I got the 310s tweaked to perfection and of course now I am leaning towards using the Extreme MP. Why? It really fits my style of play (I competed a few years ago with the IG pro) and I love how big it plays for being so light. I would say that on full swings, the power level of the MP is not dramatically \bigger than the 310, but it’s definitely heavier for me simply due to the spin . The thing that surprises me is that the Extreme is quite good at the net when I go up there, and that the control is very precise for being so open patterned.
I’m testing these frames out against 5.5 level players at times. They crush the ball and hit huge, so its the ultimate way to see what frames still give me a fighting chance in points. The reality is that I have hit some insane defensive shots with the MP that a 4.0 or 4.5 would not be able to attack, but these guys are so good that they can still put those balls away for winners. What really gets me points against these guys is that I can generate a lot of spin with the Extreme due to it’s unique specs. It’s very light but has a high SW and that works well for me. That spin keeps them behind the baseline more often and the underspin off slices can wrong foot them, as it generates some crazy bounces.
For me its all about my personal level of swing speed, so for everyone its different. I get really nice timing and contact with the stock MP with a more relaxed swing. With the 310, I get the same, but it takes a little more work since it’s more of a control frame.
Ive gone back and forth between player frames and power ones but I’m really seeing the benefit of light frames with higher SWs for how I play. It’s a shame there are not many out there. But Ill definitely be checking out the new Blades and see how that goes. For now I’m leaning towards putting the modded 310s up for sale just because I have way too many frames right now and need to clear some out. I can check out the new version when it comes out and see what has changed. I really love the feel of these racquets a lot, but I guess you can’t have it all, unfortunately.
