I'm switching!
Coming from an Ezone 98 with 3 3/8 grip; string Hyper-G @ 50 M / 48 C. Before that the DR 98
Going to the Vcore 98 305 with 3 1/4 grip; string Poly Tour Fire @ 50M / 48 C.
Currently -- I liked the Ezone but never enough to ever feel fully satisfied or confident with it. Had thoughts over the last year of going back to the DR but liked the power of the Ezone and didn't want to give up. Biggest issues were the harsh feel, seemingly small sweet spot and the feel of very little dwell time. Those are all just my feelings... not necessarily facts.
Tried the Vcore 98 at the specs above. Instantly felt like a whole new game. Vs. the Ezone, the biggest differences:
- More power -- racquet felt easier to swing (although I think the swing weight is actually higher)
- Very plush / great dwell feel
- Bigger sweetspot
- Fast swing feel / more head lite feel (don't know the specs... just felt like it)
- The smaller grip size (went down from 3/8 to 1/4 may be contributing to some of the feel changes)
- Spin -- More spin / heavy ball vs Ezone
- Forehand -- Much better than Ezone
- Backhand -- Much much better than Ezone
- Volley -- Not as good as Ezone
- Serve -- Same as Ezone
Like golf clubs, I expect this honeymoon period to end some time soon but again, the differences vs. the Ezone 98 are very noticeable.
