Yonex VCORE series 2018

But the launch angle isn’t as ‘bad’ as the Babolat PA right?
Well usually the more open the string pattern, the higher the launch angle. I don't remember the BPA+ enough to compare.
I’m curious as well. I’m going to mess around with placements and see what works best. I may change strings prior.
For myself, I finally used 1.5g @ 10/2 and 1g @ 12, and added about 15g to the handle, using a Yonex leather grip and overgrip, plus about 3g in the buttcap to get 345SW and 32.4cm balance.

Right, but the 16x19 string pattern is dense in the middle I reckon? I never used the BPA+ so I don’t have a good comparison.

Sorry I can't help, but I'm confused. Why would you compare the VC98 to the BPA if you can't have a reference on either? If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say the VC98/+ in between the BPA+ and CX200+ in terms of openess of the middle string bed.

i have a some experience from both. moved from using the PA+ (older version) and current using the vc98+. PA+ is by far more powerful (good or bad). i feel the latest iteration of the vc98+ to controlled power and softer (RA 64 vs RA 69/70?).
i didn't read all the posts about your questions but i guess it depends what you're going after. i like the vc98+ because it is more controlled than the PA+. PA+ is a great racquet in itself. the power to open up points is addicting.

I went on and tried to play test the VC98 but the store didn’t have any for demo nor for sell. They only had the VC100 which I thought was strange. Anyway, I ended up demoing the Yonex EZ98 and the Yonex VCP97 330. The EZ98 is plush but it’s stiff towards the hoop. I like the easy power and depth I can get with it. The VCP97 330 has a nice classical feel, yet can murder the ball if hit cleanly and right at the sweet spot. Slicing is better on the VCP97 330 than the EZ98 imo. Have any of you guys played with any of these and can compare to the VC98?

I actually had both of those frames up until recently. I’d say the VC98 is close to the EZONE 98 and not close at all to the VCP97 330. I would probably say that the VC98 has the characteristics of the EZONE but has a bit more spin potential and isn’t as stiff in the upper hoop like the EZONE plays. I’ve found more of a groove with the VC98 than the EZONE.

Awesome! I’ll have to demo the VC98 some time in the next week or two. If I end up liking it, I’ll probably end up getting the Galaxy Black VC98. Some people say that different colored racquets doesn’t all play the same.

This is interesting. I am demo'ing the VC98 at the moment and would be interested to know how the Ezone 98 compares. Also the Ezone 100 should any of you have played it.

I demo'ed both and the 95. Ended up with the VC95. The ezone 98 compared to the VC98 felt more whippy, which I liked. It does feel very stiff in the upper hoop, the VC98 is more smooth and more stable.

why does this racket feel like all the weight is in the handle . is just much harder to swing than my pure aero. what do I need to do to make it swing kind of similar or comparable to my pure aero.
I guess you are accustomed to the less headlight, high swing weight but light racquets. Why do you want to switch to the VC98?

maybe I need to add leather grip, t the precision of this racket its insane and I feel like I can hit the sweet spot most of the time and for some reason my serve is way better more pop.
If you want more head heavy, making the handle heavier will just make the racquet even more headlight. Maybe you should get your balance measurements done with both racquets then come back to us.

balance point is at 12.5 that means is -8 point head light ? how much weight do I need to add to make it swing easier or maneuver easy ?
Umm I think you need first tell use which racquet you have, how did you measure the 12.5" and if that's strung? I don't know the BPA too well, but I do remember it to be less head light.

Racket is 305 98 vcore
thats 12.5 balance point is strung.
do i need to check the balance without strings? I would like to bring down 4point headligth .
Are you wanting to be at 4 points headlight or bring it down 4 more points? Making it go to 4 points total will make it less maneuverable. Adding 4 more points will make it more headlight, which is more maneuverable.

Ok. As others have said, the more head light the racquet, the easier it is to swing. If your serve is better, and you can hit better, I don't see why you want to change anything and not just practice and spend a few months to get used to the racquet?

cool. yeah man, im gona have to do that, I thogh it was gonna be an easy switch coming from the pure aero. some how I feel like the pure aero is more pleasant on my elbow to hit but that's maybe I'm constantly miss hitting the ball with my vc 98 always late .

Ok so you are saying you hit the sweetspot most times, AND you feel elbow pain? Yet you don't with the BPA? Maybe you should consider not switching?

Just got to hit with my second VCORE 98 strung up with PTS 125 in black at 52lbs. Wow. I love how this string plays. I am a big Luxilon user and would compare it almost to Alu. I know some had commented that it’s almost like a 4G but I think it’s more Alu Power/BB Original mix. Love this frame the more I use it and even more so now with PTS in it. I’d like to try PTP and really get an idea of how that string plays in this frame.

Is the PST 125 Black soft?

Has anybody experienced arm, wrist or shoulder pain with the VCore 98? I have a demo and Have been experiencing a bit of pain just below the elbow. I can’t figure out if it’s the racquet or string tension. I’m not sure what the tension is but my guess it’s 53 or 54 pounds with RPM Blast. I usually play with a full bed of ALU Power Rough right around 48 pounds.

RPM Blast is a stiff string ya know.

