measurement error.
I have 3 of them-326, 328 & 329. 2 strung with S7T 1.25 & 1 with 1.20 Tour Bite. Both strings light weight which helps keep SW down. The crisp strings go well with racquet.Has anyone gotten a strung SW under 330? TW listed 326, but it seems like almost all you guys are way over.
How does lynx tour feel in the vcore? I have a lot of packs sitting around here I may try in one of my standard VCs.Which string are you going with? I’m loving S7T @ 22kg, but lynx Tour is great string too. I went with S7T 1.25 to keep swing weight down. It is more like 1.20 than 1.25.
I haven’t actually tried Lynx Tour in it yet. I was asking @ClownCar96 about it. I liked your recommendation of 1.25 S7T in it so much I bought a reel. The playability is amazing & $99 for reel you can’t beat. How does lynx tour feel in the vcore? I have a lot of packs sitting around here I may try in one of my standard VCs.
S7t is going in next with hyper g round as a cross 1.20. Need to get the sw lower so it’s not such a huge leap from the vc98.I haven’t actually tried Lynx Tour in it yet. Hybrid with Hyper G round will be interesting. I have some 1.20 Hawk Touch I may try to hybrid in the cross with it. Keep me posted on your thoughts. I’m trying to get everything dialed in before summer season that starts in May. It’s a great string. Can be had for $60 a reel sometimes.
You may try the @Power Player modification to the grip to get weight down & balance under 32.5 And if you get rid of damper, it will get swing weight down to 330. This racquet doesn’t need a dampener in my opion. The crisp string really goes well with this frame.Strung specs, S7T 1.25, with super grap OG and YY dampener:
340g, 333 SW, 33cm balance.

I think I may do that… don’t like 33 balance and it’s already too heavy for leather or putty. I got my balance down to 32 & at same time reduced static weight 4 grams. 328 swing weight, 335 static weight & 32 balance. I absolutely love this racquet & crushing it right now. I think at a minimum, you need balance down to 32.3 range.I got my balance down to 32 & at same time reduced static weight 4 grams. 328 swing weight, 335 static weight & 32 balance. Wouldn’t scraping the glue off and putting on a thinner grip make the balance worse?I think at a minimum, you need balance down to 32.3 range.
