Your Dream Racquet, Specs, and PJ

FedLIKEnot

Professional
I know with lead tape and some having the resources and access to Pro Stocks you may already have access to the specs you desire but if you were a pro player given these resources and more a la Federer what would be would your racquet be.....?

For me it goes as follows:
Brand: Wilson
Model: Pro Staff
Size: 95sq in.
Length: 27in
Weight: 12.2 ounces (strung)
Balance: 9pts HL
Swingweight: 325ish
Beam Shape/Type: box beam
Beam Width: 20mm
String Pattern: 18x16 so still a "Spin" but slightly more control them my current stick
Stiffness: 68
Paint Job: I would like a PJ more in like with the K-Factor PS; something mostly white, with black color blocking details and all accents in "Wilson Red"
Base Grip Type: Wilsons best leather grip they could muster, haha.
Misc:

That's my first draft if I am missing characteristics you'd be including add it in and I do reserve the right to edit mine in the future. Haha.

I think having and odd number of mains would cause uneven pressure on the frame. That's why you always see even number of mains ie. 14,16 or18

Your ideal racquets is almost the 2014 six one 95!!

(except for the spin string pattern and the box beam)

What about a K 6.1 95 with a quality control error and low SW ?
It was said here that some Wilson sticks have SW error of 15grams (so 340 - 15 = 325)
And there you got the 69 stiffness and paintjob.

Sorry for the box beam and spin pattern :D

Box beam and string pattern is why I currently use the 2015 PS95s. Haha. So sort of sticking points. That said I've used my friends K 6.1 and I loved it so wouldn't mind a heftier sw. But I have fell in love with the spin pattern and it would be a pretty decent change to a tighter pattern at least initially.

Isn't 68 a bit stiff for a proper box beam?

It is stiffer then what has become normal, the RF PS while not a normal box beam has that stiffness rating and the PS85 was 62. So it is possible and I feel like it would combine to make the best of both worlds.

I thought about an extended length racquet like Mardy Fish. I have not used one for any extended amount of time but it would be interesting to have at least one Pro Staff in a 95sq in headsize with an extended length option....I do like what you've worked up, some great ideas.

Donnay Allwood with Donnay Borg Pro PJ.

Modern racquets have ruined the sport and no other stick dominated the centre courts of Roland Garros and Wimbledon the way that particular racquet did.

Though I will concede that Borg at his peak would have made most racquets look good.

Ditch the 20.5 box beam + extended length and it's essentially a Fischer VT98Pro.

I'm very happy with what I have now and would likely be fine with my previous racquets as well. I'm not that concerned about string pattern but want something 62 or lower in flex, probably at least 58, really heavy and XL, 27.75 - 28 inches. One of the most important things I want is consistency between frames - that is if I buy a set of four, I want minimal variances between the frames.

Well that's the beauty of this hypothetical you're getting exactly what you'd want.

Looks like we could have a family of 96sq in frames. As I said I retained the right to amend my specs I was thinking about change but wasn't trying to dig this back up but since it got more posts seemed relevant. I'd like my specs as follows.

Brand: Wilson
Model: Pro Staff
Size: 96sq in.
Length: 27.5in
Weight: 12.4 ounces (strung)
Balance: 9pts HL
Swingweight: 330-335ish
Beam Shape/Type: box beam
Beam Width: 21mm
String Pattern: Some version of a spin string pattern I hate the 97s (The Grigor) and my current (PS95s) is sometime a touch erratic.
Stiffness: 68
Paint Job: Matte white with Wilson red color blocking around the PWS and black accents.
Base Grip Type: Leather
Misc: I to would like to see a tweak to the layup....

Prestige Pro 600 and then another option for a much wider audience a Prestige Pro 630!!!!!! Same specs as the Pro Tour 630 just with Prestige Pro 600 paint job.

Babolat Pure Storm Ltd / Control 95 with an open 16x19 string pattern.

@Babolat Official

Thanks for the feedback. I'll share with the product team.

I being relatively new to tennis love and appreciate the almost encyclopedia knowledge you guys have of older racquets and their specs.

Some contributors really possess almost encyclopedic knowledge regarding tennis frames but alas, that is not my case. I play with the VT98Pro regularly so knowing the exact specs is not that special, really ;)

Okay in hindsight I take away my compliment. Haha. But yes generally the people on here have perfect recall of specs of a bygone era....

I actually have a RedOS in my quiver, and rotate to it about twice every 6 weeks. It's weighted with 10" of 1/2" lead tape in the head and that same amount in the handle, strung with STBite16 at 40lbs., It's OK.
A Head Extreme Pro would be close.
My racket's of choice are my 3 Dunlop Aero500's, weighted with 22" of 1/2" lead in the head, and that much in the buttcap area of the handles. Almost exact specs of the Extreme, but a move oval head shape, and 16x18 string pattern.

Power must be off the charts on those things. I know two people that play with those and they're light as a feather - lots of power available if you have a very fast swing speed. They are fond of hitting drop volleys in doubles - they just touch the ball and it dribbles over the net and dies. You can hit the fastest serves at these guys - if they can get their racquet on the ball, it comes back to you for a difficult volley. They're not hitting any kind of a stroke - just blocking it back.

Love this spec, but I'd rather play with a more flexible Wilson frame. Anything under 66 is usually perfect for me. I have used the 95S competitively as well and I love it's S pattern. I wish Wilson would use that 18x16 string pattern option on more frames. It provides a controlled response outside of the sweet spot. I do agree when you connect dead center on groundstrokes it has some serious power, even erratic at times, especially on the run

Thanks for the reply @Babolat Official

Flex carbon is a huge tech addition for Babolat, the Pure Control line was soft and maintained that traditional Babolat power.. Any chance flex carbon will be integrated into upcoming frames soon??

I'm not sure of the technologies that will be used in not yet released frames. As I hear more, I'll let you know!
