I was saying the other day how lovely it is that Del Potro gets a final hurrah after all his struggles. This was due to some negative comments on Del Potro on a thread here because he literally said 2 weeks ago that he literally can’t climb a ladder, run, kick a ball etc.

And he goes and beats Djokovic 6-4 7-5?

Almost half of the match was a double with Dûlko and Sabbatini. There was nothing serious about it.
Even you and I can beat Djokovic in an exhibition match, if we talk before the match he lets us win...

No big 3 member attended the retirement of thiem.

Granted he is not Fed gen player being 12+ years younger. But not even Djokovic or Nadal.

Yet djokovic flew half the world around to play exhibition just for his friend, not money.

It's more like Delpo has won at life. The respect he is receiving even in retirement, everyone knowing he can't even move around, and still packing the stadium.

Del Potro has good relations with Federer too. They played exhibitions in Argentina back in 2012. And this time also, Federer sent a heartful message to delpotro.

Djokovic specially travelled that far to help delpo. Thats on another level.
But i have seen that djokovic is extra eager for love and specially targets non Europe and USA countries. So djokovic was also happy getting all love in argentina.

Delpotro and nadal relation should be good, both being spanish spoken

Delpotro murray relation is pretty bad. They had a tiff on court earlier.

What is the point of djokovic trying to get extra love from Argentina. It's not like it's a powerhouse country.

Because thats the thing he wants most. More than money.
He has spent most of his career playing against other big 3 in europe, usa, aus and didnt get much crowd support. It has affected him as it would affect any human.
In asia and other countries, he gets more love and he really likes that.

Did you watch the match?
A visible limited level of play and movement after 30 years of nothing but tennis all day long. This was supposed to be an exhibition match and fun to watch and they achieved that. The score and level of play was totally irrelevant.

Love them or hate them or indifferent to them, Federer and Nadal were and are simply on a different level status wise to any other players that played the game this last 20 years and obviously that will attract alot of envy from those not keen on either both in and out the game.
 
I don't think Delpo genuinely believes Novak is the greatest person to ever live. There's no need to get upset over this.

It's like when people say the cliche "He's a great athlete, but an even better person." That's been said about Roger and Rafa a thousand times over the years, and obviously it's not literally true. They're in like the top 3 tennis players all time, no one actually believes they're top 3 humans all time.

It was a Lacoste initiative. DelPo signed a contract with them this year after his Nike contract had ended, followed by his hitting session with Djo at USO, and now this exhibition match. Previously he would go to USO and hit with other Nike stars (like McEnroe) to fulfill his sponsorship obligation.

Love DelPo, but going to say he has been a bit cringe since his official retirement two years ago.
