Yonex Vcore Pro 97

@Syfo-Dias,

Probably some time next week!

We are extremely busy with lots of content getting worked on and gearing up for BNP, so we will get them done as soon as we can! But probably not until next week sometime.

Thanks for your patience :)

Hi Michelle, can you share any thoughts with us regarding the 310 and 330? Overall well received? Any stability issues with the 310? Anything you can share is appreciated. Thanks.

@Morequestionsthananswers

They were very well received. I heard good things about the 310 but didn't hit with it at all.

The 330 was a favorite amongst the team -- I know several people had a lot of positives to say, and I don't want to give it away, but someone claimed it could be his favorite Yonex racquet to date. I personally missed the 16x20, but I was the only one!

Thanks for the preview.

I have a Vcore Pro ordered and have just noticed the 'string pattern' in the strung specifications description says one piece. I've been using Yonex racquets for 28 years and have always strung them in two pieces. Pretty much thought this was an unwritten rule so to speak with Yonex. In saying that it also says one piece with the old Duel G although I've just looked at a Yonex instructional video in which the Duel G is strung in two pieces. Any thoughts?

I don't think the rule to follow is whether you should string with 2 pieces vs 1 piece.

The rule of thumb is to string your crosses top to bottom. Recommending 2 pieces is a behavioral hack that the racket companies use to ensure people are stringing crosses top down.

Since the DR98s and Vcore Pro 330 have 16 mains with 4 at the throat (from the pics), the last main automatically ends at the top. This means that 1 piece stringing automatically forces all string jobs to do crosses top down. Therefore, it is fine to do 1 piece stringing on the DR98s and 330s.

On the other hand, Wilsons are interesting. Even though their mains often end at the bottom (ex Pro Staff 90) bc there are only 6 mains in the throat, they recommend 1 piece. While it's fine to do a 1 piece where the crosses are strung bottom up on these Wilsons, the careful stringer would consider doing ATW for these racquets.

FWIW, I have been using 1 piece on my Wilsons stringing the crosses bottoms up since the PS Original 85 and never had a racquet crack or warp on me.

The specs of the 330 don't look that much different from previous iterations. Its only .5mm thinner and 65RA instead of 66 (Duel G), slightly less swingweight.

I think Yonex used to recommend two piece stringing and cross string should be 3lbs lower than main but they are no longer recommend it but I always string my racket in two piece and 3lbs lower than main for Yonex rackets.

Since when?

The String Pattern PDFs on Wilson's website for the RF97A and the Pro Staff 97 document both one piece and two piece stringing guidelines for these racquets. I have always strung modern Pro Staff 97 racquets as two piece and never had a problem.

Just received Vcore Pro 97 (310)!

The paintjob looks amazing! Much better than my trusty Tour G 310s. I love the matte navy look
Howwww?!?! TW says shipping starting next week!!

Comments: With 2.5 hours of set play with this stick I don't want to jump the gun, but here are my first impressions: Strung with Poly Strike Tour at 42 lbs. Side note: this is a new string and is excellent too. I'm pleasantly surprised to say that this racquet may be Yonex's best version of the racquets they've put out in this spec range (and in my opinion the best frame they've put out period). I've been a mega fan of the vcore tour 97 (330) since its inception. I've tried each racquet that followed and always went back to the original. This is the first that may have the Tour 97 beat. The 16x19 pattern provides more spin for sure and more than any other "player's" frame I've used. Also, for some reason it feels much faster than the Duel G and as fast or faster than the Tour 97 (meaning more racquet speed), while maintaining all of the plow and drive. Perfect amount of flex in all the right places, so great feel with the right amount of stick and backbone. The cosmetics are best in class as usual. This one is more subtle and the midnight blue is plush. It has a really nice feel through the throat. Highly recommend test driving this and don't be surprised when you have to have it. I'm a 5.5, 37 year old open player who plays an all court game.

I've been looking for a larger head size replacement for the Wilson Pro Staff 90. Any comments from the reviewers on likeness?

Review, please!!!
Will string it up and hit with it in a few hours! Will let you know what I think

Love the paintjob and the 20mm beam already

lol it's already released in Europe and Asia.

Know what you mean..
got a visit from the y.rep
we asked for demos, said no, said only 12 racquets in the USA at this time
said we had to wait until release, end of month
frustrating, got pictures and a calendar instead.. rrrrrrrrr

Not in my local tennis shop yet either, at least I will get a demo right away once it arrives. They called Yonex and apparently the racquets are on the way.

I thoughts i saw somewhere (maybe the TW VLOG) that the swingweight of the 310 was around 326, but i now see TW Europe lists it as 317 (which is Duel G level). I think that's a pity as i felt the 310 needed a little more plow through. Whereas this was always provided by the 330, that came with its own implications. I realise it's always possible to add lead, but would have preferred, i think, the stock model to be already at that SW.