Been playing with the VCORE 98 with a couple of months now and i absolutely love it...

I string it with NXT Power in the Mains, and ALU Power in the Crosses. Freshly strung racquet feels amazing for the first 4 hours, but after that, the strings just feel like they seem to feel really bouncy and a less lively. Anyone have these issues? I string them 52/54, should i up the tension?

Alu Power is old school poly tech. Even after an hour, it loses playability. Switch to more modern polys like Pro Red Code Wax as a cross. If you like Alu Power @ 4 hours, you'll like PRCW @ 10 hrs.

No pain issues with my VC98+.

Anyone like the Vcore SV 98 better than the new Vcore 98?

Just curious and if so why?

Have the SV and love it.

Just demoed both side by side and also sometime back.
I am also leaning towards SV 98; even though it felt bit stiffer at times, I felt more connected and had more control and power. VCore 98 is better in spin and relatively more comfortable, but I don't like the muted feel that it has.

What string/tension is better for SV 98?

I like to string my stiffer racquets as low as I can control. Maybe start at 50lbs and decrease 3lbs every string job till you hit a floor. Got my SV95 at 41/39lbs and 44/42lbs

My Yonex's have cured my racquetoholism. I've tried everything there is, bar actual prostock (have tried the OG Prestiges though, PT600 aso).
I have two VCore 95, two VCore 98 and 2 VCP 97 (310). They cover the whole spectrum to avoid any type of RAS (racquet aquisition syndrome).
It's not that these are the best frames ever, but for me, racquets from other mfcs that I enjoy (or might enjoy) will fall more or less into one the categories above.

Right now, I'm loving the VCore 95, with a couple of g of lead @12, to get a little easier (more) depth and plow. It's not a hard 95 to play with, and I prefer it to the VCore 98 which has less control (open string pattern = feels a little vague/too open sometimes) and a much higher launch angle. Someone wrote it's reminescent of the Six.One 95, and I think that's a very good comparison. I've only played with the last version (not the white, current reissue), but it would fit nicely in between the 18x20, 16x18 and 18x16.

Dear racquetoholism colleague... so many times I thought that until finding out that in addition to loving playing tennis, I like as well testing other frames. So it seams that I do not want to be cured... But I keep trying :)
Cool that these very good Yonex frames suit you...

Tbh it could have been another brand. Prince: TT100P, TT95 and a Phantom f.inst. Wilson: 6.1 95/RF97A, Ultra Tour and a Clash f.inst.

But the Yonex combo I now have, scratches every itch. Just today, I changed back to the VCore 98 as the 95 wasn't doing enough damage against a guy I regularly hit with and who's a great counterpuncher and has epic balance and leg strength. I wanted to see if there was any difference. The 98 let me hold him at bay, behind the baseline with height and spin.

Between these three types of frame, led setup, string choice and tension, I have more than enough on my plate to tweak and experiment with :)

In my bag I carry 1 Tour G 310, 1 Vcore Pro 97 310, and 1 Vcore98. I sold my DR98+ and the Vcore SV 98 I had.
The DR98+ I sold to my team mate and he loved it soo much (he's a babolat/wilson guy) he bought a 2nd one from the bay!

In my other bag I carry 2 Yonex Ti-10 and used to have 2 Muscle Power 99's (broken) and 2 Armortec 800 DE (broken) :(

Had a few hours with the VC98 yesterday it was strung with a synth gut/round poly hybrid of some sort. Nice play test, plenty of power and spin and good control. Was pretty crisp feeling for me so I wouldn’t want to use full bed of poly. Definitely up there in this category of frame.

I had a chance to hit today with a 95D with 4g of lead at 3&9 along with a leather grip. What an experience, I see why people love it so much. I felt so connected to the ball and felt that I had a nice blend of power and control. It's truly a dream on the OHBH. My one knock on the 95D is that it felt a little harsh, this was with a hybrid setup. I used to play with the rf97 and the 95D felt harsher.

I play with the Vcore Pro 330 with a leather grip and experimenting with 6g of lead at 3&9. I probably still prefer it with no lead, but we shall see. I use 4g at 43 pounds.

How does the 95D compare to the Vcore 95? I was thinking that because the Vcore 95 is supposedly softer than the 95D so it may play closer to the Vcore Pro 330. Any insight is much appreciated.

hitting the vcore 98+ with black bear bear claw at 50# and so far it feels great, Im used to standard length racquets so Im still adjusting to the extra length, but so far my bH slice is a dream.

ill have more seat time in it but so far im liking it better than my DR98

I re-strung the racquet with ALU Power at 48 pounds and 85% of the pain went away. No RPM Blast for me lol.

Since no one else is replying, I'll give you my $0.02 :)

I've only held the 95D briefly, but from what I understand talking to those who use it, it falls into the Prestige category. Wawrinka played with a Head Prestige variant before switching to Yonex. I've played quite a bit with the IG Prestiges (pro and mp), as well as the various "Marlboro" 6.1 95s, and to me, the 95D, just as the Tour/DG/VCP97, falls into the first category, the VCore 95 into the latter.

So if you consider going for the VCore 95, expecting something along the lines of a 95D/Prestige type of thing, you'll be disappointed.