I think Yonex used to recommend two piece stringing and cross string should be 3lbs lower than main but they are no longer recommend it but I always string my racket in two piece and 3lbs lower than main for Yonex rackets.
I do the same. I find that it opens up the sweet spot. In fact I do this on pretty much every racquet. If I don't, I find that the sweet spot is noticeably smaller.

meant to post this yesterday but fell asleep. played some doubles and 2 sets of singles yesterday with the 310 in stock form and then today with 2g of lead at 12, 3 and 9 with Yonex Premium Leather grip and overgrip.

I own Tour G 310s and have demoed the Duel G but didn't switch to it. I will make some comparisons to Tour G.

Strung it at 50lb using Klip Legend 17 uncoated in the mains and Yonex poly tour fire 17 in the crosses.

Initially I had some problems with the launch angle as I kept hitting shots in the net. Took abit of adjustment and then was hitting fine after that. it is definitely very underpowered in stock form so no wonder TW rated the power level at "low." All my shots lacked omph initially but with lead it really came alive, just like the Tour G 310. Plowthrough became much better and love the control you get with this stick.

The feel was great and has a nice flex at the throat. In terms of spin, I didn't really notice much of a difference between this and the Tour G even though the Tour G is 16x20. Spin isn't really this racquet's best attribute but it's generally adequate for most. I think where this racquet really shines is when you flatten your shot and when you attack the net as just like the Tour G, you get pinpoint accuracy. Maneuverability wise, it's similar to the Tour G. Feels abit more heavy than its specs would suggest but it's not that bad. The weight distribution is abit better with abit more weight spread over the whole hoop instead of concentrated at the throat like the Tour G.

Overall, it's definitely a great control stick for people who can generate their own power. I can't really say it's an improvement over the duel G considering I've only played with the Duel G once but I guess they feel quite similar. Definitely an improvement over the Tour G in terms of weight distribution and paintjob though. I've bought 4 and I think this will be my main stick for the next few years.

P.S the paintjob really looks awesome in real life and the blue section on one side of the racquet isn't bright at all. Both the blue section and dark orange really blends in with the navy frame. Also the 0.5mm reduction in beam width is noticeable in the hand. Does feel abit thinner and feels abit closer to my K90 from years back. Love those thin box beams.

How about string density? Is it just skip top string to make 16x19 or just different string density or drilling?

Surprised that the spin wasn't noticeable, that is afterall one of the key marketing points they make on this new stick. I see mine is due to arrive Monday, so really looking forward to get a session with it.

Nobody really said much about how the racquet felt. Did it feel to stiff, was it plush, did they notice any flex? I didn't catch much.

Interestingly Mark the Boy agrees with me. He had to count the strings because he didn't think it was 16x19, still feels like 16x20 in terms of string spacing and shots coming off the racquet

It definitely feels plush and it flexes at the throat. Very comfortable frame.

Would you say it's the most comfortable and plush out off all the last 3 versions...vcore tour, vcore tour g, vcore duel g?

Does it feel solid or does it have any feeling of being hallow? I hate the hallow feeling of some racquets.

Troy did mention a little on the feel of the frame. He said it was a little crisp in the upper hoop if I recall? Might be something they’re doing to help with energy return on strikes outside the sweet spot? Like they did with the EZONE? Just a thought.

I’ve got a friend who is demoing this frame on Thursday and I’ll have a go with it. I’ve played a lot of Yonex frames in the past three years so I can make a good comparison to what it’s closest to.

Hey Michelle, I’m very happy to see such positive reviews about the 310 and 330. You all do a great job. Thanks.
Is there any chance that Sean would share how he weighed his 310?

According to his playtester profile, it looks like Troy made the switch to the VCore Pro 97 330

I've been playing with the Duel G 330 for the last year and a half or so, and I love it (previously played with Wilson Pro Staff Classic 6.1 for years; the Six One 95 and the Volkl C10 Pro both for a minute). Just ordered the VCore Pro 97 330 from TW, expected to be delivered on Wednesday. Unfortunately, forecast is showing a lot of rain here in the SF Bay Area for the rest of the week, so not sure when I can take it out. Once I have it strung and have played with it, I'll offer some of my thoughts here.

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts! I love the DG330 but I’m also toying around with a leaded up tour g 310. So that makes one play tester from each one to switch! Pretty awesome stuff that Yonex is doing.

It will be the new Yonex string that is coming soon as well. I’m sure they did play test it with other strings as well, saw a pic with some orange string (maybe Cyclone).
